✿ Kari stood there and watched, thinking of Ed while she let go of the girl; but she pulled her back.





✿ She held onto Kari's forearms, her brown hair whipping in the wind covering most of her dirt ridden face. "He tried to hurt me!" Kari stopped, feeling no emotion at all while her face hardened, her brows pulling together and she frowned. "Who?"




✿ From behind her she could hear Falman and Al's thunking footsteps, but all the work that needed to be done about the fire was already accomplished. "Mr. Leguizamo!" Falman's footsteps came closer, till he was right next to them, panting and breathing hard. "Sarah?" Kari turned her head, looking at Falman and the girl and back and forth. "She said Mr. John tried to hurt her."

✿ Kari leaned forward, looking after Ed and watching him go. "Ed, wait!" But he was far gone, wether he was to angry or to quick; he didn't hear her. Falman looked back at them and then the house, "Al, why don't we see if we can find any clues in John's house. Kari, can you take her home?" Kari looked at the girl and frowned, but gave him a nod; pulling one of her arms free but letting Sarah keep the other one. They split up into different directions, Sarah leading Kari to her home; which was almost near the trainstation. When they made it inside Kari finally got a good look at Sarah's face, button nose, brown shoulder length hair and dirty cheeks. Sarah sat down in her own dinning room and sighed, all her dishes and cups were still out but Kari stayed in the door.





✿ Sarah noticed and looked up, giving her a little sigh. "You can sit down, do you want to hear what happened?" Kari didn't say anything, her lips forming some sort of frown but pout, but she did listen and sit down across from Sarah who had pulled some of her hair back. "You're new here? And those are you friends?" Kari didn't say anything, looking forward and then down at the table before sighing. "Yes," Sarah breathed out a huff of air through her nose before getting up, going into the kitchen and conducting something up before bringing back two cups of tea. "Here, this one's for you. You must be tired, thank you for helping me."




✿ Kari took it, holding onto the mug and feeling the heat transfer to her hand before taking a giant swig. Looking back up at Sarah before something clicked in her mind. "You're...really calm." Sarah clasped onto her own mug, moving it in a circle motion in the palms of her hands as she looked down smiling. "Yes, I've done this before." Kari looked at her becoming confused as he vision became blurry, she rubbed her eyes feeling them growing tired and heavy while her stomach swirled with a neausea. "Done...done what?" Kari stood up, pushing the chair back and not realizing how unbalanced she was as it fell off its four legs and onto the floor, the mug slipping out of her hands but staying loosely hooked onto her fingers. "W-what?" She held onto the side of her head, until her eyes became fogged over and she fell to the floor; the last thing being seen was Sarah standing up over her and smiling just a bit.

✿ "I saw you, you know. When you got off the train." Kari turned her head to the side, feeling groggy as she tried hard to stay awake, to blink or move; even scream. But she couldn't. "I knew you were special, especially when you Falman; you're a state alchemist aren't you?" Kari turned her head looking straight up, seeing a blurry ceiling and a mix of Sarah's brown bangs. "I'm sure it'll work on you. But for a state alchemist, you sure aren't sharp. Didn't you notice the circle on the floor?"





✿ Kari listened, hearing Sarah loud and clear but as for condeming her own functions; it was another story. She turned her head, but the only thing she could make out were sharp lines and her own hand blurred against the floor. "Your friends aren't smart either, they put me in a good position though; running off in different directions. When they come back you'll already be dead." She felt as Sarah's feet moved about the room, the vibrations tickling her spine while the world was still out of focus.




✿ Sarah grabbed Kari's chin, looking into her eyes. "Everyone suspects John, I'm sure even Falman does but they have no proof. I pick girls because it bests fits him, because of his wife. But what I really want is my brother back. Ever since you state alchemists came you've neglected this city, and look what you've done to it." She let Kari's head thunk back onto the floor, her stomach churning more as she tried to move. "But it'll work on you. I'm sure of it." Sarah bent down onto the floor, completeing the circle with some sort of item before moving back a bit; putting her own hands on the floor and starting her experiement. And then everything lit up, the transmutation circle's glow signaling that it was beginning; and the proof was the burning that she felt in her own throat. Coughing and choking as the alchemy worked on her body's inner system, causing her to spit up blood.

✿ Kari coughed, sputtering up a little more blood while hearing more noise. Yelling, screaming, thumps and scuffs; a whole orchestra of sounds.





✿ The transmutation circle was broken but it didn't stop her from coughing, but then there was more noise. "What happened here?" She recognized it as Falman - Als and Ed's voices were both entirely different pitches - and someone had bent down and grabbed her hand, the feeling weird as their fingers pressed into her wrist; almost jello like.




✿ "Ed stop!" Kari felt his finger tips leave her for a moment, the room becoming quiet as she tried to blink again; and then she was hoisted up. The feeling different from human hands, so it had to be Al. "What did you give her?" Kari's head felt heavy as it fell over Al's arm, her ankles hanging off as well. This is where she heard Sarah speak, for the first time since she heard her wail, "I took it from John's garden, he's tied up in the field." She listened closely, Sarah's breathing sounding off and more hurried. And then she felt Al, his feet moving and the cold air pushing at her skin and hair.

✿ "Ed get it together!" Kari swung her head, turning it to the side while she huffed out tiredly. She felt a hand on her forehead, "She's hot. What did you give her?" Falman's palm left her but there were more scuffles as he pulled Sarah up.





✿ "I don't know! Just things from John's garden." Falman looked from her, to Ed and then Kari thinking while still keeping his grip. "You're going to have to go back to Central as soon as you can, there's nothing we can do here."




✿ "Ow! Stop!" Kari turned her head, wheezing a bit as she opened her eyes the image of their bodies were visible but could barely be made out. Falman had some how tied her up, locking her hands together.

✿ "Let's go," Falman had grabbed Sarah and no matter how much she tugged and pulled he didn't let go; dragging her to his house. Once they got there he looked at Al, "Go lay her on the bed."





✿ Al had done what he was told, giving Falman a quick murmur of acknowledgement before going into the spare room of Falmans house and putting her on the bed. The flat level surface made her stomach roll, her head feeling boiling hot. "I'm going to go look for Leguizamo, those were his herbs he might now how to fix her."




✿ With that he left, hurridly searching around the area Sarah said he was tied up at. Kari heard the door close and she sat up, all the blood that had rushed to her head had flushed out her face while she heaved and held onto the windowsill. "It would have worked on you wouldn't it?" Kari turned her head, looking at the only blurry person in the room; Sarah. "Right? It would, right" Kari huffed, her cheeks and forehead growing hot and red while gazed at Sarah, her eyes glazing over. "Yes." From across the room Sarah smiled, Al comming in and laying her back down. "I knew it."

✿ Kari sat up once again, Al fretting about her; but it just made her a tad sicker. She leaned against the window paine, the air from the outside cooling the glass as she touched it against her forehead.





✿ The help came sooner than any one probably would have thought and even though the door was already opened they had pushed it open more; slamming it against the wall as she felt herself being lifted up and hoisted into the ambulance car.




✿ Kari felt herself being touched, wrists, neck, forehead. Everything was being poked and prodded and needles were being placed, with 'ice' bags. She listened as someone had shouted something to either Ed, Falman or Al. "We're taking her back to Central, she'll be staying in a room at base." And that was that, the door closed and the car rolled against the gravel, bumping every so often as the tires kicked up the dirt.
