Lyssan nods and carries him to the pillow nest. "Kero is feeling poorly, Kya. So I'm going to sing him a lullaby. We're not chasing you away, if you want to stay with him that is fine, but he needs to sleep for a bit, alright?"
She places him down in the nest and shifts bax into her fox form, curling up around him. "Shhh... I know... it hurts. But sometimes a little sleep goes a long way to making things feel a little better. Close your eyes now..." and she behgins to sing to him, a simple lullaby, one he instantly recognizes instinctively as a song Tam used to sing when things went wrong. And even though he can't recall why he knows the piece, being too young to remember the angel clearly just yet, he relaxes and drifts off, still sniffling and feeling miserable for himself.
Enia motions for Kyara to leave them alone and ushers both the tiny fairy dragon and Amestru out of the room. "Flowers? Did I hear him correctly?" she asks the kami as she closes the door.
Amestru sighs. "Apparantly he still has his affinity for fire... but to him right now it's more of an attrraction than a ability to work with it... and he thinks the flames are flowers."

Even in his sleep, Kero snuggles up to his Mommy, sniffling and still in pain. It haunts his dreams with pretty red flowers that suddenly grow big big teeth and try to eat him whole.

"You do realize this just might be a first... a fire mage who's afraid of fire." laughs Lyssan mentally as she nuzzled the small dragon in his sleep, attempting to lure him away from his pain filled dreams.
"Not exactly something any good mage would want... we'll need to wean him away from that fear." returns Amestru from his seat in a nearby alcove where he is reading a story to Kyara.
"As much as I hate to agree with you, you're probably right. Do you remember the name of his salamander friend? The one he was always tucking away into his cloak."
"No, but Tam should... wonder where he's at?" replies the kami thoughtfully.

Slowly, Kero calms down and relaxes, his dreams becoming more pleasant. He snuggles close to his Mommy, purring in his sleep. He is happy again. He can smell Mommy. Mommy will make everything better. You don't get to be Mom if you can't fix everything just right.

Lyssan lets him cuddle, knowing that most of the burns would fade soon and that by the time he awakens will only be a memory. Kero was more frightened than he was hurt. Ame's ice pack had seen to that. Dragon skin, even baby dragon skin was fairly fire proof, too thick to do any serious damage to unless the fire was far larger than those tiny matches had been able to provide. By cooling the skin down, he had instigated it's healing almost immediately. But he did have a blister or two that would remain for a few days at least. Reminders that the "red flowers", as he called them, were extremely dangerous. Had he not started the original fire that got out of control, she would be worried still about him repeating the act. But he had seen how quickly the red flowers become a red storm. Now the only thing she was worried about was how to teach him not to fear fire.

Slowly, Kero begins to snore, and a stench Lyssan is very familiar with rises from where he is sleeping.

Lyssan quickly morphs back into kitsune form and calls for Enia to bring a fresh pillow. Pickinhg him gently up, they quickly switch the dirty one for a clean one and place him back down.
"Just have that thing burned. And stock up on moisture proof pads while you are at it. Kya is so darn small, she's easy to clean up after; but Kero is another story. I think you will find a stack of them in the store room. Where are your cleaning cloths?" she asks looking about for the necessary wipes.
"Why don't you diaper him?" asks Enia in confusion.
"One, I've never diapered any of my young. If he's old enough to play with matches, he can do his thing outside. Two, have you ever seen a dragon with diaper rash? Not pretty... We will just have to remind him to do it before he goes to sleep from now on. Sort of put him on a housebreaking schedule. Take him out regularly and tell him to try his hardest to go.,"

Kero twists and turns in his sleep, his golden copper scales rasping against Lyssan as she picks him up. To her amusement, Ly discovers the young dragon isn't wet at all. The stench around him is just in the air, it seems. For a few minutes, the queen of the kitsune is very very very confused by this phenomenon, but then it slowly, ever so slowly, dawns on her what had happened. As the realization arrives, Kero does it again, this time making lots of noise so there can be no doubt what had happened. Kero breaks wind with a long squeaky one, stinking the place up once more.

Enia laughingly runs to open the balcony door and what few windows the nursery has, while Lyssan carefully places him back down on the pillow.
"Whew, what did he eat last, do you suppose? Oh, yeah, that scorpion mash you brought in..." she remarks with a strained chuckle. "That was horrendous. I thought dragons were supposed to belch the gas, not pass it..."
Lyssan laughs softly with a nod. "Not until he's a bit older, I'm afraid, then we'll need to bed him in a stone nest or nonflamable materials until he learns to control it better. And it won't smell any better either way it leaves him. Either way it will be foul. Anyway... you sill should do what I asked though... better safe than sorry I always say."

Finally finished with his attempts to bug bomb the place with his personal gasses, Kero settles back into the pillows, smiling as he cuddles down into them, grabbing the cat that Amestru had shown to him earlier and hugging it close as he sinks into more proper slumber, this time without bad dreams about evil red flowers. Soon, he begins to lightly snore, and occasionally, his foot twitches or he giggles a little bit.

Lyssan moves to a nearby rocking chair and settles in. There are other thinbgs she could and should be doing but she really doesn't feel like doing them. There are things troubling her mind, like the fact that Kero is once again stuck like this and she has no idea how long her old friend will be caught in this juvenile stage, and she can dwell on that problem here just as easily as she can anywhere else.
Slipping in quietly with her arms stacked full of pads and what have you, Enia catches sight of the small drgon peaceful slumber and grins.
"Aw... look at him? Have you ever seen something so cute? He's dreaming..."
"No doubt dreaming up trouble... I've heard that giggle before..." chuckles LYssan back at her, but she is grinning as well. "Actually this is the most peaceful I've seen him in ages... let's let him enjoy it."

Smiling in his sleep, Kero crawls out of the nest, showing a little known fact: The Lord of the endless Void is a somnambulist. He crawls around, like he is stalking prey, and then seems to center in on Lyssan, stalking her foot. Finally, he pounces...and misses, hitting Enia's toesies instead, and bumping his nose. He actually bumps hard enough to wake up, and shakes his head in confusion. Seeing Enia there, though, he hugs her leg, smiling.
"Hiya, Enia. How I get hewe? I go sweep, den hewe I am. How hewe?"

Enia laughingly picks him up and gives him a big hug. "You were dream walking, Kero. Walking in your sleep. It looked like you were having such a fun dream too."
Lyssan nods with a grin from her place in the rocking chair. "Yes you were. So, how do you feel now, Kero? Are the ouchies a little better?"

Lyssan holds out her arms and Enia places him on her lap, where she makes a great show of examining each one, then kissing the worse of the burns.
"There, every child says a mother's kiss helps make thing better... wouldn't know myself, my mother wasn't the kissing type, but hey... we should at least give it a try, right?" She announces with a smile hugging him close.
"Would you like to go outside for a bit? I think Daddy has taken Kya to the garden."
