17 is sufficient to be able to identify a "home remedy" antitoxin solution. Not enough to nullify it completely, but enough to fizzle it enough where he won't die.
If someone were to try the door to the kitchen, you would find it still locked - hence the people trying to get through before, and failing, and then nearly trampling you.
Mikah, with that 17, you can identify another possibility: Peya root. If you inform your collegues in character, everyone can try a DC 20 Nature check to identify something that uses it as an ingredient.
Any alcoholics presents, you get to add +10 to your roll to identify the very beverege on tap that will make a suitable proxy.
@ Aelgeirr: Honestly, that behavior is completely unlike vermin of that type, unless it was provoked into doing so - but you can't think of anything that was here or had happened to do that. Though feel free to give me a free follow-up Insight check of DC 10.
@ Ambra: The half-orc woman, would put a hand on Ambra's shoulder, and simply shakes her head. You might have had time to save her if an ally had helped with a cooperative roll, but that time seems to have passed, and the barmaid is in her final moments, too far gone. The half-orc woman bows her head and begins to pray what sounds like a much-recited prayer. The boy Mikah is trying to tend looks like he won't be very far behind the barmaid.

Hoo....Aelgeirr caught scent of the emotions of the aftermath of a battle. He tried to be useful as he meditated on the oddness of the centipedes.,,,and found he was just scurrying around the place, looking for where he thought an herb might be. This was going to be a LONG evening.

Mikah, the faithful seeker.
Of course!.- The girl exclaimed in sudden realization.- Can anybody find me "Peya root"? We need that as soon as possible to save this kid!.

Now that it's said allowed, drinkers in the party get a +10, since they may be familiar with a beverage that uses that ingredient.
For the new players: Taking 10/20 only works when there's no time pressure. Taking 10 is easier, basically assuming an average result, making a routine task easier to accomplish because there's no stress. Taking 20 is effectively taking as long as possible to make sure you do it to the best of your ability. Assume it means you roll a 1, then a 2, then a 3, then a 4, all the way until you get to 20. As such, you can't do it with risky things, like, mountain climbing, but you can for, say, research.
But no, there's a time crunch now. Straight-up roll, please! 2 down, 2 to go!

Ambra Goldstar Mage in Training Tears begin to well up in Ambra's crystal blue eyes. "No... it can't be too late! I refuse to believe it! We're going to save her! " Ambra's words begin to be interrupted by sobs. "She brought me the wrong drink, you see... she needs to know. You can't... you can't die now... you have to... you have to... fix it. Please, don't... please don't die... keep fighting... I'll--I'll save you for sure!"Clutching the dying woman, Ambra finally breaks down completely into sobs and cries uncontrollably. How foolish she had been. She thought it would be fun to try and use her magic to help and entertain people for a summer, and do some adventure work on the side. Never did she think it would come to this. Never did she think she would see a man torn to bits in front of her very eyes or hold a person as they lay dying in her arms. The weight she now felt in her heart... she was not sure how to bear it. As Ambra sat there, lost in her emotions, she heard Mika's voice enter her mind, calling for something containing Peya Root. Even with her internal turmoil, her inquisitive mind couldn't help but think about what that might be. It sounded familiar, yet, in her current emotional state she was having a hard time focusing. ((either 14 or 24 nature check depending on how you want to rule Ambra's alochol experience.))

((Sorry for the delayed response. Food poisoning, I think! Blech!))
Ambra, Mikah, you both can think of something - Ambra, you recall it first, and Mikah can confirm, that "Dryad's Daught" contains peya root - a rather high concentration of it, in fact, which is why it tastes so bitter, yet for some reason, druids and wood elves can't seem to get enough of the stuff. You can find find it on tap behind the counter with little effort.

Ambra Goldstar Mage in Training As Ambra sits their drowning in her emotions the answer to Mikah's question floats to the surface of her mind. She whispers it at first and then shouts it for everyone to her. "Dryad's Draught...Dryad's Draught! Peya Root is in Dryad's Draught! It is one of the main ingredients!" Ambra gently stands up from the barmaid's body and runs over to the bar. She quickly locates the tap and feels a mug with it. Sobbing and with tears still streaming down her face she rushes with the mug over to Mikah and the dieing teenager. "Here! You might...you might be able to treat the poison with this!"

