A girl with long black hair had her eye closed in dismay as she walked alongside a shorter red-head, shaking her head. The tall twenty-three year old had been best friends with the other girl since they were born. Both girls grew up in the Vermillion Orphanage just next door to the Pokemon Fan Club. Although Rae's mother simply ran the Orpanage, she wasn't orphaned. Now Akari on the other hand...
"I'm not an idiot! I'm just saying things would be a lot easier if humans could turn into pokemon!" the red-head argued as the duo walked through the streets of Vermillion City. Akari and her best friend, Rae, had memorized these streets at a very young age. But Akari still probably couldn't get around without Rae there. Akari would admit to anyone that she acted younger than she should, but she'd been through a lot in the past twenty-two years and felt that she had a right to act however she wanted.

((Blastoise, Charazard, Ivysuar, Dewgong, Magneton, Gengar)) Marcus stood up and pulled a small map from his pocket "I should get check the Vermilion Gym its been a long time since I have seen Surge." he said and started to walk knowing the way to the gym of instant. He pulled his Mp3 player from his pocket and put in his ear buds and went his favorite song and began to sing aloud as he walked along not caring if anyone stared. He didn't notice the two girl walking as well and was about to plow right into the one with red hair but he wasn't paying attention as he was focused on getting to the gym.

"I'm sorry, what?" Rae shook her head and looked over at Akari as she started speaking, Rae noticed that a guy about their age was just about to run into the joyful red-head.
"I was saying that-"
"Akari! Look out!"
The red-head turned around only to get a face full of biceps. "Ow!" Akari backed up a bit and ran into Rae, clutching her nose.
"Hey, bud! Watch where you're going!"

((Blastoise, Charazard, Ivysuar, Dewgong, Magneton, Gengar)) Marcus felt something hit him in the arm and he looked down to see some red headed girl holding her nose and another girl yelling at him. He pulled out his ear buds and looked down "My apologize little lady." he said and grabbed her hand and lifted her up without any effort at all and made sure she stayed on her feet "I wasn't paying attention to where I was going and didn't notice you there." he dusted her off and smiled " Are you alright?" he asked.
"I will bring this world crashing down around you."

Her big turquoise eyes observed every visable, physical aspect of the well-built red-headed man in front of her. She was almost certain that her cheeks were as red as her own red hair.
"I'm alright."
"You'd better be thankful she's alright. If you would have broken her nose, I would've had to knock you senseless." Rae's voice wasn't harsh, but it wasn't plesant either.
Rae's ice blue eyes pierced the man's eyes like she was piercing his soul. Her eyes alone told a person that she meant what she said.

((Blastoise, Charazard, Ivysuar, Dewgong, Magneton, Gengar)) Marcus chuckled at Rae's statement but it wasn't that he didn't take her statement seriously as he knew she wasn't kidding. Marcus however was nearly impossible to hurt as he was not only built like stone but he had a secret that no one else knew about. He looked at Akari and rubebd her head "Sorry about running into you." he said and looked at Rae " I apologize for running into your friend here." he said and waved moving past them to continue onto the Vermillion Gym to see Sruge.

"He was kinda cute." Akari's cheeks were still red and her voice was much more ditzy than usual.
Rae looked over at her friend in terror. "Who are you and what have you done with Akari?"
"Where's he going? Let's follow him!" Akari said dreamily as she started to follow the brute.
"Wait a minute! Akari! That's called stalking!" Rae snapped as she started to chase after Akari.

