Physical Description: Ga'loc is a giant in the weyr, he is 6'7 feet tall and mostly solid muscle with arms like tree trunks and legs to match.
His dark hair is streaked with premature grey which combines with his scruff of a beard in making him look older than he is.


Personality: What happens when a unstoppable force meets an immovable object? Ga'loc happens. He is solid, powerful and no one is going to make him do anything he doesn't already want to. He is also, slow steady and deliberate in everything he does. His habit of slow thoughtful action often making people believe he must be slow of thought as well. But that is not true Ga'loc just has to think everything though with all the due consideration it deserves before acting on it. Even when he does move physically fast it is done with such stout purpose and care as to look forever unhurried.

Because of his methodical approach when disasters do happen he can be slow to react which means things can get worse before he is able to implement any of his well thought out plans to correct things.

Because of his forward thinking habits he also has an under current of arrogance about him. No man or beast has the right to judge him, not even his most beloved Paramoth. They are not thinkers, they are rash and act with to much haste. He sees the need for fast action is the result of poor planning and he has no patience for it. He also rankles deeply when men younger than him try and tell him what to do. He is older and wiser than they are. He knows better. His dislike of people pushing authority and power on him is so deep it is almost visceral. So far it has never pushed him to violence but he does have a reputation for being difficult among wing leaders. Some have tried to punish him, most have discovered it is easier to let him go his own way most of the time as he still maintains his duty by taking part in wing drills and is a powerful and resilient fighter of thread. He also walks the very fine line between difficulty and out right insubordination very well.

Due to his nature he tends to have a calming effect on beasts alike. He is a very good listener and doesn't tend to speak without something important and considered to say.

Ga'loc is much more intelligent than most give him credit for,he is also a tactical thinker with no trouble playing the long game. When he was first told he was a viable candidate for a hatching all his mind became fixed on impressing a bronze. He was a beast crafter. And that very much formed his outlook on the weyr and society itself. Animals responded to confidence and power and that was embodied in a bronze. His goal was to become wing leader, maybe even weyrleader. He does not have a high option of the weyr's current ruling class and has formed alternatives to their edicts and rules many times.

The fact that he impressed a brown instead only slowed his path. It didn't stop it. At first he thought of flying a gold to gain a favorable position but now thread has returned, he is mainly just waiting for a wing leader or wing second post to open itself up. Meanwhile he tries to make himself seem like a figure of authority and understanding for younger riders and win supports to his side.

Figures already in positions of authority have a harder time with his stubborn methodical approach. He's not against hard work, far from it. But if he doesn't think an order worth his time, he will simply ignore it. He is not inherently violent or quick tempered but he will use his strength to resist any physical attacks.

Just because he doesn't like the way that HR's leaders runs things doesn't mean he automatically agree with Western. For example, he doesn't believe bronze riders are automatically the best choice to lead but he thinks it foolishness and sentimentality that lets any green rider be in charge of a wing, simply because greens can't fly a complete fall and a wing leader should always battle beside their wing. Yes, wing seconds can take over but it is not the same as having the leader present.

He also believes in having a gold rider as weyrwomen as golds are the only dragons with the power over their kin to bring them to heal. While also having the ability to awe and bring a whole weyr together when they fly and clutch.

He has dreams (however unrealistic) of one day founding his own weyr or at least seeking a weyr that represents a solid middle ground. Though for now he bides his time at HR while trying to get close to other riders who he senses are unhappy with the way things are run at HR.

History: Ga'loc was born at the beast crafter halls to two masters of the craft who were teachers within it's walls. As a result his parents had very little time for him and he was fostered to some of the craft hall workers at a young age. None the less the status of his parents earned him a certain amount of deference from the people around him, even at a young age. He enjoyed the respect and when he was small he already claimed leadership of his small band of friends.

As they grew Ga'loc lead them all into beast craft apprenticeship as was expected. He was an able student, the craft after all, was in his blood. When he became a journeyman he already had grand plans in play. With permission of his parents he took a small number of heardbeast from the halls and together with his friends took them and set out between hall, hold and weyrs looking for other established herds. At each stop he would buy or trade with the residents herds to build up his stock. His idea being that he would create a prime line of beasts by breeding the best together from all across pern. The constant movement, top quality feed and tender care also helped his cause and the meat from his butchered animals was rich and finely marbled.

One of the stops along his journey was high reaches weyr. Leaving his herd at a distance to protect them from hungry dragons he arrived at the weyr with his second in command to inspect the stock of the weyr's beasts and see if some deals could be made. However as he was was speaking to High reaches resident herds man a dragon landed beside them, it's eyes whirling and fixed on the young beastcrafter. Ga'loc had visited a number of weyr's by that time but he had always been fascinated by dragons, the mightiest of perns beasts. He gave it due respect. That was when it's rider slid of the dragons neck and told the man he was fit for impression and there was a clucth hardening on the sands, should he wished to stand.

Ga'loc was at the top end for impression age though and if he wished to stand the clucth was likely his only chance. Unable to resist the magical allure of bonding so closely with an intelligent beast. Ga'loc accepted. He told the rest of his group to wait in the nearby cot hold with his herd and he was sure he would be back with them

However at the hatching he impressed Paramoth and with some reluctance, turned his group and lifes work away to continue on their journey. Ga'loc was smitten with his brown of course, as are all dragon riders. The Love was deep and instinctual. But he did chafe hard against the ridged life that was now imposed on him. He had been used to handing out orders, not taking them and he often questioned the tasks given to him. He even considered rejoining his beastcrafter group but he knew Paramoth would spook the beasts and require to many of the small herd to feed him.

Reluctantly Ga'loc settled into weyr life. Some freedoms suited him and he has two small boys and a girl that were created during flights running around as werybrats. But they were made during moments of brief passion and the brown rider has no dedicated weyrmate.

Ga'loc had always paid lip service to the idea of threads return, but he never truly believed it until it happened. That, more than anything bonded him to the weyr, for as little as he liked some of their practices, they had been the only ones ready for it.
