blacvamp Kayla, i need a critic. What do you think about my new design? I'm trying to view a very demented statement. xD x x x
I know you weren't asking me, but I think the image - the chair, the person, the plug - is amazing. It's just totally eye-catching, and the layering of 'shadows' is absolutely fantastic. The grainy background is a lovely touch. Very jarring as a whole. Just, er, one graphic person to another. >>;
Kayla; Haha, see that's what I thought about that banner - that it's not many peoples' cup of tea; in fact, I almost didn't submit it, and was stunned when it won, and even more stunned when you and blacvamp started using it.
And thank you! God, online magazines, an area I could never get into. Freaking intense s**t right there. I'm so glad you like my style, I've never been very sure about it, and it's very reassuring to hear such things. redface x x x

*wince* It wasn't intended to sound that way. It's honesty; most of the techniques I use were learned from tutorials and suggestions at a graphics forum, where certain things are 'in' and you use those things to make ~cool stuff~. And it's been, idk, awkward to develop a unique style with that kind of influence. I've learned a lot, but I'm also really unsure about what's accepted as a 'good' style outside of that community.

Kayla: You can kick my a** for making conversation. xD
Candycoated Toxins : That's how i learnt. No one really cares whether you followed a tutorial or not. If you have a goal to your design, all you need is to pull it off. I always ask for critique, usually after i publish it. xD So i don't hesitate to edit and then republish after the critiques. The best works out there is the ability to 'draw' your own effects, and using your own stock images. But i know that's difficult, because spending so much on royalty free sites for stock images is just a waste of money, and asking permission on free stock images is a pain. I wish i could draw, even got myself a Wacom tablet to get motivated, but nope. If you want to look at a masterpiece clearly made through the knowledge of several popular tutorials,. HERE.

Nothing & nowhere! sweatdrop That's why I have so much goddamn time on my hands =X
I'm going to go back to school this fall, though. I have my GED & have taken some classes at Community Colleges, so this fall I'm either going to take enough classes at a Community College to count as a "Full Time Student" or enroll in UDC [University of the District of Columbia... what we in the US call "State Schools", even though DC technically isn't a state], since I would get accepted there by default since I have a GED & am a citizen of DC. Either way, I'm going to apply to various Liberal Arts colleges across the country starting next fall, & so hopefully I'll be at a good four-year college not this fall but the fall after that.
My long-term career plan is to just get through a four-year college, then go to the best law school I can get into.
By back-up plan for a career though is to just go to Beauty School & become a hairdresser or something, if I end up for whatever reason never going back to normal school or whatever. It's the quickest & most sure way to a stable career that I can think of, since you can do it in about a year or so.

Then get into GED, less work. And you're just going to study there to enter a good law school later.
Or become a dentist, i heard they are richer than the usual doctors. o_o

I think GED is something different in India than it is in the US. Here a GED is like a High School Diploma, so I'm confused, lol. But my plan is kind of to go to a relatively shitty four-year university, & just get really good grades my last two years there, choose a major that's ideal for law school [history, english, or philosophy... I'd probably choose history regardless], score really well on my LSATs [Law School Admissions Tests], & then go to the best law school I can. My dad went to a state university & ended up at Harvard Law, so I know law schools don't but that much weight on what college you attend.
&, omg, I'd never be a dentist. I've always wondered who the hell would want to specialize in ******** teeth... & eyes... & feet. Dentists do make a lot of money though, especially Orthodontists.
If I was going to go the Med School route I'd probably be a Cardiovascular or Vascular surgeon. If you're a Cardiovascular surgeon in a big area like New York or Los Angeles you're making at least half a million dollars a year :3 Plastic Surgeons also make a TON of money in the US these days, but dealing all day every day with the types of people who wants boob jobs & nose jobs would make me sick.
I could never go to Med School anyway, though... My brain & science don't get along, & all the blood & goriness would totally get to me.
Do you know what type of doctor or whatever you want to become?
