Hajime watched as Selina rushed Obei, he had a feeling she was in good hands with the small Idol Gal. He sheathed both his blades after cleaning each with a cloth he had fished out of his pouch on his hip. He took a stance, trying to make himself seem, not necessarily macho, but bigger than life! A broad smirk across his face, only to chuckle at the two. "The both of ya' make a good pair. I think she can totally afford a replacement though, Obei-Chan." Haji' reassured the giant of a lady. His eyes locked onto Obei's, listening to her speak, to some it was just broken english. To him, her tone just made him happy, the way she pronounced names through each syllable. It made him happy. He couldn't pin it down to one thing or another. Maybe it was that innocence that pulled his gaze to the large lady. It didn't help that she was gorgeous. He'd totally zoned out, he probably looked like a dork, or even a creep. Hajime suddenly snapped back to reality as he was introduced to Selina. "It is a pleasure to meet you Selina." Both hands went to his hilts and he bowed deeply, before rising. "I have heard plenty about ya, all good things."
Though the sudden arrival of the Captain of the APD suddenly made him stand straight up and give him his utmost attention. "The Vigilante?" He asked, but his question was answered by Selina a moment later. When he was paired with Obei, he gave Selina a curt nod and a smile, cocking his head to Kenshin. "You have my blades Sir. I'll watch Obei's back and we'll knock the bastards dead!" Hajime was getting fired up. "Lets go!"

Right out of left field came Kenshin, who approached Selina as the other two sat it out with where they were at. They spoke for a short while while Obei did her normal oni thing and remained quiet while sometimes looking over to Selina and then back to the black haired male she was speaking with. It seemed he was on the hunt for a target as well. A person with a wing shaped visor on. The description didn't ring any bells in Obei's mind nor did it seem to do so in Hajime's. But thankfully Selina did have a person in mind. Said person was said to frequent the Monsoon Temple if what the reports said was true. Kenshin had been attacked by some of the corrupt officers which Obei questioned if they were the same ones which had accosted Hajime and her a while ago. But this would be a good chance to prove herself to the village. Helping find the person with the wing visor to make sure people knew she was nice.
"Obei help. Be on look out for wing visor." she finally piped up while nodding at Selina and Kenshin. When Selina mentioned Evergreen, Obei's eyes lit up. "Obei meet Evergreen. Kah-Gah-Me speak to her before. Serious. Very serious." On that note, Selina gave her the orders for her to follow. She pouted but knew better than to question an order from Selina, of all people. "Obei do. Be safe." Selina dipped and a short while after, Hajime looked his normal energetic self. Obei smirked a little and followed the two towards the Monsoon Temples.

The trio of do-good genin arrived at the mouth of the mines. Caution tape decorated the area, though it's bright color did nothing to improve the foreboding and sullen mood that settled across the scene like a heavy blanket. "I guess this is what the bulletin was talking about. It may not be the kind of action we were hoping for, from the bank. I wonder why the APD has not jumped on the case," she mused as she cupped her chin. Still, it would be good to have multiple sets of eyes on this, and she felt confident about her team even though they were strangers. She hadn't been let down by her colleagues before. "You should try to prepare yourself for anything we might see down there," she warned her teammates. She figured they all had equally minimal exposure to the cruelty of war, but it was important to garner whatever mental fortitude they were each capable of.

"Simple. Because this is a most delicate matter." an Oinin appeared from atop the mine. "The level of risk is unknown. Corpses appear, but they aren't our own. You understand the delicate political matter of such things. The APD are made to identify and report all deaths as public information." He leapt and landed. "Oinin and special operatives needn't do the same. Short end of it by taking this mission you fall under the same guidelines as us. That said however, should you die during this task, you also consent to having your names attached to a record of honorable service unrelated to the mission." he looked at the cave entrance. "My team entered three days ago. There has been no word from them." he looked back to the rag tag bunch. "I mean no offense. But I believed them to be individuals far more capable than what I'm seeing here."

