((ester did you take my character? xD It is totally fine just wondering...))
Devault turned away from the scene with Ester and Elk. He was tired, and he needed rest. But he couldn't rest here. His insticts were kicked into over drive and he felt a disturbance near the cornucopia. He contemplated the thought of rejoining the others, but he ignored it. "The only way to win is to be witty and stealthy. No amount of allies can hide that. And the more people I have to look out for, the easier it is for that monster of a boy to find me." He whispered to himself.
He thought maybe he could try and pair up with them, but the haunting vision of both the scene at the horn and the premonition of Elk ripping Devault in half wasn't comforting...
He remember Ester. If he could try and ally with her, Elk would have no choice would he.... It wasn't a fool-proof plan but it is a start. First thing is first, he needs to separated the two.
Devault gathered what materials he could from around the forest and his pack and spent most of the afternoon trap-making. Along with that he was making basic poison's with the herbs he could ravage from dead packs, plants, and berries around the forest. He decided that it wuld be useful to not olnly concentrate on the offensive, so he made a few poultices just in case. One of the main reasons he got such a high ranking in training was because of his inate talent for advanced traps and herbalism. Although he didn't have the materials that were available in training, these basic salves would do.
He started towards Ester's camp but silently and deftly.

Elk shook Ester awake sometime around 4 in the morning, he had been awake watching over ester's troubled sleep for about...7 hours he guessed. He wanted dearly to comfort the little girl in her nightmare filled sleep. but his duty was to watch her back, and to give her as much sleep as possible. no doubt she'd enjoy his company, but she needed to rest. so, elk compromised her comfort for her energy. As Ester woke up, perhaps happy that maybe she would not have to dream of nightmares anymore, they traded spots. Elk leaned his spear up against the lean-to hut, tossed another log onto the fire, and fell asleep without a word.
It was cold. at first when I woke up I felt hot because I couldn't sleep well, but the cold air chilled the sweat on my body quickly. I huddled next to the camp fire. It wasn't burning very strongly, but Elk said not to put any more wood on it. he didn't want there to be any smoke. I huddled very close to it, and it somewhat warmed my body. We have our little hut leaning against a big tree. there's a small campfire surrounded by rocks, there's a knife spiked into the ground, and elk's spear leaning up against the hut. We don't have very much, but it would have to do. Elk ripped up his shirt and strung it up against a big rock that he said would collect water. I don't know how water would come from a rock, but in the little leaf baskets he's constructed, there's a little puddle of water forming in it. He said that we could drink it after we found a way to boil it. so he said to just wait. he also used his shirt to set up traps or something. he said to just listen for the snap of tree branch and then to wake him up. I didn't know what he meant, but I almost jumped when he turned in his sleep. I'm scared.
I hug my knees and scoot a little closer to the fire. I don't like here. I want to get away. But I don't know where I'd go. I'm scared.
Nii-san... it's been years since I've seen him... what has it been... 7 years now? It does and doesn't feel that long, but just the thought of him warms my heart. but it all only manifests as a smile. As I run through the trees silently, I keep thinking about how young he looks. I'd hate to think that all of that public garbage has finally gotten to him, but I must say that I too am a bit of a victim of the luxuries of this modern world. But then again, what would I do with the money I take from the drunken bastards after I win their pathetic bar fights? Alcohol is just not the same as what it used to be, so I've given up drinking. Makeup nowadays is just god awful, so I've abondened that mostly also. And I've yet to see roasted chestnuts in a cafe anywhere. just pathetic. I should go gambling maybe, but I'd draw too much attention to myself.
Whatever though, as I move toward Nii-san's location, I also wonder about the little girl he grabbed with him. She looked a bit like Kasumi. Ah, but with all of this Capital makeup and garbage, it's probably just coincidence that she resemble my sister. ((Ayane is jealous of how beautiful her sister is))
I'm lost in thought as I run through the forest, but I stop abruptly when I notice a boy beneath me encroaching towards a small stream of smoke where I'm heading. My first instinct is to just kill him and be on my way. But I remember that this entire event is televised, and that I must not interfere or else they for sure would find me and kill me. I stay my blade, and watch carefully from the distance. And because I am a Kunoichi, he has no idea that I'm here.
Devault walked carefully, following the smell of smoke as he walked. He was careful though, in these twilight hours, it's likely that Ester would be on guard and that Elk is sleeping after spending the night on duty. He may be a carrier, but he's not invincible. I'm very careful as I walk, but I almost step right onto a perfectly laid trap when I notice a dead squirrel tangling in front of me, suspended by a trap that severed it's spinal column. I chuckle, although I've played with traps all my life, this one is pretty impressive. But I should expect such as much from a top carrier like him. He's been trained to kill since he was a kid. he's have information from the top and the best in the capital, while I'd dream of such things. I'm careful to avoid the trap on the floor, but I take a minute to study it. perfectly created, it severs the animals spinal column by surrounding it's neck and legs and then uses it's weight against it. But elk has a flaw, there's a pile of tree nuts next to each trap. I inspect them, clearly not edible, but I guess the animals around here have the stomach. I cut the dead squirrel from it's grim noose, and get up behind a bush and see a little girl hugging her legs next to a small fire. and it looks like Elk is still sleeping, I can just barely see his leg laying down. Too perfect...
((ohshi- this would be like.. day two..))

