Mairi took a soft breath. He wasn't that close to my mother, his godmother, she said shyly, not mentioning that she suspected that there was a very personal reason for that.

Mairi blushed deeply as she exhaled softly before dropping the towel and trying on the underclothes. They're very comfortable and simple, just the way I usually prefer, she said shyly.

Mairi cocked her head. Are there tests to see where I'd be compared to others? My parents... weren't very good as teachers, she said shyly. She jumped slightly as her hearing picked a trilling, unaware it was Pyhrra's cell phone as the hospital was calling.

"We found some troubling things in Lucas' X-rays, though my gut tells me you don't know about this. There's evidence of physical abuse, as in badly healed broken bones and some rather troubling scars on his back. He has awoken, but doesn't seem to want to tell us what caused them, the doctor said as Mairi exhaled softly, looking away. That wasn't why she'd asked. She was able to just hear the doctor's words as the color drained from her face. I should have... she said softly through gritted teeth.

That would be best, I believe. As for how I guessed that, the young woman you were with seemed very unsure of herself, as if she does not know you very well, Miss Ryder. Also, Lucas doesn't seem to know you as well as, say, a parent, the doctor said as Mairi grimaced slightly. They can't anymore, she said softly through gritted teeth.

He has stated that he has never been to a hospital before and rarely to a doctor of any kind. If he has been abused as I suspect, the fact that he would trust someone he barely knows to take him somewhere he'd never been is a ridiculously high amount of trust. He said that he was going in and out of consciousness the entire time, so that would mean either he did some stupid stunt that did not succeed and caused his injuries, or he is an extremely good judge of character and you are as kind as he claims, the doctor said as Mairi had her eyes squeezed shut, clearly distressed. They can't anymore, she said softly through gritted teeth. She didn't notice the blood trickling from between her fingers from how tightly she had them clenched.
