Evie held her stare at Ms. McDowell before her ears drooped slightly. She was right sort of. Though, being able to talk however she seemed fit was going a little overboard. Oh well, Evie thought with a slight flick of her tail. She did need the class after all. No use getting kicked out over something like this.

With that thought Evie turned back to her work. Her eyes strayed to Miya for a moment. "No need to get so upset Miya," Evie told her with a smile. "It's not such a big thing, we're still here aren't we? Didn't get kicked out, right?" Evie answered her own questions with a few swishes of her tail and a bigger smile.

"Just cut down the middle and poke around inside, it's really not that bad," she told her friend. To demonstrate Evie picked up her scalpel once more and moved the two halves of the stomach so the inside of the piglet was revealed. Then with a grimace she began to move around the organs with the scalpel.

"See, not bad at all," Evie told Miya, still grimacing.

The poor witch looked like she was more likely to slice her own hand off, before she actually got a cut on the pig, but to his surprise, both the girls returned to the their table, and their respective pigs. Evie's obvious distaste for the work didn't appear to be helping the situation, though, and it had been an awfully long time since Pan had participated in any absurdities. Over twenty minutes.

He pulled a fistful of paper towels from the dispenser behind the sink, and quietly enough to avoid being heard by Miya's all too human ears, he crept up behind the girl, and without warning molded himself around her back, and grasped her wrist softly. His hand moved atop her own, forcing her fingers to grasp the scalpel tightly.

His lips brushed the shell of the girl's ear as he spoke in his lowest, and most calming voice. "Close your eyes, and I'll help you." he waited for a long moment, waiting for her eyelids to flutter shut, before reaching over with his free hand to lay the paper towels over the piglets head and legs, leaving only the unopened abdomen exposed, and moved to guide her hand through the first incision, waiting for either resistance or relaxation.

Contented by his recent snack, Ran resumed wandering the hallways. It seemed his luck was eminent today, and so far waiting until an opportunity for entertainment had simply run into him. The choice that he had made for such a filling, yet non-existant, first period had proven to be interesting. For a second, Ranofer thought about returning to Kiala’s room and annoy her a bit, but he had already scanned that crowd for potentials, and that was only one classroom out of many full of students. He’d have plenty of time over the school year to play around with them.

Turning a corner, he caught sight of a human-looking girl walking towards him. The look of distress caught in her frown made him smile for a couple of reasons. The fact that he absolutely hated humans was one thing, but one so helpless and lost was just the cherry on the top of it all. Ran walked up to her with a pleasant smile gracing his perfect, pale lips. “A little lost?” he asked, stopping in front of the girl, “What room are you looking for? I can take you there,” he offered, pure unseelie charm melting in his voice. “I’m Ran, you new?” the fake friendliness in his voice could be easily mistaken as true kindness; he was so used to this act, it became second-nature to put on this front.

[Eww, short, sorry D=]

Bell had been wandering aimlessly, finding no signs whatsoever in the vicinity when an unseelie boy came to stand in front of her.

"A little lost?" he asked her before continuing, "What room are you looking for? I can take you there."

Bell considered the newcomer's offer as she looked him up and down. Something about him didn't really seem quite right, and her senses were screaming at her to reject him, that she would be better off finding the room on her own. She bit her lip a little nervously as her eyes explored him, noting the dark blood colored horns above his ears and the sharp translucent teeth in his smile. All in all, he didn't seem like the nicest person ever, in fact he was downright frightening in appearances. Despite that, he was being kind to her; he was the first one around here to offer her any help, though that could have been because the other students couldn't tell that she was lost since she couldn't bring herself to ask for help. She was completely lost in this maze of hallways, and he was actually volunteering to helo her. How could she refuse and offer like that? She pushed down her senses, telling them to be quiet since they couldn't lead her out of this mess and he hopefully could.

