I think I one uped number one. I left my drum on the stage over night because we were going to play another concert the next day...Dumass janitor left the lights on too long and my drum caught on fire. Thankfully it was put out quickly since he was standing next to it when it happened. We've yet to replace the drum...lol.

sykopath2008 i am planning on expanding this with your comments... *note these have all happened... not to me... but i hear stories* 1. Leave a drumstick on a stage light for so long it combusts. 2. Get you crash cymbals suctioned together during a crash. 3. Knock off more that one chime on a set of wind chimes. 4. Dent the gong 5. Snap a marimba bar. 6. Hit a phenolic bell mallet so hard it shatters into five or more pieces. 7. Crack the head of a timpani during a drumroll. 8. Break the triangle. 9. Crash a pair of cymbals and have one of the cymbals fall off of the handle during the crash. 10. Lock the drum key in the drum while you are replacing the head. 11. Drop your marching bass drum and have it roll down a hill. 12. Spell "roll" wrong while editing your music. 13. Trip over your own snare drum/bell straps 14. Drop food down a the resonator bar of a mallet instrument 15. Actually KEEP your music an entire season! ok all of tht stuff is true..but u left out... 16.if u band director is a b***h..stab them in the heart!! smile

Oh god, let's see. We've had a domino effect in the percussion section during a practice after school. Jeremy tripped over someone's chip *marker thing*, then luke attempted evading him, but his quads caught on jeremy's head. Then AJ tripped over Luke's leg, Dre slid on one of luke's mallets, Nick tripped on Dre's shoe, that flew off because it was TOO BIG D<, Renata dropped her bassdrum and fell over the carrier, I tripped over HER bass drum, Alex tripped over me, Brandon slid on Alex's mallet, and Deodis tripped over brandon's legs. Needless to say, we stopped the song and we all had to do push ups.
But our huge domino effect kind of screwed up the brass line behind us. Causing 4 trombones, 2 horns, and 7 trumpets to all either drop their horns or fall. neutral Also, during practice for our homecoming game earlier this year, two of the snares got into a small...scuffle. o: AJ threw his stick at nick, Nick took AJ's drum and rolled it across the field, AJ THREW nick's drum across the field. The carriers were disembobbled... Sticks were flying and Mr.B was yelling. o:
The kid playing the symbols during our SHOW had a crash at the end of September (Earth Wind and Fire). He crashed, but it lasted .05 seconds because the handle from the symbol slipped out of the symbol, because ZACK (annoying kid), kept twisting the symbols in the stands trying to be cool. :/
We also had a time when we were marching out in 1st period to the field to practice, and some chick pushing the podium slipped and the kids behind her with the xylo. and bells tripped over her and the podium and we had to fix the bells in studio band. neutral
We have rusted mallets, mismatching mallets, our chimes are busted, we've got two sets of timpani, which are very easily broken. The pedals come off. Our bells broke a while back and we've 'fixed' them countless times, the snares need new drumheads, our marching bassdrums are BUSTEDUP, we've broken drum heads, we've found countless halves of snare sticks, our cow bell is cracked, and we've got two triangles. 1 of which is rusted.
One time in Concert band, Dre was doing a roll, and lost grip of one of his sticks and it ended up in the flute section. o__o; Don't know how that happened.
Urm, what else? I can't remember everything. neutral
Fact: We've had the same cadence for over 50 years. neutral I'll express my love for you, in the key of Eb minor.

How about be a percussionist, with an absolute hatred of all other instruments, and have your instructor come up to you with a french horn and tell you you'll be playing it in the field band performance?
I had to do that, and when he first handed it to me I thought he wanted me to actually play something. However, he just wanted me to blow air through it into a microphone to make a wind sound. He scared the Hell out of me at first.

sykopath2008 `~[Christine--Daae]~` Try this one: Leaning back in your chair until you fall, the chair tips the snare drum into the trombones, you smack your head against the wall, and start flailing until you hit the windchimes. This all happened to a kid I know, and our director didn't even notice the trombones yelling at Nico! Or, try kicking a mallet out of a xylophone and have it land on the suspended cymbal--IN THE MIDDLE OF A CONCERT! We've dented the gong, decapitated mallets, the timpani has a hole, we always lose everything because nobody puts it in the right place, we've...what do we have? Oh! We have one rusty bar on the bells, and nobody knows why, the xylo. keeps losing a wheel, the bass drum has a loose screw(as do many of our members in our band) Half the snare drums are busted, we've got a splintered mallet that we can't find the other one of, music from years past in the drawers, our slapsticks are broken, half the stands fall when you put sticks on them, and the only thing that's remotely new is the vibraphone. How's that work for ya? my head's spinning... i think i found a more disfunctional percussion 'family' than mine! wwe can never find the right sticks and more than one person plays on a drum. throw a drum stick at director him catch it and say nice throw. break five sticks in a row and beat lightly now on the bass drum with metal tenor sticks. while only broken on bass head for marching season

Have the bass Drum SNAP off your back (During Marching Band) and land on your feet, then rolling forward and hitting the person's heels in front of you, causing most everyone to go out of step.
I've seen that happen... Twice?

Me~~ I dropped the gong. In the middle of a concert. And the same concert a friend of mine dropped the ride cymbal.
Or have those cheap glow in the dark drumsticks for parade or something, and the tips snap off?
~~Ow~!

I broke the base drum head during practice. The next day at a competition our replacement base drum was forgotten. I broke a bell mallet after state champs. [[Boy did I get lucky. ^_^;;]] My friend broke a mallet in half and glued it together and we still use it. My friend was pushing the vibe after a competition and knocked it over. At our first competition this year the bar holding the marimba keys decided to fall off during the ride over there. The gate of the trailer used to transport our timps and such fell on my hand, happened in October, sucker's still swollen. Our timp player succesfully managed to break two out of four timpani heads. The smallest timpani had half a wheel, took half of the marching season to get our BD to replace it. The wheel on one of the timpanis likes to fall off randomly while being pulled. The pedal on one of our vibes works but it falls, even if it's been fixed. The only new thing we have is our timpani wheels.

Two days ago, during practice, one of my bass mallets snapped and flew at my band directors head. Thankfully he saw it before it hit him. I still have to buy another one though.....
