Soon the music began to echo in his head in the form of a head ache, the pounded at both temples. He moved out of the dance area and a way from the noise. He looked up and out of the window, and person having occupied the seat. Alan paused fidgeting for a moment placing his left over his right. He took another seat forwards then cleared his throat. "Amph..." He started before stopping and looking at the night sky. "Pretty night..." He said quietly as he stood in the door way of the alcove off to the side of the "dance hall". He leaned against one side of the door frame the light from the party behind him glanced and reflected off his armor making him look almost like he was glowing.

Crystalina looked down when she heard Alan's voice. She looked startled and embarrassed at the same time before regaining her smile.
- "It's beautiful...the party is a bit too loud, hm?"

Alan shrugged rubbing his upper arm. "Yeah..." He said quietly. "Plus it was getting a little musty." He looked around then looked out at the night sky. "What are you doing in here any way? I thought you would be at the party?" He said his voice slowly dropping in volume. "Besides you can't have the trio with just two..." He said before pushing off the wall. He made is way in and found a empty chain and slowly sank down into it. He seemed more interested in the floor then the sky at the moment.

The scribbles coming from the ball-point pen grew louder as his brow slowly furrowed. The music from the party was frightfully loud, and Nikolai's concentration kept breaking from the pounding in his ears. A soft grunt of displeasure came from him as he leaned back in his chair. He knew that he wouldn't be able to stay in his room and study the whole night, he also knew that if he tried someone was bound to come and try to make him go. Halloween was just another pointless holiday to him; what was there even to celebrate? Nothing, that's what. The only thing keeping him from avoiding the party all night, was the fact that he would disappoint Constance if he didn't attend. But, was it really a requirement to dress up? He really had no desire to do such a thing; dress up as someone he wasn't. That was the idea of Halloween, and he never even took part in the festivities of such a "holiday". As he stared at the ceiling, Nikolai wondered if he would even have fun, it was only a party anyways.

Standing up, he walked to his closet, picking out a couple articles of clothing and changing. He decided he'd make a small attempt to dress up, even if it wasn't a big change to the normal button-up shirt, vest and tie. Hopefully it would come out to Constance as effort at least, she knew that he wasn't a big party monster. Nikolai looked into the mirror at his new outfit. The same black pants and white button-up shirt, but they were now accompanied with a red vest that was black in the back, and a black bow-tie. He wasn't exactly sure whether he looked more like a waiter or a theater employee, but it didn't really matter much to him. Tightening the bow around his neck, his gray-eyed, black-haired, pale-skinned reflection stared back at him. He waited for a change, but never saw it. He was always waiting for a change, but he was looking to hard for it.

Slipping out of his room, he closed the door behind him, walking through the halls. His feet, which were covered by black dress shoes, led the way as he walked down the stairs and into the abyss of pounding music and dancing people. The music was too loud for his over-sensitive ears, but he'd been through much worse, so it wasn't completely terrible. He walked through the crowd until he found an open spot, where he decided to stand and watch the party-goers. He was surprised to find that watching such a variety of creatures collide and dance and converse together was slightly entertaining.

Constance spotted Nikolai and smiled, she'd been worried the most about Alan and Nikolai not attending, the two most anit social of her children. She slipped through the crowd, thanking a few of the parents who complimented her on her outfit until she reached him, "Nikolai, I'm happy you made it. You look very handsome." She touched his bow tie gently and glanced to the side, mirth making her eyes dance and mouth curve upwards, "And you're getting a fan club, it seems." She tilted her head subtely towards a knot of girls, reaching her senses out she discovered that they were the mermaid triplets who were big fans of her pound cake and visited often.

As he watched, the party-goers, he spotted Constance coming his way. "Constance," he greeted her with a small smile as she arrived in front of him. He looked down slightly as she touched his tie and complimented his outfit, "I'd hoped you would like it. But, look at yourself. Radiant as ever," he commented, gazing over her sparkling, snowflake gown. He always marveled at Constance's various party attires, she always made a gracious effort, and it always turned out gorgeously.