((I don't know really where everyone else's character is, so I'm just going to work with the lone wolves right now and try to get that soup stirring, I don't know how the teams are forming up, too much happening and not enough connecting, so I'm just going to leave it for anyone who actually understands what is going on. Ephrim gets to take the spotlight when I come back to type more.))

((I would like it if I could play my own character please! ): ))
Devault was hesitant. He knew that one false move would be his doom. Maybe if he presented himself in the open they would see him as not a threat. But Elk would be smarter than that if he paid attention to the pre-game. Devault's neighboring score to Elk's own would probably give away, from Elk's point of view, that Dev wasn't here to play games. He shyed away from that idea as he wanted to avoid conflict. Maybe a slight noise would stir Ester. If she truely cared about Elk, she would make sure he got his rest, but if Elk truely cared about Ester he wouldn't let her venture out alone...
He sighed. Seeing almost no possible outcomes in which his life was spared and Ester remained unharmed... He jumped in a tree parallel to their camp. Leaning against the branch, he would just wait and observe from their for a while. He already prepared himself with camo.
Maybe he would be lucky enough for one of them to be poisoned and then he could save the day and be allied... for the time being and then the idea struck him. He quietly err silently placed a few berries, of which were poisoned outside of the camp. Hoping that they would eat them so he could administer an anti-venom, but of course this was all based on theory.

The wolf was following Asch's trail, and she knew it. She also knew that there was no avoiding it, seince it was a mutt. After just a couple minutes she saw it trailing a distance off. why isn't it attacking? Asch was getting nervous now. She climbed a tree quickly and looked at her surroundings. there was no escape from the deadly creature that was tracking her. So she had to face it. Asch slid down from the tree and hit the ground lightly. When she looked up, she saw the mutt staring straight into her eyes. Asch started-- how had it gotten here so fast? she didn't know if she wanted to know the answer to that question. she drew her deadly ball-and-chain weapon from her belt and advanced on the wolf, but it didn't move-- it just kept on staring her down. Asch whipped the chain of her weapon out, slashing the nose of the wolf, but it didn't seem to notice. She cut and whipped it over and over again, growling in frusteration "Why. Aren't. You. MOVING!" banging her weapon on it's thick hide with each word.
As Asch stopped to take a breath, she heard a fierce growling behind her and she froze-- did she dare turn around?

