my friend and I found assorted candies on the floor, wrappers in the lockers and practice room, old reeds sometimes in their cases or a foot away, empty bottles of valve oil galore, a couple of stuffed animals, marching shoes all over instead of in the community bin (where graduates donate old shoes), an old hat from the last marching uniform from overfifteen years ago, AP euro books, music theory books, math books, music, a dozen binders, some pants, one guy's concert shirt and then the same guy's dress shirt, hackey sack beads,
really rank gym/swim stuff, water/pop bottles and papers.
the four weirdest sights upon walking into the band room were
1. folders that had been 'hidden' in crazy places*
2. a pair of boots suspended from a heating vent with half a roll of masking tape
3. a flute (dissassembled) hung by yarn from the lights across the room
4. a pair of scissors sticking out of the wall. they were in like an inch.
*in my bandroom, there is a policy of 'if you leave your band folder out, it can be hidden- so long as at least a corner can be seen- by some one in your grade or an older student or a band teacher. Once, some student's took the jazz ensemble/symphonic band teacher's folder and used as much masking tape as on the boots to the same spot.
