Who knew minions could do so much damage when you don't fight back? Fawks's new friend follows after the goliath happily, "Oh that's so nice, thanks a lot." The other nearby armadillo circles around the melee of half-elf, warforged and putty men until it stands behind Van, "That was cool, hod's you do that?" it remarks in his head, apparently oblivious to the struggle for his life. ((Fawks takes 5 more damage from fricken minions. wasn't there discussion at the beginning of this adventure about how controllers are unnecessary? Sylvanis, you have initiative, and can make an opportunity attack against carbuncle 1, if you feel like assaulting a helpless animal. map))

The two envelopers don't take too kindly to Van's spike treatment, one shifts after the half-elf and goliath and swinging its doughy limbs at the two. Both the warlord and fighter are held fast by the creature, which then Shifts its form into a caricature of the goliath, declaring "Fawks Smash!" The other enveloper is less vocal, trying to change its own form, but only managing to look like a younger child was its original sculptor. Sylvanis's carbuncle friend approaches him, "See, now you can try talking to the enveloper." It apparently doesn't realize the meaning of the word smash. ((Fawks, 5 damage and weakened (save ends). Van, you can make a warden immediate attack thing on enveloper 1, then you have initiative. map))

Just because he was held fast didn't mean his spear was- the envelopers already had one example of this fact, and as the first ignored him it got a second one, swiping his spear at it and lashing over each with another wave of primal energy to remind them who it was they were trying to eat.
"Lots of practice,"
Apparently oblivious to the etiquette of a struggle for one's life, the warforged calmly replied as it continued to fight, raising his spear high above his head and calling upon the strength of the earth as he slammed the point down into the enveloper again.
"Ask for nature friends' help."
And with this further bit of rebuking and instruction taken care of, he'd attempt to forcibly wrench himself free again.
[Warden's Fury: 1d20+10=25 vs E1's Fortitude, grants combat advantage to all allies for one round if successful] [Mark both envelopers] [Strength of Stone: 1d20+10=26 vs E2's AC, Van gains 4 temp HP if successful] [Escape grapple: 1d20+9=12 vs Fortitude, GOING NOWHERE]

Too distracted by expertly recalling the craft he'd been built for and sticking it to the stickies, Vanguard apparently didn't spare any mentionable effort to the squirming bit.
On the other hand, his armor seemed less than pleased at the whole of the matter and the twisted hide on his back seemed to twist into unreasonably irate faces, fixate on the first enveloper, and shrieked hauntingly at it.
[Warden's Fury: 1d10+5=11 damage to E1] [Strength of Stone: 1d10+5=10 damage to E2] [Screaming Hide Armor: E1 takes -2 to attack rolls until end of next turn.]

Van fails to pull his way out of the putty-prison, but he seems to be making headway at stabbing his way out, the one still wrapped around him starting to look a little frayed at the edges from the abuses of his spear.
Fawks continues to fulfill his role as meat shield by taking two more miniature arrows. One finds home, one doesn't. The chittering that follows them seems to imply that they're quite pleased with themselves and their superior artillery.
((Fawks takes 5 more damage. Colbertron, you're up. the map didn't change other than the spikes going away))

"That's odd. Of all the things I expected to find, this was not it. 'Keep Out, All Mercutios'. That is kind of a let down."Scratching his head, Brother Mercutio would step back and observe the odd stand-alone door thoughtfully. It was then he noticed the peephole. "Oh! Maybe this might give me some sort of spoooky insight as to what lies on the other side of this door?" he boasted proudly, stepping forward and bending forward to look within. ... "... Well, then."*Rattle Rattle Rattle*"That's just peachy. How am I supposed to help them when I'm locked out? Maybe it can only be opened from the other side..." Stepping back and around, he would go to jiggle the handle from the door's opposite end. ... Looking over his shoulder, the young man with short, golden hair and bright flashy robes turned to see the combat. How did he even...? Well, no need worrying about it now, this is where he wanted to be anyways, wasn't it? Ahem. FREE ACTION"OKAY! WHICH ONE OF YOU PISSED IN THE DRUID'S CHEERIOS?!"Friggin' tempermental druids. Look what they did. MOVE ACTIONStaring two spaces south of Carbuncle 1, moving NE 5, N 1, ending three squares north of Colbertron. STANDARD ACTION x 2 (ACTION POINT)"I, Brother Mercutio, missionary of the Holy Bastion of Luminosity, call upon the light of Pelor that is within me, to light the darkness within the souls of these forsaken beasts. HAND OF RADIANCE, AND MAKE IT DOUBLE!"Waving his staff about, he would point it forward, six beams of radiant light blasting forth, weaving interchangeably through the air as each one homed in on a different squirrel. Quote: Hand of Radiance: +7 vs Reflex (vs 3, 6, 7) Hand of Radiance, Action Surge: +10 vs Reflex (vs 1, 2, 4) Mercutio regains 0 HPs. Initiative: +1+2