Aliena walked through the forest. She was impaciently searching for Devault. In a weird way, she had gained romantic feelings for him during training. She laughed silently in her mind. In the few days of training and mingling with the other tributes, she already gained feelings for one, eventhough one of them would have to be dead. She saw a girl fighting off a wolf. She was surrounded and had the odds not in her favor... She pulled her dagger chain out of her belt and crept up on the wolfish mutt. She lashed out and the dagger plunged in its thick hide of a coat. It whined in pain but reared up towards her, almost unphased. Aliena was not afraid.

Celaes had been out hunting when she saw Devault trap that squirrel. Out of curiousity, she followed him and was now in the tree behind him. She laughs to herself and steps gently onto his tree and crouches next to him. In a voice barely about a whisper, she speaks to him: "Long time no see. Having fun playing stalker?"

The fear is becoming unbearable, I'm almost certain that I hear voices coming from the forest, but that'd be impossible. There's no way they could avoid Elk's traps... right? I'm so frightened, I want to wake up Elk and just have him hold me, but I know he's tired and that I should let him rest and that he might get mad at me if I wake him up. But I'm scared. I crawl over to him and tap him on the shoulder, he turns over and opens his eyes a little. "What is it Ester?" "Elk... I'm scared..."
I sit up, I think for a second just how long she let me rest... must have been around one or two hours. Not enough sleep obviously, but I should have expected just as much, she's pretty damn jittery and she looks like she's been spooked for the past two weeks. Well actually, it's just showing now. I sit up, a little frusterated at myself for overestimating Ester again, I keep forgetting that she's just not as capable of myself, and if I keep trying to play her as a queen and not the pawn that she is, I'm going to lose this match. She sits awkwardly on her knees and wraps her arms around my naked torso. "Elk... Don't go away..." I look down at her, her soft hair rubs against my chest and I can't help but smile a little at her. She is quite pretty. I put one arm around her back, and I rub her head a little. I lean back against the tree and relax a little bit. You know, the morning is so beautiful. the sun rises and patches of orange and gold light dance through the forest. and a slight bit of dew causes the sun to shimmer and dance. and, I have little ester resting on my lap, she's not asleep, but she's scared. "Hey Ester." "Yeah Elk?" "It's pretty out this morning." She turns her face away from my chest and looks out the hut opening at the sunrise. "Don't you think it's pretty?" Her breathing calms, she doesn't say anything really at first, but then she turns around and hugs me tighter. "I want to be with you." I smile, and I'm glad that I can give her at least some comfort. And you know, it's so nice out right now, I don't feel bad resting my head on the tree trunk and falling asleep. You know... I really don't care if I die right here with Ester in my arms. Because... well... what's the point? yeah... What's the...
point...
...
Ephrim nearly drown in the pond he was in, but once he was able to crawl out onto the shore, the lack of air in his body made him stop. Coughing, he knelt on his hands and feet with is eyes closed tight. It was a while before he could muster the strength to open his eyes. He picked himself up from the mud, and first took in his surroundings. Forest, clearing, rock, pond, water, lilypads. He took off his backpack, and first took the bullet out that had lodges itself perfectly into the blade that was stored in there. As soon as he pulled the bullet out, the blade broke in two. A sigh of frustration, but the knife was still usable. it could cut, just not really stab anything. He took out a yellow plastic waterbottle that was full and drank a big gulp. it was wasteful, but he didn't care much. It helped him relax a little. But he did scowl at himself a bit and snapped the cap on and remembered that he had to try to ration it. He pulled out what appeared to be a bug of wadded black plastics. he turned the tarp like material over in his hand. It appeared waterproof and pretty sturdy, but it was all cut up in rectangles. It would serve some use, just nothing he could think of at the time. He took out a gray rock and looked at it. It didn't seem very special, but then he remembered how you could rub some sort of rock against metal and it would spark. He took the broken part of his dagger and rubbed it against the rock, and to his delight, spark emitted quite gratuitously. Lastly, there was a small plastic bag tied off with a