tabThresher couldnโt help but scoff at the ninja that appeared before the group. This one, some nameless nobody, told them the group didnโt have a strong first impression. โYeh, right. Delicate.โ She growled with an annoyed roll of her eyes. The sharkgirl took a whiff of the air around them, in her own way of sizing up the situation. One thing was for certain: the smell of bodies inside the mine was putrid and pungent and reeked of blood. The metallic scent got Thresherโs own blood broiling. โYa smell that, pipsqueak?โ The ninja turned to her smaller companion with a wild grin on her face. "Thatโs the smell of of thโ hunt Thereโs blood in thโ water, and Iโm feelinโ ravenous.โ
โShove off,โ she grumbled to the Oinin as she took a step past him. She removed her hands from her pockets with a roll of her shoulders and a crack of her neck. โIf ya wanna handle somethinโ delicate-like, then go home and wash yer undies.โ
Thresher came to a stop just before the tape and faced it with a wide grin. She flexed her arm out and, with a focus of chakra and poof of smoke, a broadsowrd appeared in the air just inches from her palm. โLet some real ninja show ya how itโs done.โ With a powerful swing that seemed effortless from the girl, the blade cut through the tape like butter. The ninja turned to face her group with her sword balanced over her shoulder, a cocky smirk showing her sharper than average teeth. โYโall cominโ or what?โ
Following along with his new companions he would continue mostly just going along with whatever he deemed was best. He didn't know much else he could really do, and wasn't necessarily completely sure of them. The one that didn't look like a shark seemed fine but the other was pretty...reckless maybe? Perhaps she just didn't care. While he respected that kind of person he was still unsure of if it was a good idea to be around them. Like the girl whom he determined to basically be the leader of this small, new, and likely temporary group said he was going to be prepared for anything. The oinin that came down from the top of the mine and explained the situation seemed very unhappy that they were being sent in. Maybe just unhappy his team was missing.
Of course the shark seemed very...well she was pretty rude and reckless like he thought. However she was right about one thing. The smell of blood in the air wafting from the mine. It was calming almost for Charybdis, like a familiar smell to him. He was excited on the inside but composed on the outside. Even more composed than he was when he was unsure about all this a little bit ago. The young blue skinned male just seemed ready now. More ready than ever. The shark's quick moving and already moving into the mine basically. Charybdis heads along passing the oinin for a moment. Turning around however to face him and looking at him with a very serious expression.
"We will bring back your team if possible. Hopefully not dead..at least we will bring bodies back for a burial if so. Even if you have to keep secret cause of death or whatever." He said waiting for the other girl to go along. He wouldn't follow the reckless one, but he was sure they would just end up going along with her to make sure she was safe. He still would choose to more or less follow the other though in his head.
Miyuki frowned deeply at the ANBU's rough assessment of herself and her crew. She knew they were no special operatives, but the three of them could hold their own; otherwise, how could they bear the Arashigakure symbol? She didn't articulate her disagreement and instead watched as Thresher summoned a large sword and cut through the tape. It'd be interesting to watch the Hoshigaki fight with a blade.
"Well, we are here for the assist regardless. As Charybdis has said, we will try to return them here for some form of proper burial," she responded amiably, hoping to prove the ANBU wrong about his assessment. However, she had barely walked past him when she heard the briefest of rustling -
"It's a suicide mission for you three," the ANBU growled. Miyuki watched as the ANBU leaned back to punch her - brass knuckles gleaming sharply with chakra even as the fist ignited in flame [ Flame Sphere Technique [ Kyuuka no Jutsu ] | Rank S / Flying Swallow [ Hien ] | Rank S / self-korabo: S+ ].
Miyuki's hands came up in an instinctively placating gesture, palms open towards the ANBU; however, even as fuuton chakra began to push from her palms to move her away from the soldier, she realized she wouldn't be fast enough to avoid getting the brunt of the attack [ Assassinโs Rush [ Kyoushu no Tokkan ] | Rank B ].

