I wouldnt say that I belong to any defined religion. At least... not practicing. Im more of one of those people that believes more in things that I can see/touch/smell/taste. But I do think there is some higher power that is nameless that can and does pull the strings.

Honestly, Its been far too long for me since I have seen and or read Sailor Moon. So I couldnt say if there was any religion in it. If there was, it must have been small enough not to stick out in my mind.

Nariana
I, as you probably know, am a Christian. I go an Assemblies of God church, but I wish there weren't so many "branches" of Christianity. I know there some "iffy" parts that supposedly believe different than the basic belief...but I wish there was only the one main branch. It's so confusing! Ugh!

Also, there are some parts I kind of want to talk about with what Rei said, but religion in all is too cmplicated to properly discuss without becoming too personal from what I have seen...
I'll just ask: Why is Rei agnostic? You believe something, but...???

Agnostic- depending on who you're talking to- basically means that I cannot prove nor disprove the existence of a god. No matter which god it is.

I'm more or less consider myself between a 'Soft' Agnostic and an Apathetic one.

All depends on my mood sometimes. But I stick to that category. Especially since I usually always contradict myself-mostly because I type exactly what I'm thinking in that moment.

To answer my own questions! *and nariana, it is okay to get personal and to be open. We just all have to remember to respect others beliefs and not criticize someone just because they believe something. It is very hard to disagree with a belief because the person who believes it feels like the disagreeing person is disagreeing with THEM, not the belief. It can get very complicated.*

I am Christian, although I do not agree with some parts of the bible (but I do not necessarily DISAGREE with them either). The best example is the example of gay and lesbian marriage. I think that God might understand better. In the bible, it seems that the homosexuals were having sex purely out of lust (at least that is how i feel the bible portrays it). But if two people love each other, then I do not see a problem if they are the same gender. Does that make sense? That is just one example.

I have been to private schools all my life but I did not "accept Jesus" until I was in 4th grade (I was them promptly barraded at home as I was told "Well why don't you act like a better child then hmm? Aren't you following Jesus? If you act this way He won't love you" (according to my memory, I left something out in the living room--a book. Yes, its really sinful there. I think that is an awful thing to tell a child, regardless of having anything to do with religion).
My dad was catholic but he did not raise me (my aunt and uncle did). He thinks I am going to hell and he prays for my soul every night. I tell him I will see him in heaven someday.
My boyfriend is also agnostic, and christian. He sees himself as a mix. (I just asked him and that is all he had to say... he is not very talkative that one) xd In the past though, he has also said how he knows there is a higher power, a "god" he just does not know which one etc. To be honest, I try to convert him, however I am very passive so all I have ever done is tell him "Well if your not allowed into heaven I will lead a revolt and leave!" xd
About the sailor moon thing, I just kind of threw that in there to see what you could come up with.

I love reading all of your answers!! heart

By they way, if these questions are too personal or make you feel uncomfortable to answer, you of course do not have to partake in the discussion. smile

First of all, since I forgot before, I can't think of any good religion examples in Sailor Moon...Umm, they prayed at the Moon prayer tower. To who, Queen Serenity? I never got that or considered it much of anything.

Many agnostics here...I don't get it. x) Oh, well. Calling yourself agnostic almost sounds religious...
So confusing to me if it's not Christianity...Oy...

Luv, how the heck can you be Christian and agnostic?...xD Silly boy...
I wonder about the gay and homo thing in the Bible. It's a tough thing. I accept them, of course! They're just people. I feel kind of iffy sometimes about marriage and sex, but I understand that they love each other and whatnot. It's tough sometimes...

And yeah, I would like to discuss this topic more. It just feels too confusing sometimes comparing different religions and aspects of beliefs and stuff. You know?

xD; I just wrote what's there and what I've discussed with people before.

Someone thought Naoko T. is a Christian just because her drawings had crosses in them and that Rei attends Catholic school. <- This could be wrong and that Naoko like the rest of Japan enjoys -symbolism-. (She's Notorious for it.)

Like saying the creator of Utena is a follower of the Hindu Religion just because the two/three leads are Indian(from India).

Just because it's there doesn't mean that person hails from it. Unless they out right say it (Like the Left Behind series-I've never read it but still).

<<; >>; I'll be honest, I have picked up books on Witchcraft (Mostly Gardenia types of Wicca and the others similar to it. There's actually people that follow the Fae kind. ) and even picked in a few others. Most notably I -have- picked up and I have read part of The Satanic Bible by Anton LaVey and that there are several different branches of it (Though I stick with LaVey as he's far more reliable to look up.).

I sorta understood LaVey's reasoning for -why- he did it and it's understandable. More or less he took what was already there- such as Satan being more or less identified as 'Lucifer' (Even though this is actually wrong on some accounts as there's a LOT of different 'satans' even in the Bibles themselves) is shown as a more tragic/self-serving individual.

