I think both are important. I mean if the story was amazing but the art was that of a 1st grader then you're not really going to enjoy it and vice versa with the art.

Um I think that a good story is better than having good art. Like okane ga nai, I HATE the art most of the time but the story is just so delicious that I still love it.

When it comes to picking yaoi, it's beauty to the eyes first. Then it's beauty to the heart. I can't look at anything remotely ugly, unless it is supposed to be in a funny sense. However, if the story is meager and crappy, I avoid it at all costs. If the story is phenomenal then I can deal with so-so art but if the art is pretty but the story is so-so, I can deal with it too.

i'd say both. sometimes it really depends though. i can get really picky sometimes. if i don't like the style the artist drew, i won't read it. if i like the story but the art is okay, i guess it's acceptable. but sometimes there are times when you really don't care and start reading because of the good smut. lol whee

If the art is bad I can't read it but if the story is bad I almost want to burn it and dace around the flames. I hate bad writing. If the art is barely alright but the story is great I can still read it. But again, bad writing just makes me want to puke.

For me it all depends on who the mangaka is. I go to certain mangakas just for the pretty pics and others because I know they have really touching storylines that I'll quickly get addicted to.

~Story, definitely. I'd read yaoi about stickmen if the story was compelling enough. ^^ Art's definitely very important in whether I like something or not, but without a story I just can't care.

I HAVE to have both. I need a good story, and I need very good artwork. I'm very picky when it comes to that. I'll make some exceptions if the art is a little off or old but the story is wonderful. As long as the story makes up for it, then it's fine, but other than that, both are very important to me indeed. :3

[In yaoi (that is, PWP) art.] [In BL, story is way more important, but it's nice to have pretty art, too]

Both are very important... but story is more so.
Look at BL webcomics, for example 'Boy Meets Boy'. The art is rough, but the story is fun. Therefore it is a good comic. But sometimes there are suck-y stories where the art is good, but you have no idea what is going on. Why read?
The most amazing ones have good art as well as a good story... like Pandect.
(Sorry about the Webcomic talk, it's easier that way to compare b/c there are varying levels of talent)

I believe that yaoi has to be a balance between the two in order to be considered . . . well, delicious!