tabIn the brief moments after Thresherโs display of completely unwarranted confidence, the reactions from the rather small audience seemed a little lackluster. Enough to make her ear to ear grin falter and her stance relax a little. โYโall could at least pretend to be impressedโฆโ She mumbled. Some solemn promises were made from her teammates to the Oinin that mightโve hit home for most people, but seemed to miss their mark when it came to Thresher. Why would they need to worry about body recovery? Let them rest where they died, as a reminder to others to not be so weak. The sentiment just made the sharkgirl exhausted when thought about, and the idea of arguing it with the other two against her made her even more tired.
โCmon now, giddyap!โ She hollered from her spot at the cave. The tension in the air and the scent of blood was starting to make the girl more and more impatient. She stood to watch her team mosey on after her and, as she did, Thresher caught a new whiff. The scent of bloodlust that wasnโt her own. It made Thresherโs attention snap to the Oinin that was belittling them before. While Miyuki had her back turned to the No Name Ninja, she wouldnโt be able to see them reeling back for a blow! Thresherโs reaction was instant, driven by her want to engage in combat! The Genin focused chakra into her feet and blasted forward from her spot, blowing right past Charybdis with a burst of movement created wind. In the blink of an eye Thresher stood between Miyuki and the ninja, her massive sword held horizontal in front of her. The manโs fist slammed right into the metallic blade, but if Thresher was affected by the blow then she hid it well. The very impact sent a small shockwave around the girl, shattering the ground a few feet in each direct of her! โIf ya wanted ta tussle,โ she said as small embers of flame licked her blade. The girlโs eyes were wide and dilated with adrenaline as she gave the ninja a bloodcurdling smirk. โThen all ya had ta do was ask!โ Thresher grunted and swiped her blade, a movement simply to go from defense to offense, but generated a shockwave of force just as strong as the force of the nanโs punch. Thresher took in a large breath, then. Not one to do things by half measures, the Hoshigaki let out a snarling roar, creating a sonic shockwave to challenge the Oinin and knock him off balance.
โฐ Quick Strike | Rank C | Complex (S+ After Bonuses) The user channels chakra into the soles of their feet as they blast off from the ground in a straight line. This allows the user to close a gap of twenty five feet within the same time it would take them to take a single step.
Second Action:
โฐ Shatter Stance | Rank C | Complex (S+ after bonuses) The user spreads their legs, taking a stance akin to the horse stance while flooding their lower half with chakra. While in this stance, they gain a [1] point endurance boost per rank of the technique and cannot be off-balanced by techniques of it's rank or lower.This technique is sustained for two ranks less than it's casted cost per post following it but the user is not allowed to move from their position. Each time a technique is defended against, a fissure wave is released from the user's positon towards the source of the attack that expands five feet per rank of the technique defended against.
Third Action:
โฐ Sonar Scream [ Sonฤ himei ] | Rank C The user lets out a guttural, high pitched or low pitched whine from their throat that booms forward in a 15 foot cone. Targets hit have their agility reduced by 2, and experience general disorientation making dodge actions require 1.5x the resource cost for two posts if performed on land and four posts if performed underwater.
They seemed mostly ready to continue, the group of them had not much else to do but accomplish their mission. Moving along forwards past Miyuki a little as she spoke affirming Charybdis' comment on returning his people. The man who briefed them had a sudden comment of it being a suicide mission. He was going to ignore it, keep going but the sound of the man's movement caused him to simply stop moving. It seemed their reckless friend reacted to it quickly. In fact he was sure everyone would react fairly quickly to this except for him. He wasn't particularly above average or even really average in that department normally. However he would indeed react to it.
His body itself seemed to not move. Their reckless friend was already on the case when it came to defending their ally. From his back however, 4 tentacles would quickly expand and extend all the way over to where all the action was occurring. Curving around Thresher and Miyuki and pointed directly at the ops member who decided to attack their ally for some reason. Regardless of his position after Thresher's attacks on him. (Unless he manages to get farther than 10 yards away from them all.)
Charybdis would speak without moving still simply pointing his newly spawned tentacle appendages from multiple directions at Miyuki's attacker. "I don't know if or think I'm particularly stronger than you or anyone else here. However these are my allies right now. I don't care who you are if you attack them again I'll kill you." He didn't seem like he was exaggerating, nor like he was trying to seem scary. He almost seemed completely calm and like he was having a normal conversation. "Besides...this is three on one...and you're just delaying our job." He added with a sigh.

However, these extra limbs were intentionally made imperfect as they were easier and less excruciating to produce. They bear even more of a resemblance to their pacted brethren in the sense that limbs produced this way do not have digits and are instead nubs not unlike tentacles. โข This Technique can be trained up only to the user's maximum body rank. It can then be retrained at each body rank increase the number of limbs. โข Each Rank of [ Many Arms of the Squid ] confers an extra appendage that may extend from one's back, sides, or neck. The appendage is retractable capable of hiding within the body and may extend up to 10 yards away from the body. This appendage however, cannot form hand signs. โข If an appendage is lost, the only way to recover it is with the Hojo technique [ Arms of the Squid ] which makes them just as precious as one's current limbs. โข The appendages, for the most part, can be considered tentacles, these appendages feel pain as any other appendage, these appendages have a unique benefit of being treated as [ Whips ] for whip oriented Bukijutsu. โข These appendages are severely disadvantaged using taijutsu that requires, hands, fists, or great feats of physical strength resulting in [-2 Rank Detriment] to the technique it's used in conjunction with. โข Using these appendages with Taijutsu that grapple confers a [+1 Rank Bonus] to the grapple and sustaining the grapple. โข These appendages can be used in conjunction with Hojo clan [ Sticky Fingers ] -- B-Rank (4 Limbs)