Dwalin Vikramsson Captain of The Guard
Dwalin got up from the chair that Aelgeirr had pushed him down into too and made his way back to the table the group had originally sat at, whether they liked it or not he was tired from his trip here and more so from the fight they had just been in so all he wanted to do was have his drink at last. He grabbed the mug and proceeded to take rather large sips, after all there wasn't much he could do in this situation as he wasn't trained in medical situations or what ingredients were in these drinks, atleast not the ones that his home town didn't produce themselves and none of them contained this peya root the girls required.

Dryad's Draught was a drink an elf maid he was interested in foisted upon him once. It took all of Aelgeirr's will to avoid vomiting the stuff back up....and even more to avoid telling the girl what he really thought of the bitter drink. No matter. He spotted it behind the bar and poured a bunch of the foul tasting concoction into a cup. "Here." Aelgeirr growled as he strode over to the half elf. "Give her this. It has the herbs you mentioned."

Mikah, the faithful seeker.
Ambra's voice was the first which Mikah heard, turning to around to find her turned into a soup of tears. She immediately knew what was going on with her and felt a stab to her heart. She would never forget the first time someone died in her arms.
The girl received the mug and smiled sweetly at her.- He'll be fine. I promise!.- Mikah, then, turned back to the kid, slowly giving him the drink bit by bit, Hopefully that'll be enough to counter the poison and keep him well until a real anti-venom could be administrated to him.
((do I need a roll for this? I doubt i would just spill the alcohol all over the place))

(hahaha, no, no roll needed, as utterly hilarious that would be if you did and botched. You never need to roll to do mundane things.)
You pour some of the drink little by little into the boy's mouth, and it's uncertain if it does anything for him at all at first. But as you wait, the point you expected him to pass... er, passes, and he yet lives. Slowly, his condition seems to stabilize, confident that he needs now naught but rest. While antivenom would help expedite his recovery, he'll survive without it.
Which ultimately brings me to a question which none of you have yet addressed: What do you do next?

"My thoughts are is that these vermin aren't going to be the last we'll face tonight. Do you know where the other townsfolk are going to hole up.....or can we fortify this tavern strong enough to ride this out?"
Not caring that he was holding a cup of Dryad's Draught, Aelgeirr drank it because it felt cold and it felt cold and refreshing for all of a second before the bitter taste hit. The Eladrin didn't bother hiding his reaction to the flavor this time.

Dwalin Vikramsson Captain of The Guard "I also doubt these will be the only ones we'll have to fight tonight but we can't let the fighting happen in the town around more people, we'll need to find out where this one came from and see if we can't prevent another one coming here." Dwalin looked at Ambra from where he was standing it was clearly she had never seen this before, he placed the mug back down on the table and walked over to her "It's never easy to watch somebody die, it never gets any easier no matter how many times you see it. The best thing you can do for them is to see they get the proper respects when you're able too but right now Ambra we need to find where these creatures came from and put a stop to another attack."

Ambra Goldstar Mage in Training Ambra looks up at Dwalin from where she knelt next to the boy and wipes her eyes. "Y-you're, you're right..." Ambra began to try and stifle her crying but she could tell it would take a bit for her to completely calm down. She managed to choke out the question. " S-so what should we do next? Where should we go?"

Mikah, the faithful seeker.
Mikah caressed the boy's forehead and sighed.- He will be fine!.- Her words weren't as triumphant as she would had liked them to be. She turned to the barmaid who until not long ago, was serving them drinks. She tried looking for a pulse on her, hopefully there was still time to save her.
When she heard about what to do next she started thinking about what could be the cause of the attack.why would a monster from the forest ( an underground monster) leave it's habitat only to attack? - We must figure out why did the centipede attacked. If there is an unnatural cause to this then most likely there will be more attacks to the village!.
((should I make a roll to figure out reasons of the centipede? ))
