Twyla would make shooing motions with her hands at Kuori and Ruin. "Hush, hush, you guys, we're not fighting this girl or anyone else right now--except maybe eventually that tall weirdo Valac the Unwaiting ran off to chat with--so there's no need to get all shouty."
She would open the door to the wagon and reach her hand out to help the girl past her statue of a brother. "The lizard lady is hiding away right now; she's close, but you won't see her. She's a victim of the same people who took you, and like Mr. Ruin said, she means no harm.
"Come down and stand here with me and you'll see that I wasn't exaggerating about restoring your brother. Watch! This won't take but a second."
To Fumiyo, she would say, "So that's where the Soulcleanser was! Mr. Araethos made us fight a big tree dragon to get mine! Miss Fumiyo, if you might, would you start with the other cage? I promised this girl I'd help her brother personally, so it might take a moment to get to the others."
With an expert flourish, she leveled the wand at the stony form of the boy in front of her, and whispered the magic word: "Sinurien."

SCN_ Grey_fox (will roll a intimidate roll if needed, some players like it...*looks at Rain*) ((*is intimidated by SCN's look!!!*)) With not much to do at the moment, Revenge would simply survey things. There was a too-many-chefs-spoil-the-soup situation with the children, but the other charismatic one in the party was trying to diffuse it already. Valac ran ahead, but Revenge hadn't really had the opportunity to rest yet, so he was in no condition to engage that foe, let alone keep up with the barbarian. The best he could do is throw himself upon the foe's weapon. The other girls seemed to be moving to support as well anyways. Petra was distressed but Arthur was taking care of her. Holding the haft of his halberd with both hands off to his right side as a brace, he would simply wait in silence, his tail flicking back and forth every once in a while. Quote: Short rest initiated, 4 minutes 54 seconds remaining...

Valac hearing the Goliath's response grinned his signature devilish grin taking deliberate exaggerated steps punctuating what he would say.
"I would like to see you try..." Sneered Valac his words dripping with malice and provocation.

At Kuori's words the girl starts crying again, but quiets down once Twyla speaks to her. It seems she has at least come to trust the gnome. At first, when Twyla opens the door, the girl does not stir from the back of the wagon, but eventually she moves into the light. The girl looks to be around 11 with dirty blond hair and tan skin and clothes that are barely more than rags. She takes Twyla's hand and cautiously moves around her petrified brother to climb out of the wagon. She looks warily at Kuori and Ruin as she waits for Twyla to use her wand. As Twyla says the magic word, a bolt of energy jumps from the wand and strikes the statue of the boy. The boy's pallid skin quickly returns to tan flesh as he slumps forward out of the wagon. The boy hits the ground with a thud but quickly jumps to his feet with a surprised look on his face. His sister shouts "Callan!" as she runs forward and hugs him. The boy looks around dazed. "What happened? How did we get out?" After using the wand, the tip of it blackens a bit and Twyla can tell the magic stored within it feels a bit diminished. Fumiyo moves over to the open wagon and begins to use the Soul-Cleanser to un-petrify the other individuals. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To Valac's provocative behavior, the goliath woman would simply state "You were warned." before charging at him with her spear. ((Valac roll initiative! To everyone else, the gate is roughly 1 minute away, if you run. For anyone who wants to try and help Valac, it will take ten rounds to reach him, if you start running towards the portal in your next post. When you arrive on scene you have the normal penalties for running that you have in battle. The demi-humans moving towards the portal will arrive at the portal on round 15. Seraphina and Ramona might arrive sooner if they choose to start flying.))

Valac having provoked the Goliath being ready firstly quickly muttered something in Abyssal and a demon was summoned right behind her.
While she was distracted by this new opponents appearance Valac counter charges her, screaming in his usual feral nature dealing her a mediocre blow.

