Oddly enough, whatever was possessing these men would not make them barbaric in action; they did not actively touch Miyako as long as she made it so it was unnecessary to detain her. They would march with her on each side, flanking her as they would guide her towards the castle.

They would ignore Miyako's question it seems, walking in stoic silence alongside her.

Miyako, how long/far are you willing to walk with them like this? There is the opportunity to push for information if you think there is information to earn, since it will be a few minute walk; likewise, some other daring escapade might present itself to you if you want to a chance. Or, you might be only willing to be escorted so far before you put up a resistance.

"What's going on? Has something happened to Heichi-sama?" Her frown continued as if she was truly worried about the man she claimed loyalty to.

((No, you don't need it. Rolls are only really relevant if circumstances have changed. Otherwise, prior rolls carry forward.))

As before, the samurai walking with Miyako would ignore her. She draws nearer to the castle... They don't seem to be thrall-ignoring her; it seems to be a conscious decision on their parts.

As they got closer and closer to the castle, Miyako had to hold back the urge to ask further questions. She'd never admit it but she was a bit worried about what would happen when she was behind yet more walls and with fewer between her and the blood mage. But for the moment, she held her tongue and prayed to the Kami for something to help her figure a way out.

No indication was given that an escape attempt would be made, so Miyako is brought to Shiro Heichi's castle without incident.

Along her route, she would see many samurai moving about; most paid her no direct heed, but all had a similar red glow upon their pupils like these two gentlemen. Miyako would be lead to a pair of doors; one was open, leading to the basement of the castle; the other remained just above these stairs, as a set of cells to hold the criminally minded.

It didn't seem like personal space was a commodity that they cared much for in this state of mind; there was a dozen individuals being held in the same cell (spacious for one, less so for one dozen). Panicked faces met Miyako's amidst the torchlight that made the room visible at this time of the evening, looking to her for something, anything to work with.

The guards stationed here would hoist up their spears and aim it at the prisoners through the bars, allowing for Miyako's samurai escorts to get her to the door without problem. One brusque-looking Boar had stepped forward with keys to unlock the steel barred cell, and Miyako was rudely shoved inside, the door closing and locking behind her. Once secured, many of the bushi would lose interest; one returning to guard duty, the rest calmly wandering off to do whatever.

"Who... who art thou?" one much older samurai man would ask Miyako, giving her the oddest look once a significant number of corrupted guards had diverted attentions to other tasks..

She debated keeping up the ruse, but instead attempted another tactic, if she was going to get out of here, she had to trust someone. Hopefully, it wouldn't be her death. She still kept her voice as low as possible. "Someone who is trying to stop the spread of Maho." trying to sound as if she was on a very important mission and knew exactly what she was doing. "Mine group and I were sent on behalf of the Magistrates and unfortunately were separated. We had heard tales of this Dragon and fear that it is not just this Clan's doom he is spelling but the entire Empire...and using this clan to do so." Trying to sound old timey and earnest. But really, she was wishing that damned Hare was around. That and hoping that maybe she could stir them to life to preserve their honor if nothing else, not that she was sure what they could do anyways just yet.

"Ma... ho?" the older Boar that Miyako was imprisoned with parroted, before shooting odd glances at his... your cell mates. "What in jigoku is that?"

Out of the dozen people now sharing this cell with Miyako, not one of them seemed to emulate the same eye glow. There was several men and women, a couple younger samurai, and a child locked in here with her.

"That is all well and good, friend," a grumpy looking middle-aged man would say, stepping forward aggressively towards Miyako. "But that doth not change the fact that we art locked away in this kami-damned cell! Unless thee and thy friends plan on freeing us from behind these bars, I think thy mission is a failure. Or doth thou haveth a plan for that?"

"Ninsei-san, please, hold on! Please, we need thee!" a voice would say from the back of the cell.

"Something rather ill thought of that some of us were foolish enough to believe wasn't a danger." A small beating up of her ego but she felt like she'd aged ten years this past day. "And you're right, I have at a loss at this point. But as long as I live, the Kami do giveth me hope." And as if hearing her non existent prayer, she heard a name that gave her comfort but it was far from in a reassuring context.

"Ninsei-san?" And with that, she began to push her way through the crowd as best she could towards the voice and what she hoped would be a ray of light. If it was him and he gave no indication of recognizing her without her mask, she'd slip just a bit of it out for his eyes only and hope he'd keep the secret. All bets were off.

"H-hey! I am not done with thee!" the middle-aged Boar would say, but not make any move to stop Miyako.

At the rear of the cell, Heichi Ninsei crouched down, his back towards the crowd; Omiko stood beside him, clutching the shoulder of his kimono fiercely enough to tear it if she had the strength to do so.