pink ribbon. The bag had written on it "May the odds forever be in your favor..." and it was full of what appeared to be hard candies. He eyed them careful, he'd never tasted candy before, and the colors were so bright... he took out a blue one and popped it quickly in his mouth. Oh god, it tasted awful, he spat it out quickly into the water and asked why on earth kids dreamed of garbage like that. But, then the candy caused to water to fizzle... like it was some sort of magic trick. Then it came to him that maybe these weren't candies. He looked for the blue candy in the water, but it had instantly dissolved. He tied the rest of his 'candies' up carefully and thought about what they did. but it was beyond his comprehension.
He sat on the bank of the tiny stream for a while. he tossed a couple of pebbles into the cold and slowly moving stream. He studied the sort of bamboo growing next to the stream. he hadn't seen any bamboo at all in the forest, it was dense with maples and oaks, so for there to be bamboo was quite odd. But he remembered that once, one of the peacekeepers talked about eating bamboo shoots. He knew that shoots were small plants, so he pulled up one of the younger bamboo plants and cut off the muddy root. He peeled back the bark on the outside and realized that the stuff was quite sticky. But he brought it to his mouth and took a bite. He couldn't quite tear off a piece with his teeth, but the sticky syrup was quite sweet. He lick the piece and was rewarded with more sweetness... and he liked it. Ephrim wondered if it was poisonous, but it tasted like sugar, and he'd never had anything like this before, it was better than a ripe peach or any sort of berry he'd every picked. He didn't know what to call the delicious bamboo, so he called it sweet bamboo ((it's actually sugarcane)). after he had sucked the shoot dry, he tossed it carelessly into the stream. and then something darted away as the shoot hit the water. He looked closer, and then saw that there were fish in the stream. He smiled widely, he could catch a fish, and then cook it up with his spark rock. he wondered if he could use his broken knife as a hook or sort, but after cutting his finger on it, he thought better to make a spear out of it. and besides, he didn't have any nets or string. He cut a notch into the sharp blade on either end, and then found a stringy weed growing abundantly on the forest floor. He took an older truck of sugar bamboo, sturdy on the outside, and still slim. and he tied the broken blade to the staff. He had to cut deaper notches into the blade front so the vine would not cut, but after some fiddling, he held his sugar spear with pride. He tried to spear at a fish, but the point went high and missed the fish. He tried for hours and hours, but kept hitting the fish too high, and they would escape unharmed. After 2 hours of no success at all, he sat frustrated on the mud and wondered why he couldn't catch anything. He knew people caught fish this way, he remembered that from his training. They used to catch fish like this in olden times. He dipped his hand into the water, and the realized that his hand distorted when it was in the water. it... bent when it was in the water. Then he started to connect the dots... the picked up his spear again and tried touching rock in the water. and then he realized that he had to aim differently to touch the rocks. He practiced for about five minutes, and then he walked back to the deeper part of the stream. and then 5 minutes later, he smiled widely as a fish waged desperately but it had been squarely skewered through the center.
Ayane watched with concern and another child revealed herself a little too close to Nii-san that she wished. If it came down to it, she would have to kill the two if they tried to attack Nii-san. She made sure her kuni were close, and watched quietly. The two appeared not to fight each other, and this only concerned her more. If they weren't going to kill each other, they were going to attack.
She whispered softly to herself. "Atchi e ike... Ichi-nin de ani o nokosu... Hanarete iku." (Go away... leave brother be... go away.)

Devault sighed. He was a fool, there was no way they would ally themselves with him and there was no way in broad daylight that he could take either of them out with out fatal reprocutions. He stood up from the tree and jumped down. He broke down the traps Elk had layed a while ago and ravaged them for materials. He gathered his own traps and found some game trapped in the jaws of a leghold trap... He turned and winced at the blinding sunlight. But not to far off, he saw a disturbance, something trying to hide itself. Person or animal, he couldn't tell. When he saw a glint of a knife his expression drained.

