Bloodfang was pierced by both sets of arrows. Singeclaw's arrows peppered Bloodfang in his back, while Barrack's arrows pierced his paws and legs. Bloodfang collapased from blood loss.

"Hey, I think I got the leader!" Lightpaw shouted.
" D-it Lightpaw! We're triing to see what Bloodfang wants. Well, to late now. We have to continue firing. Maybe he was telling the truth. Look, he has arrows in his back. Those arn't ours. Lightpaw, Carn, Swiftfoot, and Colon, go get him as quick as you like. We'll cover you. Wait, I'll come also in a matter of fact."
" Everyone!, cover Barrack and don't stop shooting! You ready?"
" Ready as we'll ever be. See ya."
" Fire now!"

Bloodfang lay on the floor. Had he known who was carrying him, Bloodfang would've of woke right up and started fighting. But he wasn't.
"We got him Singeclaw! We got him!"
Singeclaw was quite happy for himself. But he wasn't done. "Now you rats! Fire at the hares!"

" The rat's are firring back!" Someone screamed.
" Everyone, keep firiing! So no quarter of fear or mercy! We must defend them! Fire!"

Many rats fell from the arrows.
Singeclaw was discouarged. "If you rats can bring down Bloodfang, hares shouldn't be a problem!"

Many hares fell to the arrows up on the hill and they started thinking that the rescue crew would not be harmed untill-
" Uugh!"
" Lightpaw! Noooo!" Taking his bow out, Swiftfoot raced to his sister side shooting at the rats.
" Swiftpaw.... run.... I am done for."
" We have gone through everything together, we will go through death together also."
Then Lightpaw smiled," Give me my bow. I will die fighting, along side my big brother."
Then Swiftpaw was shot. " I guess, this is how it ends eh?"
" Yes... and we....will.....walk to........Dark Forest together.." Then he died, along side her brother. Each happy.
Then they made it top the top of the hill.
"Retreat!" And so they did, without their two scouts.

Singeclaw screeched, "Stop!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Arrows stopped, and the vermin had once again won;or so they thought.
Somewhere, Bloodfang was stirring. "Singeclaw... kill... must get back... mountain!"

Bloodfang murmed something, "It was better you retreated. If Singeclaw can take out me, he will have no problem dealing with you!"

Singeclaw was celebrating Bloodfang's defeat. "I can't belive we did it!" Some rat said.
Singeclaw felt a little doubt though. If Bloodfang came back, it would spell death for Singeclaw.

There was much sorrow in the camp of the Long Patrol. Carn, being their best friend, took it hardest. He was so depressed, that he did not ever cry. There was a far away look in his eyes, filled with sorrow and at the time thinking of his two best friends. They were the two least to have been killed. His whole life played through his mind over and over again. Since the day he was born, he knew Lightpaw and Swiftfoot and they were each best friends.
" Barrack," Summer said in a hoarse, weary whisper," you should end this soon. We all loved them, and our memories are enough to send us bawling."
" Yes my dear, I know." Then he ended it and no one but the moles, Carn, Barrack, Summer, and Benjamin attended the burial, for it was to sad to see.

Bloodfang lay rested on a tree. He tried to get up, but the arrow wounds wouldn't allow it. "I have to get back to Salamandastron!"
