I want to say something cool about making Denbe...
But I still didn't understand L5R at all when I made him, so I basically checked with Rain constantly and attempted to make him vaguely combat focused with dabbling in any other field I could conceive being useful. The longer the game goes on the more I'm convinced they're all useful, and that's pretty cool.

Yeah. The rest of the PCs tend to be specialists.
We have One Archer Type (Kojiro, by default. I plan on emphasizing it as he gains experience.) One Iaijutsu Specialist (Zanzen) One Damage Specialist (Seichiro) One Allrounder (Denbe) One Craftsman (Kagae) One Courtier (Hisashi) and One Shugenja (Kyumi)

You make it sound like a bad thing plain. One spree of luck making a sword and I make a legendary weapon : O

Mmm...that may be well and good, but Kojiro would discard that Katana for his Grandfather's rusted, waterlogged one if it ever were found.

I generally like trying to focus EXCESSIVELY on something most people would not want to build a character around (I've wanted to make a jiujutsu master a lot for some reason. In D&D 4e I for a long time wanted a character whose whole purpose was to have tons of forced movement, with intention of slinging enemies into/off/around the environment instead of damaging them for kicks).
Otherwise, I tend to default to taking as many skills as I can while still being a viable combat presence.

You should ask Raganui about his monk that kicked his brother's character around like a weapon. ><

>.> He also got really powerful right as the DM dropped the game due to Touch of Golden Ice and a nat 20 will save.

Just realized that it's Grandpa Hida vs Sayoko in the second round. That should be interesting

I didn't do anything which provoked such a response.

I could argue the point about how tossing a bucket of water on her kinswoman *Might* Provoke a response.....but technically, she only knows you guys are involved *Somehow* in the crab tent going *KABOOM*
However, have you seen how she's singled out Hogai?

Because I'm not there or at the least off to the side away from public humiliation via Raicho methods.

Well, you did say that Kagae would be hanging out with Hogai...or am I missing something? I seem to have swallowed a black hole and become ultra dense.