I can make this short and simple: Basically LaVey's type of Satanism isn't actually harmful to anyone-both in theory and in practice.

They Don't- Sacrifice Animals/Children/People at all. The only time it's OK to kill is when preserving your life or that of another.
Apparently Sex is the highest form of gathering energy rather then killing-thus why they don't kill.

They think that children and Animals are most honest creatures on earth that's why they're suppose to be protected.

They prefer to understand and participate in the occult because magic-in any form- is of an interest to them. They wish to explore it more thoroughly.

But that's just part of the thing.

From what one person of that sect told me a long time ago is that Satanists are more into individual worship of themselves. They view that nothing is higher then your own life. The here and now are to be celebrated.

At least that's what I remember. ^^; It -was- a long time ago. I just kinda think of them in terms of Harry Potter- They're the Slytherins of religions. Most are often wrong about them and never bother to get to know them.

I did a bit of research on it mostly because I personally- was curious to see what was the big deal about them or rather LaVey in particular.

I've Concluded that it became just another scapegoat in one sense of the manner like any other religious sect.

Simply: There are assholes everywhere. xD;

Thus concludes my rambles >3

Religion is a very tricky thing for me. There isn't a religion that I don't think that has been tainted by the hand of man. I do have a general idea what I believe and would classify myself as Pagan if I had to make such a generalization.

I believe in spirits and separate gods and goddesses, along with a large unifying energy that ties everything together. I am not very ritual minded and I view 'spellwork' as advanced praying, as it is a manifestation of mental visualization to get a certain thing obtained or to have something happen or whatever else...

With Sailor Moon I believe that it follows the Grecian Myths for the most part. In specific the one of the Moon Goddess Selene falling in the with Endymion (whom was either a hunter or a shepherd). There is also the Galaxy Cauldron and that is highly Pagan in idea. So there is a bit of that religion in it but it also has some Christian imagery, too, like the Holy Grail. I have also seen some Hindu and Buddhist things. It is hard to tell where it goes.

@Fuzz: o.o That's a good way of putting it. *Ponders* Didn't think of that entirely.

@ Nariana: XD; I'm sorry?

Vivid believes in higher deities and the big connection in short? Interesting....
Sailor Moon, now that I think, has too many different pieces to pinpoint one specific religion or anything. >_>

G'night...x__x

@Nar: Yep. I believe in a huge, unifying energy. I can not demean it by giving it a gender and is the thing that connects all living things. It resides in everything but is not something that I would describe as a conscious being. It feels very mystical to me; when I think about that energy, it makes me feel like all of everything is at my fingertips and yet nothing is there... okay, I'm rambling. It's a little stupid to describe it but I understand it and that is all that matters to me.

@Rei: I used to be a theologian when I was younger and made it a hobby to know about different religions.

Maybe I'm crazy, or watch too much anime/play video games/read manga etc, but I'm pretty sure I believe in fate. But I also believe that we have a choice in which fate/path we want to take.
I dunno- thats just me.

Calling yourself agnostic is a type of religion yes. Atheism is the one which is argued to be not a religion, I have seen debates about the differences between the two. If you are Agnostic, it is a "religion", one where you know there is some "high power" you just do not know which god is the real god. If you are Atheist, you do not believe in any religion-- it is the absence of religion. Does that make more sense?

I think what Tyler (my bf) ment by saying he is either Agnostic or Christian is this: If he believed in a god, it would be the christian God, he is just not completely sure yet. Does that make sense? He is on the boarder.

and yes I do understand! I also wish Christianity did not have so many different branches because when you get right down to it, most branches still believe in Jesus etc....

What is the Fae kind of religion? Does that involve faeries? To be honest, I totally believe in faeries and the like. heart The bible says nothing for or against it so I do not see it as any conflict, does that make sense?

I'm sorry, Rei. I had a brain spasm when I read your ramble. I don't really get all the religion stuff, so it was too confusing...xD

Vivid, I kind of see where you're getting at, but I'm a tad confused. It's fine, though. ^_^ Big, mystical energy that connects us all, to you.

Interesting, Kurai...I know we have a fate, but to me it seems like we feel that we can change fate only because we don't know what's ahead. Anyone get me?

Luv, I see. Agnostic is religion of people unsure about who's up there. Atheist is "no religion at all". Hmm... You ever tried to convince Tyler about God a little? =O
Ugh!! Too many frickin' branches! Most of them don't have any differences, except music!

Did I miss anything?...

I have! He says I have influenced him... I am a very passive person so it will probably be a slow gradual change. He was raised christian so the only I have to do is kind of pull him back, does that make sense? It is totally his decision though. The problem that he struggles with is the actual faith part. He like concert proof that he can see and touch so sometimes he finds it difficult to accept the bible, does that make sense?

No, Nar. Everyone and everything is connected to this energy, so everything is connected and not just to me alone.