Nikolai turned his head to see his so-called fan club, then turned back to see Constance still looking at them. "Reading their thoughts, Miss Constance?" he laughed with a smile, which was a rare sight, thanking his head for not being able to read the girls' minds. "I don't wish to know what they are thinking. Besides, you're the only woman I would lay my eyes on," he said jokingly, taking her hand and kissing it respectfully. "And there's always the fact that I am surely much older than them," his accent shone in his seriousness, but that wasn't really the case, even if it had been around fifty years since he was turned at the age of eighteen. Age didn't matter to him, but it was a long shot for him to fall "in love". Even so, his relationships, which were scarce, usually ended with being misunderstood by the girl. No one really knew much about him, so they really had no way to understand.

Ranier playfully pounced on Letty before dashing off after his father. Tobias's loping pace far faster than theirs; they'd have to run just to keep up, which Ranier seemed glad to do. He glanced back at Letty, a grin on his face, long pink tongue lolling out the side of his mouth.

Constance gave an inelegant snort, "I don't have to read their minds, their body language says it all." She reached up and tweaked his nose gently, "Don't be fresh, besides, you don't want to compete with Alester, he'd eat you alive."

"Hmm, what's this I hear about eating? Who will I be eating? You I hope, Constances." Alester purred in her ear from behind.

Constance sighed, "Speak of the devil."

Alester looked hurt, "I am not!" The little red horsn sticking up from his plethora of white hair belied that comment. He glanced up, "Never mind." He grinned then offered a hand to Nikolai, "Nikolai, my boy! Looking sharp!"

Letty yelped in surprise as Ranier pounced on her, getting up and running quickly after him. She didn't know how great running with her own kind felt until now. All of those nights when she ran with Constance were special to her, but this? This was just a rush of complete adrenaline, her wolvine instincts taking over as she howled happily into the sky. She'd caught up with Ranier and jumped on him, rolling off of him to run once again. She looked back, daring him to chase after her as she ran towards the trees. Tobias had already entered the woods ahead of them, but in a slightly different direction, and Letty didn't let the thoughts of getting lost affect her as she ran trough the trees in a playful game.

Nikolai shook his head as Constance grunted, giving one last glance to the group of girls, and looking back to Constance with a small shrug of the shoulders. He chuckled at her comment of Alester, of course he wouldn't want to compete, but he was only kidding in the first place. Right on cue, Alester showed up behind Constance, and the edge of Nikolai's lip curved up in the start of a smile at her remark. They were a funny pair. As Alester extended his hand in greeting towards him, he took it firmly, nodding a ,"Thank you," towards him. "You're looking well," he commented.

Night wore on, Tobias stopped to let the pups romp a bit, do some exploring. Ranier managed to spook a rabbit out of it's hiding place and proceeded to chase after it, encouraging Letty to join along in a little game of tag.

Tobias sat down, his tongue lolling out the side of his , keeping an alert eye out while watching over the cubs play. It had been a long time since he'd had such a careless time of things, it was nice to see that it still existed at all. A soft breeze brought a startling scent to his sensitive nose and he stood up, letting out a bass growl that vibrated along the ground minutely.

Ranier stopped playing immediately, whipping around to look at his father, observing the tension in every line of his body.

(Can't remember if I described Alester's costume....oh well)

Alester was dressed as a Maverick, which hadn't surprised Constance when she saw him. He did look rather good, in a devilish sort of way, "I really do think you should have a dance with them, they can take turns. As for me, I'm taking Constance for a little twirl on the dance floor if she'll have me, I hope we see you out there." Without further ado, Alester took Constance's arm and whisked her away.

"Wait, we can't just leave him!" She whispered urgently.

"He has to make the decision on his own, let him make it." Alester replied quietly. The song was slow so he held her close and chuckled, "Though I did sort of put him in a tight spot....twins." He chuckled again.

The air in the tiny cave was stale, filled to the brim with the scent of her fear, exhaustion and pain. With her back pressed to the wall of the cave and both sides exceedingly close to her, she felt cramped and uncomfortable, trapped. It was her second day in this new world and she had yet to move from her fetal position on the ground.

