"There's a crack already in it from the dark energy combined with mine... If we do it again, it's sure to break from the energy within it." Jos said, looking over at Shade. She wondered why Larken even captured her if they were going to be rescuing Shira anyways. It wasn't like they were going to leave her. Kazelina... she hoped she was surviving alright. She glanced up at Shira, but noticed something was wrong. She jumped up the wall and landing on the crystal. She placed her hand as it sunk it with the crystal. What's wrong Shira? her mind entered hers as she was able to hear Shira.

Take care... of Larken... Shira managed in her mind as the coil of dark energy tightened. Don't... break... the crystal... forget me...
Larken glanced up, almost lazily, from the fight. The impudent girl was fighting her restraints. She was smart enough to figure out his plan. He had to force them to destroy the crystal. He waved his palm, and the dark energy wrapped around her body and squeezed. She jerked in pain. Larken smiled. That would do it.

Jos looked down over at Larken, seeing he was doing this to force them to break Shira's crystal. She slipped her hand into the crystal as she started to absorb the dark energy the was radiating from the crystal. She would have to hold out the dark energy that Larken was using before Kaze managed to defeat him.

Larken frowned. The girl was seeing through his plan. It was time to go for quantity rather than quality, so he filled the entire crystal with smoky dark energy, until Shira was barely visible.
Shira's vision blurred as her body tried to cope with the sudden rise of evil. Go! she thought fiercely. She couldn't let these people die on her account. I'll be fine. She knew in her heart it was a lie.

Vaati growled, unsure of what to do. Breaking the crystal looked too easy, but he didn't want to have to deal with Shira's death if she magic in the crystal killed her. That would not only hurt the progress, but the morale of the group, and that would make it harder for him to go home. Perhaps... he could just distract Larken and let everyone else deal with the darkness in the crystal. That had to be the answer.
The wind mage stepped back and let the anger flow through him. His skin turned dark purple, and his form shifted suddenly from a Hylian to a giant circluar monster with a single eye and two giant metallic claws. The monster grabbed Larken around the waist and pulled him away from Kaze. He was, in the very least, a distraction.
((If you don't like that, Vaati's weakness is quite obvious.))
Dark chuckled. "If you found him in the first place, you could probably find him again, right? Darious isn't the type to leave a battle unfinished." Dark shrugged as he crossed his arms over his chest.

(Wait, Larken is fighting Kaze.)
Shira couldn't breathe. Even if she could, there was no way she would try to breathe this poisonous smoke. She held her throat and vainly beat against the crystal. Tell... Kaze... don't... kill... him... she thought to Josline.

Larken blinked calmly, looking down at Vaati's actual form. "Ah, Lord Vaati. I thought it was you, but I couldn't tell in that pitiful little form. You look like the pictures from my spellbooks." Larken ran through his options. He could get himself free, easy, but he wouldn't be able to hold Shira in the crystal at the same time. He opted for giving her relief, even for a few seconds, while he fended off Vaati. Larken heaved his blade up and thrust it downward, aiming for Vaati's eye.
(I love being bad guys, even if they lose at the end.)

Kaze cursed and rushed forward. "No you don't!" He quickly lunged, aiming to kick the sword out of Larken's hand. The sword flew about five feet away, embedding itself into a wall. After Larken had been disarmed, Kaze quickly swung his swords around, hoping to end it with a final blow to Larken's neck.
(Now would be the perfect time for Josline to stop Kaze.)

The dark smoke cleared. Shira breathed deeply, wiping sweat from her brow. That had been close. Then she saw her brother, gripped tightly by what appeared to be the primary form of Vaati the Wind Mage as Shira had heard of: a monstrous eyeball with two thick arms with metallic pincers on the ends. In one of the pincers was Larken, swinging down towards Vaati's singular eye. Kaze appeared out of nowhere and knocked the sword out of Larken's hands just before he swung his blade towards his throat. "No!" Shira screamed, pounding on the crystal.
(I hate cliffhangers...)

Vaati's eye moved over Kaze, merely acknowledging the fact that Kaze helped. Then his eye moved over Shira. His gaze narrowed angrily at her, as if he was trying to tell her shut up her mouth. Larken caused too much trouble, and according to Vaati, he deserved whatever was coming.

Josline slipped her hand right into the crystal as the smoked was sucked into her hand. Shira, if you're going to survive this, you have to stop this darkness is evil, not all darkness is evil. It can be turned into power... and Darkness is light! Josline said as light started to replace the smoke and light up the crystal. Jos blinked when she saw something deep in Shira.
