Rosaline Rosaline grimaced as Phenix crossed the stream. She quietly followed him. Taking off her shoes, she spoke. "Okay, I'll lead the way back, since you're pretty much powerless at the moment, aside from that nasty thing you've got there." Rosaline smiled as she gertured to Phenix's scythe. Walking back took very little time. Covering their tracks was a little more difficult, but eventually they managed to use wet soil and plants to make their footprints nonexistant. Upon returning to their camp, Rosaline found everything the same. Nuage would be out for at least another hour, as she gave him a pretty heavy dose of opium. "Now that we're safer, what do we do?" Rosaline was relying on Phenix to lead the way.

Ardeur Esprit || "Phénix Coeur"Ardeur almost laughed, since she said "safer" instead of "safe." It was only too true. But, he simply shrugged. "We should stay hidden. We have a source of water, but we'll need food. I don't know how long it will take for the Gamemakers to cook something up, force us to move on, but until then, you should rest. You've done plenty to build this place, I'm sure you're tired." He studied Rosaline's face, pale and fragile as always. "I'll keep watch, don't worry. As you said, I have this," he indicated his scythe with a slight movement of his hand, "and I'll wake you if there's trouble." Ardeur smiled sadly. It was likely there would be trouble, sooner rather than later. They needed to conserve all the energy they could, if they wanted to survive in the arena. Who knew when she would have a chance to rest again?

Rosaline Rosaline kept her expression neutral. Could she trust Phenix? She would have to, she needed rest. Rosaline made a mental note to keep her hand on her dagger while she slept, just in case. "Thank you," Rosaline smiled as she was swallowed by one of the honeysuckle bush, its sweet aroma embracing her. Sleep came quickly, and Rosaline's dreams were filled with the sent of flowers and the forest.Hidden behind the pleasnt forest was a shadow, reality. Rosaline knew the games would be waiting for her when she woke up, and she would wake up, she knew she would.

Ardeur Esprit || "Phénix Coeur"Ardeur watched Rosaline retreat into the sweet flowers, their scent mingling with her own, then turned back to the dark forest. He tucked his shoes out of sight and leapt over the softest sand, brusing aside the few tracks he made, then stopped with his back to a pine tree. The branches partially concealed him, though the deep red of his hair stood out obviously. He silently cursed it, then returned to his task. For two long hours, his eyes raked the forest, but nothing abnormal greeted them. There was nothing but the sound of water and the swaying of the pine trees. No small animals came near, but considering this was the Games, it did not seem odd to him. When another half-hour had nearly passed, Ardeur heard the sound of soft footsteps in the stream. He braced himself, remaining hidden, but with his grip tightening on his scythe. He waited, and saw the water moving where it was disturbed by feet, but saw no one. Then he knew. It was Cendre, of course. He heard a gentle click and a small metal object appeared on the rocks near their fort. Then Cendre retreated downstream, since her wet feet would leave obvious marks. However, he knew she wouldn't go too far; she had found them, and intended to stay with them, even if she would stab them all in the back in the end. She was trustworthy for now, but when it came down to it, he felt Cendre wanted to win, and any loyalty to him would not get in her way. When the sound had faded, he crept out of the branches, brushing pine needles off his arm, and picked up the object. He did not recognize it, but when he clicked it, a small flame sprang up. Elated, he let the flame die and moved to wake Rosaline, wanting to share his discovery. He poked his head between the branches, trying not to make too much noise or hurt the delicate structure, and saw her sleeping peacefully, her face no longer creased with the worry and fear of the Games. He couldn't wake her for something that meant so little to her. With one hand, he gently smoothed her hair into place, then retreated into the open. He was walking back to his pine tree when he heard the sound of heavy, running footsteps crashing through the undergrowth. 'So, the hunt begins.'