She was so lost in her thoughts that she almost didn't notice as he continued speaking. Fortunately, her ears had caught the sound even if her mind had been too busy processing its examination to listen to it and she recalled that he'd introduced himself with another question. She tried to smile in return but knowing how bad she was at acting, it most likely came out as a grimace instead, "Um.. yes. I'm Bell. Was it really that obvious?" Before he could reply, she continued on, "Actually, never mind that. I was looking for the headmaster's office." She was quite sure she already knew the answer to her question and neither needed nor wanted another reminder of just how out of place she was here. It was bad enough that she knew she looked, acted, and thought much like a human, knowing that everybody else could see it and her nervousness would be too much knowledge just now.

((It's ok. Your short post is very appreciated, since I was just thinking I'd have to actually make her find someone to ask directions. So you saved me, really. Plus mine's not really much longer...))

Miya looked a Evie with a weak smile, trying to get her spirits back up. It was proving very difficult, though, with the dead piglets about her. When her friend then tried to demonstrate for the confused witch, she flinched, and grimaced at the sight.

Again, Miya was doubting herself. She wasn't sure that she had the strength of stomach to open the little animal and inspect it's insides... She was still uncomfortable even looking at it when Evie tried to help her!

A soft gasp and slight flinch of surprise left her lips when suddenly, she felt a body gently pressed to her back. Blush erupted onto her pale complexion; no one had ever been this close to her... Who was it!? She hadn't even heard them come up behind her! A lovely tanned hand held her slender wrist, and she knew who it was. Pan slid his hand over hers and gave her a more confident grip on the scalpel.

The petite witch gave a shiver when she felt his lips gently brush the shell of her ear as he spoke delicately to her. Her tensed shoulders slowly loosened, and her eyes fluttered closed as she let him guide her. Miya never would have expected someone to help her... Especially not in such a way as this! She was so thankful... She would be indebted to him for this... He was being so kind, something she had not expected to find after being scolded by Ms. McDowell...

"Don't look yet." Pan murmured as he dragged the young witch's hand, and thus the blade, across the creature's exposed stomach. He knew how to separate the reality of a dead body from the idea of a baby animal for himself, but transferring that detachment to others was much harder. Still, any excuse to make a cute girl blush was a good one.

He released Miya's hand and pinned the abdomen of the piglet open, exposing the organs inside. The liver, stomach and lungs were clearly visible to him, though they were all similar shades of ruddy brown and of the same under-developed size.

Still meshed against the girl's back, he said "Now, I want you to think about this. You can either go through the whole task blind, and I'll help you, or, you can open your eyes, and I'll still help you, and Evie will help you, and you can remember that this is what happens: little animals die, sometimes, and the best way to keep it from happening again is to learn why it happened and prevent it. And you aren't learning that yet, but if you can't do this, you can't ever understand how to keep them alive at all, and you really ought to switch into another study."

He arched himself, stretching over the girl's shoulder in the least awkward way he could manage, and kissed her neck lightly as his face past it. "What do you pick?"

Ranofer's smile pulled to one side in a smirk as he watched the girl look him over. Was he that frightening? Or did this girl act like this around everyone she met. 'Maybe she's just untrusting to strangers. Some people are like that..' he thought, keeping himself occupied while he waited for the girl to respond. It was then that he realized she might just be a mage. 'Damn. TrueSight is a b***h. Oh well,' he thought to himself idly, pressing his lips together to hide those creepy teeth of his. The fact that she wasn't really human didn't change his views on the girl, she still seemed pure of mind; and someone that mortal-looking was never a friend of his. It was getting quite amusing to watch the girl's expression change, but he didn't feel very bad for distressing the girl even more. She was obviously having an inner conflict on whether or not she should accept his offer. The girl's emotions could be read as easily as a book.

Ran's smirk softened as the girl finally spoke, introducing herself as Bell; though the strained smile on her face was enough to show she wasn't entirely sure of her decision to let him lead her. "Well Bell, I can definitely take you there," he said with one of his deadly, yet attractive smiles (lips closed, of course). Grabbing her shoulder lightly he pulled her in the right direction, looking down at her with glowing red eyes, "Don't worry, I won't bite."

Inwardly laughing at the nervousness he was surely making Bell feel, Ran continued walking along with his hand on her shoulder; loving the amount of tension that was to be experienced since the Headmaster's office was down a good ways. "So, you're new here.. Yet you seem human. What's your story?" he asked coyly, but in reality he could care less about such nonsense; he was just playing out his normal game. Ah, the joys of life...

