Ruin said, as he placed drew one of his healing potions out of his pack and with cautious steps proceeded as far as she would allow him(if she would allow him, he would give it to her).
Succeed or fail, he would also study the gate(and curse himself for not paying more attention to his mentor) as some else took her attention.

As Ruin approaches the Goliath woman points her spear at him. "That's close enough. Take one step closer and I will attack. Like I would be fool enough to take your potion." After another moment she would add. "Why should I talk to you? I know you are responsible attacking those soldiers and one of your members already attacked me! What possible thing do we have to discuss?"
Ruin can tell their is strong magic of a trans-dimensional nature surrounding the stone archway, linking it to some distant point. While this is normal for what one would suspect from a portal, what odd is the magic is not static as one would expect. The magic surrounding the portal seems to be intensifying as if it is going to engulf the entire structure.

The Goliath woman gives Ruin an Incredulous look. "I think you misheard me earlier. My whole point being here is to protect this gate. Why would I do the exact opposite?"

Seeing the conversation wasn't going anywhere particularly fast Valac drank down the potions he was given while keeping an angry eye on the Goliath.

Twyla's eyes would flicker between Ruin, and the very tall and unhappy looking Goliath woman. She had to say something.
"Of course we wouldn't ask you to abandon your post for no good reason. We want to hire you. And we'll make it worth your while." She would pull a few platinum pieces out of her purse and flash them to the woman. "Just a fraction of the riches we're prepared to hand over for your aid, in addition to our expert help in aiding your escape and disappearance from Aria. The fight here is already lost for your side--surely you saw Arians fleeing en masse? And you know that we outnumber you, and challenge you, which we wouldn't do unless we knew we would best you. But let me extend the offer--you don't have to stay on the losing side. Join us, and be among winners like you deserve."
((Bluff: 29, to convince the Goliath woman that we will pay her handsomely and protect her from Aria if she defects to our side.))

The Goliath woman raises her eyebrow at Twyla's offer. "That's quite a proposition you offer. I cant make a decision like that lightly . Give me a minute or two to consider your offer. There are things at work for me I can't openly discuss. "

"It is, and I understand your reasons for hesitations, but as said we are under a time constraint." Ruin added, trying to make the goliath woman rush her decision. "As it stands, we are cutting it close... and our boss doesn't like us late."

The goliath woman gets a bit indignant. "I will take as much time to make this decision as I like! This is a serous matter and I don't even know who any of you are! Why are you even here and why do you want to destroy this gate?"

Pinching the bridge of his nose, "Apparently, you misunderstood me. The Arian military are doing experiments; where they attempt to fuse a person with a monster together to create a creature with sentient mind. The test subjects are usually children and other innocent individuals. Don't believe me, behind us are several individuals that have survived it and escaped with new... abilities and scars. Since then have been hunted by the same people who experimented on them. And behind them are two carts that housed two small children and many others, who were bound for that fate. We attacked the soldiers to stop those carts. And now need this gate gone, or we will need to continue to kill many more soldiers to stop future carts from taking this path."

The goliath woman would simply respond to Ruin's examination with an "Oh..." and cast a nervous expression at Valac. "...you don't say. "
The Goliath woman would let out a sigh. "Well as terrible as all that sounds unfortunately it has nothing to do with me and there is nothing I can do about it. Seems like you guys won the day already anyways. I'm going to have to reject your offer, my honor cannot be bought, but If you are willing to wait a few more minutes I can promise you you will be safe from counter attack and I can also complete my mission. Otherwise, I will slay you to protect this gate."
As Twyla observes the girl she does not get the impression that she disbelieved their bluff. However, she does feel her request for time to consider their offer wasn't sincere. In fact, you think she might have just been stalling for time.

With the last of her arrows fletched and her body rested, Kuori begins to sprint for the gate, bow in hand. It didn't seem like the commotion of a fight had broke out yet, which was a great thing.

"We don't have minutes..." Taking one final look at his immediate allies, hoping for a none fighting idea. "On the bright side, Kouri isn't near to witness the death of a younger." Ruin tossed the potion he offered her at her feet, before drawing his implement and summoning his blade. "Prepare yourself and for what it's worth; I am sorry, but your honour isn't worth Illya's life."