Her head was throbbing and vaguely the sticky feeling of dried blood registered in her tired mind. Laying on her right side, Kesai tried to move very little, each little movement causing a jarring pain to rip throughout her abdomen. The grime on her upper arm was uncomfortable but no matter what she tried, putting any amount of pressure on her wrist was to painful to bare. She couldn't even feel her left leg.

A few silent tears dripped down her cheeks, just a few of many she had shed the past couple of days, scared and confused.

((Grr...I'd do more, but I'm really not sure what else to add...))

{Happy belated 18th birthday, Ichi : ) }

Letty scampered about, having a joyous time playing around with Ranier, switching between pouncing on him and chasing after the rabbit. The playfulness between the two began to seem like young love, but at her age it was simply just someone to romp around with, a playmate. She started to like the feeling of having someone her age and her own kind to play with, and she wondered whether she'd be able to play with Ranier all the time, or only on special occasions.

It was her turn to chase after the rabbit now, running with her tongue lolling out of her mouth as the rabbit put up a good pace. All of the sudden it turned into the trees, and she followed, loving this new game. But, as soon as Ranier and Tobias were out of sight, she caught the scent of something new. She stopped, staring in the direction of the new smell, which happened to be coming from a cave in front of her. Apparently Tobias had caught the scent, too, because his howl cut through the peaceful silence of the night, making Letty turn her head to look back in their direction. Her mind raced with curiosity, which made her step closer to the cave, her soft paws padding silently against earth beneath her. She didn't think about the possibilities of the scent belonging to a threat, but she was on alert; her ears up and her movements slow. Stepping into the darkness of the moist, eerie cave the scent heightened in Letty's nostrils. As she trailed further in, she could she the outline of a person laying on the ground, and then she saw it was a girl, a human girl. Now she was close enough to touch, Letty sniffing her body and circling the girl to look at her face. She could tell that the girl was hurt, and she gently licked her cheek, hoping she was alright.

Nikolai watched as Alester quickly whisked Constance away to the dancefloor, leaving Nikolai standing alone as he watched them dance slowly to the music. Even after all of those years, Nikolai could remember the nights he spent watching his parents dance together at night from the stairwell, and as he watched Alester and Constance it only reminded him of the way his father would look at his mother, and how perfectly happy and beautiful she'd look in the candlelight as they danced to endless records, content with how they were and who they were. Now Nikolai wished he could be that way, happy with who he was, but it wasn't easy for him. Even now with the possibility of dancing with a growing group of girls, who happened to be chattering even more with each other with the fact that he was now alone, he was unsure. Tonight was a night to feel free, but if that was correct, he should feel free to leave now that he had paid his respects for Constance. He didn't know if he could handle being fawned over by a bunch of girls who he hardly knew. They were quite beautiful, but he didn't like the idea of choosing one out of the bunch to dance with, and to be honest he wasn't in the mood to dance. So instead of doing what Alester and Constance hoped he would do, he bowed his head to the girls, resulting in a fit of giggles, and then turned into the crowd heading toward the stairs.

Tobias came up behind Letty and snarled a warning, moving in next to her she shoved the younger wolf back, putting her body between hers and the prone girls. Drivng Letty out of the cave before turning back. Foolish pups just running into situations, the injured party could have been something that lashed out when confronted. He grumbled to himself.

Ranier brushed his shoulder against Letty's reassurringly, eyeing the mouth of the cave apprehensively. He sniffed at Letty trying to get a picture of what she'd found, the smell of blood lingered on her, it smelled human to him.

One girl stepped out in front of Nikolai and crossed her arms, a cocky smirk tilting her rouged mouth, "Hey Nik, thought you'd be getting off easy, did you? Ha! I'm not like those bubble heads, giggling and gossiping. You know what I'm going to do? Do you? I'm going to ask you for a dance, and don't bother refusing because you already know you're going to dance with me." She grinned broadly at him. Sora was dressed as a female ring master, top hat and all. The crop was nowhere to be seen which was good for Nikolai. Her red hair she'd left down, her blond forelocks falling into her face as usual under the top hat. Mismatched eyes-one icy blue, the other gold-glinted up at him with their usual fire.

"So? What do you say, and keep in mind, I'm only being polite in asking you for your opinion in this matter."