Miya continued to blush as she listened to Pan's comforting words, nodding slightly when he would tell her not to do something. She wasn't expecting him to release her hand, and made the smallest of noises, showing her confusion, before he began to speak again.

Pan was being so gentle with her, and his words not only made so much sense, but also served well in comforting her. She was so glad he was there, and that he could support her when she was scared and upset so much. She nodded shyly, blushing more and hoping that she could handle it, for he was right: It was important for her to learn about this so she could help the little animals in the future.

The young witch took in a shaky breath and blushed more when she felt Pan's lips lightly kissing her neck. "I-I'll do it..." She whispered, afraid, for a moment, to open her eyes. Slowly, they fluttered open, revealing her innocent, glimmering blue eyes, which she cautiously lowered to look at the animal, opened on the table before her. She flinched away slightly, gasping and feeling ill, while starting, again, to doubt herself.

Horatio watched the ebb and flow of the colors surrounding the man, waiting for a lie to surface. But, it didn't, probably because he'd said almost nothing. He was definitely good at the art of telling what was asked, not what was wanted. She watched him study herself as well, but made nothing of it, the colors didn't show anything past mundane interest in a her person, and perhaps a bit of unwarranted familiarity.

"Meh. If you insist, but you don't strike me as a curious person. Course, I don't suppose I know you well enough to make any real claims." she chose not to comment on the sunlight, and waved her hand vaguely around the small kitchen-dining area, and she pulled a tall, bar-style chair to her self and sat, her elbows on the counter.

"Don't just stand there looking all put off, though." the blonde mage waved in the direction of another stool, and it scooted towards her outstretched hand, drawing its legs in as it went, to accommodate the taller man, and leave them both more or less even in height.

"So, you were both expecting to have class this morning. And here I had to cancel all my ones, though I doubt there was disappointment. So few people want to bother with the tech in this place. I need to find some little yellow mages and draft them."

Bell tensed as he put his hand on her shoulder. Having never really been a touchy-feely sort of person, it was very awkward to have this stranger, whom she knew almost nothing about, resting his hand familiarly on her shoulder. She tried to subtly remove his hand, pulling slightly away and rolling her shoulder, but his hand stayed firmly lodged on her shoulder blade as she fidgeted and she eventually gave it up as a lost cause.

She smiled weakly in reply to Ran's joke about not biting. Those teeth that she'd glimpsed and that he was now hiding spoke a somewhat different story than what he was now telling her. She remembered from high school biology that teeth like that belonged to carnivores, not normal omnivores or herbivores. Even the rather attractive smile he'd thrown at her couldn't shake their image from her mind. Then there was the aura that surrounded him; she'd gotten rather good at ignoring aura's around humans, as every injured person she came along would inevitably show in a flash of color if she got too close to them or started thinking about her powers. Now though, she was seeing the colors around all the students and it was rather unnerving to her since she'd rarely seen so many colors at once. To make things worse, Ran's aura was... a combination of crimson red and black... Not exactly the nicest colors for an aura to be, and she was starting to really regret her decision to let him lead her to the office.

As they walked, she began wringing her hands as he asked her about her story, and her nerves shot through the roof. She wasn't ready for this question, not at all. She hadn't asked the headmaster how the majority felt about humans yet, and hadn't really had time to come up with a lie in case everyone hated them. "Ah!... Oh... W-well..." she stuttered out, trying to buy time before she had to say much about herself. She considered stuttering all the way to the headmaster's office, but Ran didn't seem to be in any hurry to get her there, and she didn't know how far away it actually was. It would be really awkward if she spent a whole 20 minutes stuttering over one question. Instead, she decided she'd try to discourage him from that track and change the subject, "Well.. um... I-It's really not all that interesting and I wouldn't want to bore you so soon after having met you. What about you though? How did you get here?" She watched him nervously, desperately hoping he'd give up on her past and tell her about himself. She wasn't really all that interested, but hopefully he'd be one of those people who loved talking about themselves and would take any chance they had to divulge information. At least it would keep her from having to answer any questions.