The Line in the Sand (The platform for the portal is one square off the ground. ) Initiative Order Valac, HP: 16/56 Grabbed, Weakened, Bloodied Summoned Demon: 18/28 Grabbed, Weakened ???
Valac rushes in and manages to catch the side of the the goliath woman's arm with his blade as she attempts to parry his blow. She looks momentarily surprised at the appearance of the demon behind her but she soon smirks. "I see you have some surprises. Well, I have some too." The goliath woman shifts back away from Valac along the side of the demon. Two powerful looking tentacles suddenly spring from the goliath's back and lash out at both the demon and the barbarian. They are quickly trapped in their strangling grasp. (Valac and the demon are both grabbed, weakened, and take 18 and 10 damage respectfully.) The goliath woman's eyes change color to red with cat like slit pupils. "You didn't think they would entrust the guarding of this important gate to just one person without reason, did you?"((Before I move on to round two, I need to know what the rest of the party is doing. From the distance everyone can tell Valac is fighting with the tall person at the gate, but you can't tell any details about the fight.))

Kuori looks at Revenge, Looks at Valac, Looks back at Revenge, And promptly sits on her a** with her bow across her feet. "If we rush in now he'll did before we get there. With any luck they'll go back to guard duty afterwards. If not, Ramona can go destroy the gate while we distract the guard. But for now ..." She props her elbows on her knees, hands curled together and cradeling her chin.

"You can reach his sooner than any of us with that bow of yours. You should go help him," Revenge would advise to Kuori. "I'm better suited trying to tend to my injuries now and hold this position. If any Arians come, I'll need to protect these children and the Gladesdale guards. Possibly Petra too, if the guards are particularly vindictive."
A pause. "Some of the girls are heading that way too. If anything, go and try and protect them. If that person Valac is fighting thinks they are coming to reinforce, he'll try to engage them. Please?"
((If Kuori runs, she moves 14 squares a turn, so her maximum longbow range would get her in attacking range in 7 rounds, not 10.))

Ruin's original plan; was to wait on Vi's return and judge from her report, whether the gatekeeper had to go, or not... But, With the children's safety was no longer a question, and not one of Kuori's group seem keen on helping their foolish friend. Ruin felt that he owed the barbarian for his help, at the least.
"Anyone else coming?" He would state plainly, briskly walking over to Abby's cart. He would only wait a few moments, for someone to speak up or be left behind.
(No one mentioned taking the horsey! Help is coming Valac, don't die!)

"And I'm better served getting my special arrows put back together. When Valac goes down they'll go for me next and I don't have s**t left up my sleeve. You saw how much trouble those guards gave me."

"Oh for Garl's sake--" muttered Twyla as she saw the two figures begin to fight. She knew her magic was all but spent, but perhaps she could persuade the tall guard to at least leave them alone? Her group had been trying to keep people from going through the portal, and they did. As far as she was concerned, they had no plans on going INTO it and didn't need to tussle with this guard at all.
But, leave it to Valac the Unthinking... Still, she felt a pang of fear. She'd been getting fond of him, thick skull and all. She wanted to help.
"I'll come, I'll come," she said to Ruin, "but if he's dead when we get there, I can't help carry him back."
With that, she stowed her wand and picked up the pace to reach Valac--or what was left of him--as soon as she could.
((Moving towards Valac.))

Revenge would sigh, and stand. "Then do me at least this one favor. Stay here and watch the people, make sure no one gets hurt. We'll be back."
MOVE ACTION x2
Since Revenge had been off in the back watching everyone and trying not to butt in, he'd likely have to take two move actions to get to the same wagon as Ruin. Thankfully he wasn't sitting! He'd have to wait to next round to unhitch a horse.
(Edited upon finding out we were measuring actions on our end too)

"To be honest I thought they were leaving the least important behind to die as rear guard... Maybe I was right." Valac said gesturing at the tendrils coming from the Foliat with his head. Then tensing his muscles Valac tried to break free but failed miserably. Wriggling slightly he tried again and broke free....? Valac may like trying his luck and being bone headed but the reality of a strong fresh foe against an exhausted Valac had sunk in and he slunk away getting ready to fle- Strategically advance in the other direction.

Grabbing Revenge's hand, before he made the slicing cut, "Just jump on and drive." Ruin would state before taking the crossbow seat.(edit: Rain changed his post)