Kesai turned blue eyes to look at the small creature that licked her, unsure what to think. It looked harmless to her but she knew better than to judge a creature based on outward apperencees. She shivered as another dank draft of air filtered into the tiny cave and tried to wrap her arms even further around herself in an attempt to keep warm.

Just as she was about to reach out and touch the little wolf, another one pushed her back and without realizing it Kesai attempted to put up a barrier, but the pale gray force field flickered and died, leaving her defensless as she stared up at the massive creature. Terrified, she let out a small whimper and tried to push herself away only to remember that she was already back to back with the cave and unable to go any further.

Letty was confused as Tobias pushed her out of the cave. Why was he snarling? Could an injured human girl really be of any harm to her? She was even about to reach out to her, but now Letty didn't know what to do. She felt Ranier's shoulder brush against hers in reassurance, but she was already concerned. She stood right at the edge of the cave, listening carefully and watching what she could. When the girl began to crawl away from Tobias' hulking figure, Letty could tell she was frightened, she could smell the fear in the girl's form. She started to whine, already attached to this girl whom she knew nothing about. Letty could see the pain and innocence in the girl's eyes as she went to reach for her. Maybe her youth made her believe that the strange girl was harmless, but nothing would change her mind until something happened to do so.

As the brash red-headed girl stepped out in front of him, Nikolai stopped and cursed to himself. Not only was this girl stubborn and horribly forward, but he knew for a fact that she wouldn't give up until she got what she wanted. "Sora. How.. Nice to see you," he greeted her, his slight displeasure showing a little in his words. It wasn't that he didn't like Sora, she was just so different and outspoken, not anything like girls from when he was still mortal. Her sass and spunk overpowered any sliver of class that she had, and she was much too controlling. "Why would the upbeat ringmaster want to dance with me, a quiet vampire who is fawned over by such 'bubbleheads', as you call them?" he asked, looking over her outfit and thinking how it matched her persona so well.
PostPosted: Wed Jul 16, 2008 6:50 pm

Tobias huffed at the girl, sneezing as her fear filled his nostrils. Shaking his large head he bumped her body with his nose, pressing his damp nose to her shoulder briefly before craning his neck and letting out a chuff.

Ranier, outside with Letty perked up and tilted his head. He pressed his nose to Letty's cheek and trotted inside, disappearing into the gloom of the cave almost instantly. He approached his father's back and wiggled past to peer at the injured girl before glancing back at his father. The large wolf lowered himself until he was lying on his belly. He chuffed again.

Ranier whined and moved cautiously towards the girl before stepping over her so he'd be able to push her. With his head, he bumped her hip, urging her towards his father. He whined softly again.

Back at Haven, Sora smiled, a slow curling of her perfect little mouth. Reaching out she she touched Nikolai's chest, splaying her fingers out there and she slowly pushed him back towards the dance floor, "Why, oh why you ask?" She murmered. Amazingly as she walked him backwards, he didn't trip or bump into anyone, "It makes me wonder why you ask why. You don't want to dance with me?"

Confusion reigned supreme as the massive wolf like creature dropped slowly to the cave floor and let out an odd sound. Oddly it didn't seem anywhere near as horrifying as it had standing.

Barely able to keep her eyes open, from both pain and exhaustion, Kesai continued to study the wolf warily, wondering what to do. It wasn't like she could run from him; honestly, even if she was in perfect condition she knew he could easily out-strip her. Still, that left her with no options and that terrified her even more. Swallowing thickly, she closed her eyes for a moment, terribly tempted to let the darkness claim her, when she felt something warm brush against her skin.

Surprised, Kesai turned immediately to look at the small wolf that was suddenly beside her and realize the warm feeling had been his fur through a tear in her clothing. When he bumped her again as if attempting to push her to the larger wolf, she glanced warily back at the creature, noting that it was still lying flat against its stomach. "You....are going to...help?" she asked softly, her voice barely audible. It occured to her that she was talking to a creature that couldn't possibly respond no matter how hard he tried, but at the moment she just didn't care. Any noise aside from her painful keens was a kind of music to her ears, espeically after the past two nights tearifying silence.