Miyuki was impressed by the quick action of her teammates. Thresher saved her skin and Charybdis was also completely ready to take on the ANBU. She was chilled by Charybdis' unfeeling words, though she didn't waste time on the thought as her heart raced. However, the ANBU managed to block Thresher's moves and flash a few feet away, looking at the trio in silence. "Alright, alright. Don't get your panties in a twist," he said in a way that riled up Miyuki. "You can go on in. I just had to make sure it wouldn't be a complete suicide mission. I'll be on body acquisition when you don't come out." He shrugged apathetically, making a hand seal and disappearing before their eyes.
Miyuki shivered. "I- I think we will be fine. Anyways. Thank you two for the help; I did not expect that. But, uh, I guess we should, um, continue." She was a little shaken up from the unexpected near death experience, but she was a little comforted by her team. She stuck close to Thesher as she made her way into the cave, unsure what else to say as she paled in the face.
However, they did not travel in the mines before they came across littered bodies. They were obviously dead, with their backs torn open like... like something had crawled out of them, or ripped into them and smashed much of their insides. "Gods above, who could have done something like this," she murmured as she brought a hand up to her mouth to avoid vomiting. It smelled horrific.

tabโWha-?โ Thresherโs face was one of surprise now, as if someone had just pulled the rug out from under her feet. Her battle readiness came to a similarly abrupt halt, only confusing the Genin further. The sharkโs sword arm fell loosely as the ANBU deflected her soundwave easily, but only to stand there and talk before disappearing. โYer serious?!โ She yelled out, her bewilderment being replaced by petulant anger. โCome back โere anโ fight, ya limp dicked, inbred, piece aโ garbage!โ Thresher yelled out into the empty air, stomping her foot. By the time her teammates moved on was when the girl finally took a calming breath. With a sigh and an effort of will, her sword disappeared into a puff of smoke.
She followed up with Miyuki, who stood rather close to her, she noticed, with a dejected expression. Clearly she was disappointed about not being able to have her fight. However, even her brooding wasnโt enough to ignore the smell of the bodies theyโd found. The stench hit Thresherโs sensitive nose like a physical wall, stopping her in her tracks. The shark wretched and covered her face with her hand, doubling over as she felt her lunch start to come up. โJust what tha hell is all that?โ She asked through gasping breaths.
Charybdis would sigh, his tentacles quickly snapping back to him from their position after everything had been dealt with. A test huh? Body Acquisition? Charybdis continued forwards alongside his allies. "Don't know how he's gonna get any bodies if we die if he couldn't even get his own team's." Charbydis remarked, intending to insult the man who attacked Miyuki. Not caring whether the man that had disappeared heard him or not.
As they proceeded the smell progressively got worse and worse until they found their way to ripped open bodies...some of them almost cocoon like it seemed? It was odd, the smell was horrible...it wasn't that of blood no not at all it was pretty much pure rot and disgust. Charybdis however kept his composure, he was a cool fellow and was preparing for this as they proceeded regardless. "Maybe some kind of bug...this is what things like spiders do to their prey isn't it? Cocoon them then eat their insides right? Or maybe some other creature that like...I guess was probably born inside some of these bodies and then ate it's way out." It wasn't like he knew what it was...he could only assume. He himself only knew bugs to be like that...but whatever did this...he hoped it wasn't too big....he didn't really want to deal much with some giant bug.

Miyuki shook as she covered her mouth to stop from vomiting. She listened to each of them, somewhat pleased that Charybdis was less affected than her and Thresher, that at least one of them was going to keep a completely level head. However, his words were chilling on their own. "Crawled out... yes, that is what it looks like. These are not even the ANBU squad," she realized slowly.
"We need to keep moving." Miyuki tried to manage her breathing as she walked further into the cave, bodies growing blessedly sparse. And then she heard odd sounds. Something almost mechanical in nature. She saw it. The human body - with a tattoo on the shoulder that she could only imagine it was an ANBU thing - floating in the tube. And all of a sudden, electricity was firing into the tube and the body inside twitched, convulsed, and it was suddenly a creature. A yokai. "What the hell is this?" She freaked out in a hushed voice to her teammates. "What do we do? Do we turn back?"
