then what good is it having my talent then... she asks in a glum tone.... i mean iffin ye know someone is going to get hurt bad... or ye can save someone a great deal of pain or.. or even keep them alive... why can't ye use it? i'd... i'd rather not know........

I said Ye shouldn't try to change the future, Shia...but that doesn't mean you cannot help...you can tell the person...or you can prevent the accident...the weaving is not set in stone, child....just don't go changing the future in a serious way....no predicting the next great war, or who wins the next election...got it?

but... what iffin the one person ye save goes on to be the next mass serial killer or something stupid like that... sorry, uncle kero... i guess what i'm saying is i can't see everything... and sometimes what i see is so confusing... what iffin i help the wrong person or do the wrong thing?

Sometimes, kiddo...you're going to make mistakes...and you will have to learn that our mistakes don't just hurt us, Shia...they hurt others, too...if it helps, by the time you're powerful enough to see the future in time to save someone...you'll be able to read their soul...so you'll know if they'll have a tendency to be wicked or good...that's not a perfect method...but it helps somewhat...
Now, I think we've covered this topic enough...any other questions, about life in the Void, about me, anything? And word to the wise...I don't give free questions often...ye should take advantage of it...

ummmm.... why can't i just go out and explore.... like i do here... what's so dangerous... i mean i read yer book and all... i know there's some dangerous creatures here.... but iffin i shift shape or can port meself back to me room at the first sign of danger, why can't i simply see fer meself what's out there?

Didn't I tell you about the timestreams? Except in my office, time accelerates or decelerates in the Void...one second you'd be older than me...a minute later, you'd be back in diapers...trust me, I know...it happened to me once...made me glad I'm technically ageless...

Most of us are ageless, Shia...and my influence protected you...I was only affected because I was tired, and got cuaght by suprise...I was only 50,000 when it happened, kiddo...

All of the above...I was originally a dragon...but I became a human when I was fostered...then when Emnast murdered me, Hopian brought me back as a lion...I chose this form when I became a Voidmage...began favoring it about 25000 years into the job...before that, I favored the form of a centaur...