Rosaline Rosaline woke from her sleep to the sound of two sets of footsteps. Someone was being chased. Panic was the first thing that overtook her body. She made the branches around Nuage, who must have been comforted by her warmth, solidify and form a protective shield around him. After this was done she turned to the world outside the fragrant, peaceful bush. Through it she could a tribute from district nine chasing down some poor girl, who looked like she was from district eight. The predator was moving so quickly she couldn't tell which gender it was.(take it away smile I didn't feel like leading into the attack, just remember any of our prior agreements. You get male from 9, I get female)

Ardeur Esprit || "Phénix Coeur"As hunter and prey burst from the trees into the open ground by the stream, Ardeur saw a long tangle of blonde hair in front, followed by short, dark hair behind. The girl in front stumbled over a stone by the stream and fell into the water. She tried to scramble away from her attacker, still clinging to the remnants of a broken javelin, but the hunter, the girl from District 9, was already upon her. A long knife flashed downwards in a deadly arc, burying itself deep in the girl's back. She screamed, then lay still as her blood flowed rapidly downstream. Ardeur was surprised the District 9 girl and her brother had split up, but they probably wanted to take full advantage of the chaos of the Cornucopia. Withdrawing the knife, the dark-haired girl turned to her left, and saw Ardeur standing there, watching her. At first, her eyes flashed slightly with surprise; then the expression rapidly progressed into a smile of contempt and delirious bloodlust. Hands still slippery with the blood of her victim, who remained facedown on the soft earth, eyes wide and unseeing, the girl began to take slow, measured steps towards her new target, eyes slightly narrowed, the grin not leaving her lips. Ardeur held the lighter in his left hand and his scythe in his right. The wound on his left arm would slow him down some in battle, he knew, but it was too late to do anything about that now. He had forgotten about it with the adrenaline rush after the Cornucopia. The fire would be dangerous to use here, though; the smoke would send a clear signal to other tributes, and he risked setting the trees alight. Thus, he did not click the lighter, fearing temptation, and instead pocketed the device, taking his scythe in both hands and readying himself for hand-to-hand combat. He couldn't let the girl get a single hit through his defenses, he knew, or he would be dead. Cendre VolWhen the predator and her prey had entered the area, Cendre had frozen in place, not wanting the splashes of her footsteps to give her away. Twisting her body around to look back upstream, she saw the girl from District 2 slain, and saw the blood rushing down to her. Quickly, she stepped from its path; it would flow around her legs, betraying her. The pair of wet footprints that had appeared on the bank were easier to hide; the killer was in a frenzy, not focusing on the landscape, only on the task at hand. As she turned away to attack Ardeur, Cendre breathed a sigh of relief, though she did not move to aide him. If she was revealed and the girl got away, her strategy would be useless.

Rosaline Rosaline's eyes widened as she saw the girl from District Nine. Watching her kill the poor blond girl created a cold fury flowing through Rosaline's blood. If anything, death should be delivered gently, a poison that leads to an eternal sleep, a gentle vine around the neck. A knife through the back was cruel. Eyes dark with fury, Rosaline stepped out of the bush she was hiding in, quietly. Still, her presence was clear. Phenix was the only thing between her and the bloody b***h. She drew her two knives and took a defensive stance. She would only step in if Phenix couldn't handle the girl, or if she saw her as the weaker link and attacked her.