Ayane froze, the boy was looking directly at her. Did he see her? No... that'd be... impossible... She flicked her head up when she heard the tree strain ever so little, and there stood a girl above her head. "How could I be so careless??" she thought angrily to herself. Although it only took about 5 seconds, she had compromised herself entirely and the capital televisions might have gotten enough of a profile of her. She slammed her hands and palms together to form the crow symbol and she yelled aloud گرانت به من بال برای فرار از دشمنان من The boy cocked his head in confusion, obviously never had he heard such an ancient language, but then Ayane appeared on one of the distant mountains very, very far away. She cringed at herself angrily for letting herself be exposed. "Ku so~tsu subete, watashi wa sorera no shihon yarō wa watashi ga ki ni naru no kōundarou. Watashi wa 1tsude wanaku 2-nin no kodomo ga watashi o mite, fuchūi ete iru hitsuyō ga arimasu. Ni-nin! Ku so~tsu. Tashika ni karera wa, kyōdai shite, o mitsukeru tsumorida... ... Karera wa sorera subete o koroshite yaru... Īe... Ani... Kuso no kuso o kami! Dono yō ni watashi wa totemo fuchūi kamo shirenai! Watashi wa modotte no ga sorera o shutoku suru hitsuyō ga aru. Watashi ga shitashi-sugi o kaketa..." Ayane drew her double sided blade in rage, not only had she exposed herself and now risked being killed at any moment, but she compromised her brother and likely every other child down there. Not to mention that they may even be able to track it all back to Kasumi... Elk woke up abruptly. "What was that?" "What was what Elk?" "That voice... didn't you hear it?" "No... I didn't hear anything... Please Elk... Your scaring me." "Come on, get up Ester, I'm going to check that out." "No... please... let's stay here... where it's safe..." "Up, come on, I know that voice..." Elk rose quickly, he strapped on his sandals and grabbed his spear from the hut. He tossed the knife into his black backpack, and then took Ester's hand and he wandered into the brush. "Damnit, something got to all of my traps. they're all gone. And you didn't hear anything Ester?" "well...I..." "What did you hear ester?" "Voices... but I didn't hear the one that you heard Elk. Maybe they're just jabberjays." "They'd be screaming if they were jabberjays, I heard someone, what did you hear?" "Whispers, I couldn't make them out... but there were lots of them." Then, a loud voice rang from the woods. "So, the little mouse has come out to play." Elk readies his spear, he tossed his heavy backpack to the ground and ordered Ester to retrieve the knife. And Elk retorted. "Don't make me kill you, take yourself and get away from here." " 'Dont make me kill you', you should be begging the opposite you murderer. Surely you haven't forgotten what's happened to Royce and Charger." The two decapitated boys on the hill. "If you want revenge, then you'll only find death here." "Yes... I will take your life elk... it would only be fair." Someone dropped down from the tree above him wielding a massive battle axe. Elk rolled backwards as the axe dropped into the ground and sunk in almost to the shaft. Ester yelled out: "Elk!!" "Ester! get out of here, I'll find you after I'm done with Leon!" "Don't worry Elk, after I skin you piece by piece I'll make sure to take care of your girlfriend. It'd be such a pity to kill her, but I'm sure I can find other uses for a girl like herself." "Tha petháneis, prin na epikoino̱neíte eíte apó emás. Afí̱ste tó̱ra protoú na sas skotó̱soun." Elk ran towards the monster 18 year old carrier with is spear drawn and ready to skewer. Lion drew a massive b*****d sword and with one slash, he deflected Elk's charge. "Come come, you didn't think I knew that you'd fancy the spear Elk. It's too bad you never took the time to look at anyone besides yourself!" Leon ran at Elk with his sword drawn low, swinging upwards diagonally, Elk stepped backwards quickly, but Leon had the sword over his head. He brought the sword down, and it cut through the spear cleanly and stopped as it hit Elk's right forearm. His bone was stronger than steel, and although it had no problem stopping a steel blade, is hurt all the same. Elk clutched his bleeding right arm with his left, dropping his weapon. Leon followed up with a quick boot to Elk's face, and as his head hit the ground and the mud, He looked up as world then started to turn gray, and then black. Leon was about to drive his sword into his torso. "Goodbye, you monster." Ester yelled out, she had Elk's blade in hand and ran the blade through Leon's chest. He dropped his sword and it cluttered to the ground, and he grabbed at his chest clutching for the air that was escaping through his punctured lung. He swinged his hand backwards in a fist in hit the left side of Ester's mouth. Ester drew the sword in deeper, and then the gagged screams on Leon filled the air until finally he dropped to the forest floor dead. My hands shake, and the warm feeling of blood covers them... It's on me... his... blood. And the screams as he died fill my mind and it contorts and closes on all of the fears of my life. I feel sick to my stomach, and my eyes feel wet, I... I don't know what to do, so I run. I don't feel anything, I can't hear anything, I hear a muted world except for the sounds of a tiny few leaves crunching beneath my running feet. but it's slow, like I'm in slow motion as I run. I clutch my head with both of my hands as I run, and I try to shake the image of blood and death from my mind, and I'm only filled with the fear, that the blood and death will come and get me too. And I keep running. I wake up and things look fuzzy. I can't remember what happened until I see Leon dead with a bloody hole through his chest. I groan as I stand up and hobble a little. Then I realize the my right arm is bleeding badly, and I grab it with my left arm is squeeze until I feel pain in my muscles, but at lead the bleeding has stopped. Then I wonder where Ester is, but I don't wander long until I see bloodied footsteps running away from the scene. She must have been running, so I run after her. once the trail of bloodied footprints stops, I can hear her sobbing and crying, and I follow it until I see her walking hopelessly in a field.