((Blastoise, Charazard, Ivysuar, Dewgong, Magneton, Gengar)) It was a short walk to the gym and once there he simply stared at the gym with a smile before he continued inside to be met by Lt. Surge. Marcus and Surge gripped each other hands showing their strength in a small little wresting match. Marcus soon got Surge to back down but it only caused them to laugh. "Its hard to imagine you were once that little runt who came here trying to fight me with a Charmander!" he said "Look how you've grown up! Built like stone!" he said. Marcus chuckled " Still has charged at ever Lieutenant!" he said "How are the trainers looking these days?" he asked. Surge smiled "These kids are getting younger and younger but more skilled each year!" he said. Marcus chuckled "I saw a few earlier, its good to know your still in the game!" he said. Surge nodded " Yep, still showing these kids a thing or two about battling. Hey since its been awhile since I've seen you how about we have a little battle of our own so I can see how you've grown in yuor skills?" he said and backed up. Marcus simply nodded and pulled Blastoise's ball from his belt. He threw it in the air " Percy!~" he called as his Blastoise appeared and Surge called out Raichou of course. They took their position to battle though it was just a friendly little match.

"Ooh! Look, Rae! They're battling! See?" Akari gripped Rae's arm with a death grip and pointed to the two men partially engaged in battle.
"Yes, Akari. I see." Rae said less than amused with Akari's childish behavior.
"It's not stalking if you have a reason to be in the same place as the other person is, right? I wanna watch the battle~!" Akari sang as she darted up the gym's bleachers.
Rae sighed. "How is it that you can find a loophole in everything?" Rae shoved her hands into her black trench coat pockets and made her way up the bleachers only to find herself watching the match right alongside Akari, who happened to be bouncing off the walls.

((Blastoise, Charazard, Ivysuar, Dewgong, Magneton, Gengar)) Markus didn't notice the two girls from earlier enter the arena as he was busy battling Surge "Flash Cannon!" Marcus yelled as Blastoise began to gather light in its mouth and then launched it at Raichou who jumped to the side to dodge but Marcus saw this coming and was only using it as a diversion as Blastoise was abler to act much faster than other Pokemon "Tackle!" he said and Blastoise ran at Raichou and tackled it "Water gun!" he yelled as Raichou was in the air right in front of Blastoise's mouth he opened it and spit water at Raichou and went it flying into the wall behind Surge. Raichou got up still ready to fight though it was starting to look weak. Marcus didn't take time to think when he didn't have to "Spin attack!" he said and Blastoise began to spin and went right towards Raichou jumped jumped over him to avoid it "Flash Cannon." Marcus yelled not soon after and Blastosie gathered light while in its shell and sent it right towards Raichou hitting barely point blank.

Rae sighed. "If your brain was as big as your boobs, then I wouldn't have to explain it."
Akari pursed her lips and scrunched her eyebrows together. "You're just jealous."
"Would you just watch the battle?!" Rae snapped in disgust.

((Blastoise, Charazard, Ivysuar, Dewgong, Magneton, Gengar)) Marcus smiled "Blastoise! powerplay!" he yelled and Blastoise came out of his shell and sent a powerful Hyper beam right at Raichou and it hit knocking the Pokemon out. Marcus smiled and called Blastoise back into its Pokeball and smiled "I train my Pokemon to be able to switch from speed based to power based and then to all around." he told Surge who smiled and then looked up at the bleachers as did Marcus "When did you guys get here?" Marcus asked them having never noticed them. He smiled a friendly little smile "Did you enjoy the show? What did you think?" he asked as Surge went into his office.

"Are you kidding, Rae? Just impressive?! That was amazing~!" Akari leapped into the air with her arms in the shape of a V as she sang. "I certainly wouldn't be able to beat you. But not Rae! She'd totally kick your butt!"
"Akari... Shut it." Rae snapped, slightly embarrassed by Akari's praise.

He was always interested to see and meet new trainers or battlers though he wasn't really one himself.

Although Rae had beaten every region's Champion by the time she was eleven, Rae never considered herself a good trainer. She hated watching her pokemon get hurt, but they never seemed to have a problem with the way she battled. It was almost as if they wanted to battle.
"Oh come on, Rae! Go knock some socks off!" Akari pushed Rae forward a few steps, wanting to watch the girl battle again.