Sinistre Meutre Sinistre continued to walk towards the boy from District 12, blood roaring in her eyes with the frenzy of a kill. Still, she could control and focus the adrenaline that coursed through her veins, using it to make her faster and stronger, to heighten her senses, to shorten her reactoin time; she was even more deadly than normal, now that she was in the arena. She was unrestricted, unrestrained; she could kill everyone and the Capitol would just applaud her. She was getting rewarded for having fun, for doing what she loved best. It was quite like a dream...or a nightmare, to anyone near her. When the girl from District 11 stepped out of the bush, Sinistre's eyes flickered to her, and recognized the power over nature that the girl had. She had seen her growing all manner of plants in training; who knew what she could do to her with them. Still, the boy would be a problem as soon as she got within several feet of him, with the long reach of the scythe. But he was wounded; she could see and smell the dried blood around the wound on his arm. Keeping her pace steady, she let her heart beat faster, forcing oxygen to each muscle in her body, as she prepared for her attack. When she was still two feet outside the range of the scythe, she shot forwards like an arrow from the string. The boy tried to bring his scythe around as she dodged to the left, towards the girl, but his wound hampered him and the stroke swooped over her head as she ducked. The boy was nocked slightly off balance and his arm went up, carried by the weight of the scythe, exposing the soft flesh of his torso. He turned with it, using the weight of the weapon to try for a second hit, but it was too late, she knew. Sinistre sighed; it was too easy, beating these kids. They were so weak. Though she had been racing towards Rosaline, she now pressed down hard with her left foot and sprang to her right, her blade extended, reaching for the boy's side. The girl would be easy to take out once the boy was wounded; hopefully, the shock of being sprayed in the face with his blood would stop her for a moment, giving the girl from District 9 time enough to slit her throat. It was all planned out in her head in that second she traveled through the air, her stained blade about to be coated freshly with blood.

Rosaline Rosaline's eyes grew wide as she witnessed their enemy's speed. She was fast. Phenix swung twice but the girl dodged it. Anger rushed through her veins even more powerfully than before. Rosaline grunted as she threw one knife at the girls extended arm, throwing her second at the girl's torso. Taking into account the girl's path of motion, the knives would hit, but they could be dodged easily if noticed. Rosaline willed the honey suckly bush to grow out, forming sharp thorny branches. The oder of honeysuckle filled the air, a now sickeningly sweet aroma. She willed two branches of the bush to lash out between the bloody assassin and Phenix, hopefully giving him saftey.

Ardeur Esprit || "Phénix Coeur"As his second strike missed the girl from District 9 by inches, Ardeur cursed loudly. He feared he would be struck by her knife, but he let the momentum of the scythe carry him backwards, away from the deadly point, just as Rosaline's branches grew between him and their attacker. The girl crashed into the bush, its thorns snagging on her clothing. Ardeur got control over the scythe once more and grounded the heavy blade, regaining his balance and resting his arm for a short moment. His breaths were slightly shorter than usual, as his left arm pained him a bit, though not so much that he would become a burden. The wound had not begun to bleed freshly, but it was still painful, and he made a mental note to ask Rosaline to grow some sort of plant he could use to wrap the wound. He didn't need it slowing him down again.Sinistre Meutre When the branches of the horrible plant caught her, Sinistre jerked her arm and blade, slashing her way free as quickly as she could. Tiny cuts from the biting thorns stung on her arms and face, and crimson dashes now decorated the dark arena uniform she wore. Then she caught sight of a whirl of silver, and a knife collided with her arm. She sprang backwards and its twin whizzed by. She drew the first one from her arm, ignoring the pain and stopping the wound from bleeding using her powers. Tossing the second knife behind her, into the river, she switched her blade to her left hand and was ready to attack once more. Anger at being thwarted in her first attack drove her to a fury, and she turned on the girl who was the origin of the attack. One hit was all she needed, and she would have it. She would not be defeated again. Lip drawn up in a sneer, she launched a cut at Rosaline, a quick backhand stroke from the other girl's right. If it connected, it would slice right across the side of her neck, and then it would be seconds to death.

Rosaline Rosaline smiled when her first knift hit the girl. She had expected her attack, and stepped towards her, everything seemed to move in slow motion now. Rosaline hit the inside of the girls attacking arm, then quickly reopened the wound on the right with a chop, slipping foxgolve into the wound. Once this was done she sprang towards Phenix, hoping that he would thart any further attacks. The foxgolve only had a small chance of working, as the girl could clearly control blood. Rosaline made a mental note of this, as she wouldn't want even a small wound around this one. The forest around them had grown tense, not even the birds were singing anymore. "We need to get out of here, we can't beat her." The words hissed through Rosaline's teeth for the ears of Phenix only.