He seemed to be focused on something, and his face, or at least what Miyako could see of it, seemed paler and drained. He had a cloth draped over his right hand, held tight with his left, which was soaked heavily with blood; it seemed to seep through the material, dripping upon his robed knees and the floor itself, staining them both.

"Omiko-sama... worry not... I will be fine. Tis but a scratch. We need to worry about thy brother's safety, as well as thy own."

"Ninsei-san, please! We need to get thee to an apothecary first! Please, beg our clansmen for mercy! They'll surely help thee, thou hast done so much for our Family!" Along with her pleading, she would shake him lightly.

Around this time, Miyako makes her way to the back, brushing past a much older woman and a girl slightly younger than Miyako herself. They watched the scene with despair in their eyes but said nor did anything. Ninsei looked up to Miyako, blinking several times. Omiko seemed not to notice her presence.

"Omiko-sama, I need a favor from thee. I need thee to help find a way out of here. I need to rest and recover my strength; I will try to think of a plan, for when thou completes thy task. Okay?"

He would glance to Miyako again, and this time, Omiko would turn; the young girl would look at her, eyes reddened and cheeks tear-stained; her look was a pleading one, for this grown-up to do something, anything, for her guardian.

Around this time, a few of the men at the front of the cell would call out, somewhat questioningly, to their Clanmates. If Miyako were to turn around, there would be too many people in the way to tell what the commotion was about, but amongst the calls, she would be able to pick up on the word "anvil".

Miyako smiled reassuringly at the girl, but could give nothing away just yet since Ninsei seemed (she hoped) trying to send the girl away with reason. She had hoped that Omiko was the answer, but now even that hope seemed gone. Once she was gone, she'd look the man over, pausing only at the strange word. What in the world did an anvil have to do with all this? Stupid History. If this kept up, she was going to start looking up libraries every chance she got.

"Is there anything that can be done?"
Asking him both about his injury as well as the death about to overtake them all. "I trust you know I was not lying now? I don't have all the answers, but I was truthful."
PostPosted: Tue Aug 07, 2012 8:01 pm

Miyako does not lead Omiko away herself, so the little girl goes to complete her side quest solo.

"I... think now's not the time to concern thyself with technicalities," Ninsei would say to Miyako. "If thou art a trained healer, I am not so proud as to not ask for thy assistance. I suffered a grievous injury when defending our Lord from our Clansman earlier; neither he nor I were affected by the unusual spell that was cast. I failed in my duty, and we were both taken prisoner and separated. I do not know whither he was spirited to." He would let off a brief chuckle, which turned into a ragged cough.

"I would normally wish for the two cuts, but I lack the means to complete the ritual. I confess, it hath become difficult to stay awake."

Ninsei does not openly address Miyako's concern about what her next step should be.

"As long as the Kami have given you breath, there is hope you may yet redeem yourself." She gave a short, cruel response to his suggestion of seppuku before turning on her heel and deciding to look for Omiko. Maybe if they found a way out that she and Miyako as small as she was, could find a way out it was a start.

"Omiko-sama..."
PostPosted: Tue Aug 07, 2012 8:23 pm

Ninsei would nod weakly, letting Miyako to explore her own options.

A few of the other samurai in the cell would be attempting to encircle Omiko almost instinctively, as if to shield her. The girl had moved off of one of the stone walls, and was now investigating the bars.

"Careful, my lady!" the older Boar would say.

"Please, be careful," another samurai would say.

Omiko was currently trying to see if she could fit through the bars, before stopping and turning to the rest of you. "I... I think I can fit through. Should I go to get help?"

That's when the disputes would begin. Suggestions of several sorts cropped up immediately, as there was no consensus given beyond all the captured Boar.

The standpoints given are the following:
  • For Omiko to escape on her own, forgetting the rest.
  • For Omiko to try to steal the keys and free the rest.
  • For Omiko to stay where she would be safe and guarded in the cell.
  • For Omiko to escape, look for help, and come back.

No one seemed to have enough status to make a decision for the group - except maybe Ninsei, who was now alone at the back of the cell, and was struggling to stay conscious.

Miyako, what are you doing while this is going on?

She gave a glance back at Ninsei even as she checked the cell herself for weak spots and thought. There weren't many options. If she found nothing herself, she'd move in and bend down to the girl's level. "Omiko-sama, you are but a girl, but you are also the Daimyo's sister. You have to be strong for your people even if you are scared. He guides them as much as they protect him. It is a scary choice, but if you find a way to let these people out, we may stand a fighting chance of saving us all."