Devault watched as the girl, he made that much out, got away. He sighed and heard a cannon go off. He looked back at Elk and not only was he injured but Ester was covered in blood with a body lying in front of her. He jumped down from the tree, now in the open. "What just happened?" He asked Ester in a non chalant manner.
In all seriousness, he was using the battle to earn their trust, if you can't beat um, join um!
He grabbed a few poultices from his pack and handed them to Ester.
"Here you can use these to treat him."

Elk held Ester for a long time, and their moment would only be broken when Devault made himself visible to the two of them. "Here, you can use these to treat him" "What are you doing here." "Well it looks like you could use some help Mr. saved by a 3. ((3 referring to Ester's rating in the training))" "Elk no, we don't need to fight, thank you Devault." Ester took the green moss from Devault and pressed it against Elk's wound. "Ester what if it's poisonous?" "It's not, I studied plants a lot remember?" "Yeah well-OH FU-" Elk cursed aloud as Ester pressed the moss against his arm. She took off her top to tie the moss against the wound. And Devault stared frozen at the multitude of scars covering Ester's back. To the point where her entire back seemed to be composed of scar tissue. 2 long sword scars cut down her back and glowed a deep pink.

"Oh stop your whining Elk. It could've been worse. It doesn't hurt that much." He turned his back cockily.
"Why......," muttered Elk
"What was that?" Dev teased
"Why did you give us these?" Elk couldn't shout as the pain has dissolved his strength.
"Because I am an idiot. Because I have no caring for these pitiful games. The Capitol can eat s*** rather than them watching me struggle for their entertainment. These games have showed me that very thing. Why should it matter to me who wins, as long as the Capitol doesn't get the satisfaction of watching us squirm, I am happy." He twitched a smile at Elk and Ester.
Dev stood stunned at Ester's scars and turned away once more. The sight made him shiver. What happened to her. He was surprised that she was in the games this long with those.
He saw Elk stagger towards his spear and stomped his foot on it.
"Sorry but even though I gave you a poultice, I do not trust you with a weapon even in your weakened state."
He kicked up the spear in a fluid motion and played around with it for a while.