Sinistre Meutre When she was hit for a second time, Sinistre used her powers once more to prevent any serious damage or bloodloss. When the girl pressed some sort of plant into the wound, she did not know what it was, but she knew it would probably be for the best if she removed it. With an animalistic snarl, she let the wound spray blood into the air, creating a heavy mist that hid her from the pair of tributes. Turning on her heel, she sprinted back into the forest to find her brother, already shutting off bloodflow to the area just around her wound, trying to remove the plant from her bloodstream as quickly as possible. The prey had escaped, but the hunter was not beaten yet. Ardeur Esprit || "Phénix Coeur"Ardeur was about to reply to Rosaline's whispered warning when their attacker disappeared in a mist of blood. He blinked, frowning slightly, then looked at Rosaline, knowing she must have done something that scared the girl enough to make her flee and recover. His face melted into a short-lived grin. "Thanks," he breathed, now leaning on his scythe, which was still planted in the earth. The forest was still deathly quiet, the river continued to run red, and the earth was churned with the marks of a battle, stained lightly with blood. "We're still not safe here anymore, she knows where this camp is. We'll have to move on, find somewhere else to spend the night. The river will be foul downstream of that," he jerked his thumb at the dead girl in the water, "so we'll have to go upstream, if we stay near the water." He sighed; he hated to waste Rosaline's handiword in making their foretress. Still, it was too risky to linger. They would end up dead if they stayed here.

Rosaline Rosaline signed as the girl from 9 fled. She would surly follow them. Looking down at the crimson tide Rosaline's heart ached for the girl who had died. Honeysuckle flowers enveloped the girl, hiding her body from the world in a haven away from the games. "Why should we go upstream? That's exactly where she'll be looking for us. I saw we follow the water downstream, it has to lead somewhere. We can walk in the forest, conceling our tracks as we go." Rosaline walked over to Nuage's hiding place and willed it to open, revealing the boy who was just starting to wake up. Nuage's eyes fluttered open as the drug induced sleep wore off. "Where am I?" The words came out of his mouth slurred, the effects of the opium had not worn off yet. "You're safe," Rosaline bent over and kissed his forehead, placing a honeysuckle flower on his chest. The sweet odor would hopefully keep him calm as she picked him up. "Lets get moving," Rosaline didn't want Phenix to be able to reject her idea of going downstream.

Ardeur Esprit || "Phénix Coeur"Ardeur raised one eyebrow at Rosaline's words, but she was probably right. The other tributes would expect them to stay near the definitely fresh water, and avoid the risk of illness. Still, it was likely that they would end up sick if they drank the water that was running with the dead girl's blood. He sighed. There was no way to win in the arena. "Fine," he finally said, "but it's on your head if that water makes us ill." He saw that Rosaline was carrying Nuage yet again, and frowned slightly. "Give him here. You're going to need your strength. I'll take for now." Ardeur shifted his scythe to his left hand and held out his right. He could drape the small boy's legs across his left arm while keeping his scythe in his hand and support most of his weight with his right. The poor boy was terribly small; he had no real chance of making it through the Games. The whole thing was so unfair, so cruel. Children aren't murderers. Or, at least, most aren't... There was always the threat of the careers, and District 9, somewhere off to the west.

Rosaline "Here, be gentle with him," Rosaline murmured softly. She set Nuage in Phenix's arms and turned again to the south east. The water ahead was stained and would indeed make them ill if they didn't clean it first."I have the materials we need to clean the water, we shouldn't get sick. Lets just keep heading this way until we reach the edge of the forest. The Careers will most likely be looking for us by sundown." It was nearly noon, time was running out fast. "We need food as well, I didn't see any animals. I did see a few berries that are eatable." Rosaline paused for a moment. "You should lead the way, I can protect us in the forest, once we get out of it I won't be of much use." Rosaline gave a grim smile as she willed branches and flowers from the surrounding forest to weave their way into her hair, hiding in her long black braid. These plants would serve as a weapon in the instance of attack. Rosaline made sure to include plenty of fox glove in her art, it seemed to freak the girl from district 9 out. Quickly she picked up her knives, and cleaned them off. "I'm ready when you are," Rosaline gestured downstream yet again.