Pan shook his head as if annoyed, but the same smile still sat on his lips. Just as he had before, he took up the girl's hand, forcing her fingers to lock more tightly around the blade. "Tomorrow, when Tamaranth is having classes again, I'll take you to see her, and she'll make you a mechanical one to take apart until you can stomach it. She lives to make silly things like that. For now, let me do it, and you just have to watch, understood?"

He didn't wait for an answer before pulling her pliable arm back towards the organs. "You can keep turned away, but you have to at least look a bit. Pretend it's someone else." He grasped her free hand lightly and pulled it to his lips, throwing a brief glance to both the Kitten and the Wolf, wondering how it was that neither had seen fit to break up his blatant ...whatever this would be described as. Flirting wasn't good enough.

He waited for the last shivers of tension to dissipate from the girl, before he dared continue. He could feel her pulse, like a tiny bird scared by a great, looming hawk. "It's okay."

Evie's eyes widened when she saw Pan pass by her. She was going to open her mouth to say something until she saw what Pan did next. Her first thought was to smile, and smile she did. It was nice of Pan to help Miya out. Maybe he could help in a way she could not. That's what friends were for.

But then her second thought came into play. Her feline features seemed to droop a bit when Pan kissed her neck. Only further did her ears and tail die down when he kissed Miya's hand. What was this she was feeling; Jealousy? No, no way she was feelings jealous. First of all, Pan was her friend. Second, so was Miya. Why should she be jealous if her friends liked each other when she did not like either of them like that?

Her feline features seemed to agree with her as they sparked back to life. "Pan's right, just watch him," Evie said, finally speaking.

Miya was glad that Pan was there, right behind her, being, in the most literal way as well as figuratively, her support. Her eyes were closed tightly again, and she nodded shyly, ashamed at her weakness and childish manner, but given new hope when Pan told her of Ms. Tamaranth. To all his questions and orders, Miya continued with small, shy nods and little sounds. A bright blush again lit her pale cheeks, though, when she felt him bring her hand to his lips.

She listened to him closely. Her heartbeat was quick and frightened, but she forced her body to loosen, to remain pliable in his hands, wanting him to have all the freedom he needed to get this finished. When she felt him moving her arms again she let her eyes flutter back open, though she didn't look down yet. She hoped Pan would tell her when was an important time for her to look... She knew she wouldn't be able to stomach watching the whole time... That would just be... Too much...

She heard Evie and looked over at her, her cheeks still red, and nodded, trying to be reassuring for herself. "Y-yeah.. I-I'm trying to watch him carefully..." She blushed more, which confused her, but she didn't bother much with thinking about it, and tried to focus more on what he was moving her hands to do.

{{My memory of organs is iffy. I actually ran out of the room and vomited when we did piggy dissections in Bio... But I remember that the livers are weirdly visible in pigs, not all up under the ribs. I'm mostly running on memory as to organ placement here, though, so if anything gets weird, just let me know and I'll change it.}}

Pan laughed internally when Evie finally saw fit to say something, her ears pricking up with what he had to assume was false enthusiasm. He could smell her body from here, oozing attraction to the scene at hand, and he knew how to read a dropping tail and back-laid ears as well as anyway. I'll get to you soon enough, Katzchen. he thought, as he let go of Miya's empty hand. He winked at his fellow Lycan as he put his newly free hand lightly on one of the organs.

"You have to watch this part, Miya." he reminded the little witch softly. His fingers gently pried a dark brown mass off the top of another organ, going slowly to prevent any of the squelching noises that, though he didn't mind them, would probably drive the little witch into tears again.

"This is a liver. You can tell because it's larger than the stomach, it's darker than everything else, and it's the first thing you see in the body cavity. It makes bile, which helps digest food, and it clears poisons out of the blood so they can be excreted." He lifted the liver out of the animal gently, and dropped it into the space on the second tray marked liver.

"Tell me what a liver does, Miya, and how you can know what it is if you see one again." He was careful to use her name often, a trick he'd learned with humans, but that carried across most all species. A person's name is their favorite word, it makes them more at ease, makes them feel at home.

Even as he waited for her answer, he guided her hand through the next series of incisions, this time cutting away the connections of the stomach to the intestines and esophagus.