Colbertron sweeps back the way he came, trailing truthiness and patriotism for a fallen empire. ((2SW, 1W, shadowwalk on))
"Welcome back! You, jewelly-head-thing." ((curse Carbuncle 1)) "What can you tell me about clay men? Is it true they molest priests?"
((Eyes of the Vestige +8 vs Carbuncle 1's will))((btw, pact with Zutwa right now))
Colbertron's eyes gleam a brilliant red behind his wire-rimmed spectacles, a glow that is reflected in the ruby-armadillo-thinger's eyes as well and it involuntarily turns to look at the enveloper behind it, which has a pair of glowing spots appear somewhere on its form.((Enveloper 2 is cursed, C1 takes 17 psychic damage))
"Well, I think that speaks volumes."

initiative: 24- Fawks 22-carbuncle5 20 - Sylvanis 17-enveloper1 - 16 damage, Marked by van, grants combat advantage and -2 to attacks for a turn 17-enveloper2- 31 damage, cursed, marked by van 13-carbuncle3 12-Vanguard 6-Colbertron 6-carbuncle2 4-Mercutio So, wow. Apparently Pelor hates squirrels, and provides better artillery in his war against rodents. In one hell of a laser light show the invoker makes his entrance and causes all of the fuzzy little bastards to fall from the trees, dead. The one closest to him reaches one claw toward his murderer, and with his dying breath squeaks, "Aw nuts." After Colbertron's victim imparts his curse upon its maleable ally, it tenses up, and then collapses, the ruby on its forehead crumbling to dust (pact boon away). The remaining carbuncles all turn their attention to the warforged that has served as grim reaper to two of their number now, and a chorus declares in his head, "Murderer! You're a bad man!" The farthest of the carbuncles shuffles toward him as angrily as its tiny legs can carry it (Provoking an OA from Fawks, if you're into clubbing cute golden armadillos) ((Mercutio, your Initiative puts you right after Colbertron, so you can go again, but try not to embarrass me quite so much this time, aren't you supposed to be cursed by the dice gods or something? Fawks, you are grabbed, weakened, being made fun of, and can also go, though actions will be resolved in Initiative order. Suddenly very sparse looking map))

Hot... Hotter... Brother Mercutio was on FIRE! cool Cracking his knuckles, he would survey the battlefield. It was then that he would notice the giant... things. Well, he noticed them before, but really didn't get a nice long LOOK at them, y'know? MOVE ACTIONBrother Merc would shift Northwest, cause he could... STANDARD ACTION"You wayward souls look like you could use a touch of divinity right about now. If you've got this, then by all means, speak up. I don't want to hog ALL the glory!" Pausing, he would add, "After all, Pelor has enough glory for all of us!"Aiming his staff at the closest Clay-like creature, Brother Mercutio would ready another radiant ray. "By the Light and Grace of almighty Pelor, I order you to cease your wicked ways! AVENGING LIGHT!"Quote: Avenging Light: +7 vs Enveloper 1's Fort ((Although, apparently, larger targets were harder to hit. Or something. I blame Spork for reminding my dice.)) At the last moment, the beam would veer to the right an impact uselessly against some surface. Looking puzzled, Brother Mercutio would look at the business end of his staff and whack it a few times. It was then, that he noticed it, in the sky: A CLOUD. And an oddly-shaped one, at that. "I... I understand. Thy will be done!" Brother Mercutio would shout to the sky. Uh-oh...
