"The word 'pono' in the Hawaiian language is referred to most popularly as 'righteousness'. As is stated in the Hawaii state motto:'Ua Mau ke Ea o ka â'ina i ka Pono' (translated directly as: the life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness). However, the word is often used to mean correct, honorable, or good. There are strong cultural and spiritual connotations to the word. A loose definition could be a state of harmony or balance."

Just call me Pono, as you can see above, that is what Pono means.
I am fifteen. I live in Hawaii. I am Japanese x Okinawan.
I'm not into Lolita. And very rarely Anime/Manga.
Do not call me Chan / San / ETC or I will kick your a**l passage so far into your intestines, you won't be able to take a dump.
I am nice, or can be nice. And I'd rather use actual Japanese over Romaji.
Sadly, even though I'm Japanese, I can't speak much Japanese nor understand much Japanese.

Pretty much anything I could tell you about myself is in my profile, but I'll post it here anyway.

I'm a 19-year-old college student gearing up for a university transfer. I plan to pursue a major in screenwriting and a minor in either Asian studies or Japanese. While my long-term goal is to work for The Pokemon Company, I do hope to eventually work on independent and foreign films of LGBTQ interest.

Three of my top four favorite artists are Japanese: PUFFY, Zwei, and Miyavi.

こんばんは、皆さん!

My name is Jay, and I just joined the guild AND Gaia Online x). So I'm like super-noob status right now.

I'm really into Japanese and Japanese culture. Spent a while studying abroad in Kyoto, Japan, full immersion. Love sushi. Love Japanese food (though not a big fan of their salads since it's just lettuce or shredded daikon).

I'm also very much into the arts - hobby-wise I'm into anime/manga, and professionally I lead my marketing team at a hardware company x]. If you want to see some of my works, feel free to visit my desktop wallpaper/graphics site *points to sig*.

That's about it for now xD. Yoroshikune!

Haha, messed up on my first post. Accidently made a new topic with my introduction.... oops. If that one could be deleted?

I'm a new member, so I thought it would be best to introduce myself first.

I come from the Netherlands and I'm 20 years old. I've been studying Japanese for 1 year now. But at school we focus on business Japanese, so it's still a bit hard for me to hold normal conversations. I'm not that good at kanji either and know only about 200 kanji right now. I've been to Japan this summer for a summer course in Nabari and also visited Kyoto, Osaka and Nara.

So... ehm.. nice to meet you all. ^_^

Hello~

Just call me Kelsianna, I'm 15 (16 in two weeks).

I'm taking the JLPT this December, not really sure how long I've been learning...
I learned random words around the 8-11 year old stage, and then learned how to write Hiragana and Katakana plus common phrases when I was 12-13. And since then it's been random vocab and grammar learning. I don't have a problem with reading kanji, just writing it.

I don't have any plans to move to Japan, maybe when I retire, so this is really so I can play Final Fantasy games six months earlier than I normally would. It's a surprisingly effective motivator.

And I'm learning piano so I can play Final Fantasy music.

The reason I'm obsessed with Final Fantasy is because I started playing it (IX) when I was seven, and I was hooked. |D

...This post got longer than I expected it to be. xd

Hello. I'm Kyoki DirzettE (you can call me ki or Dirz, either is fine. Or Moyashi works too XD) I'm 17

I've been learning Japanese for several years (very little was learned 5-8 grade because I just picked up words from anime with English subs)
And in High School as a freshman I took a Japanese course. Unfortunately I failed (lack of studying and I never handed in my culture notebook) and the school wouldn't allow me to take it again sophmore year and by junior year they cut the program. I still have the books from the class. I also have a couple dictionaries and a computer program (no its not the Rossetta stone) and a DS game. Kanji is a bit difficult for me (mainly because I have poor memory.) But I'm starting to understand it a bit more. Living in Japan has always been a dream of mine since I was a little kid, and I've loved the culture, traditions, and language for a very long time as well.

Hmmm, I'm from the USA (which I dislike for various reasons XP), I love video games (mainly RPG), I want to be a voice actor as an adult because I despise the way most of them pronounce a Japanese word when its dubbed in English (DGM's English dub pissed me off a lot XD). I like to sleep, collect various things. I love anime. I like to read, write and draw. And umm- I think that is all XD

-I have a Mac and don't have a program to make it so I can type in Japanese so I have to use Google translate (also I'm not too good at translating for myself lol) [wait... you didn't need to know that XD now I'm just babbling on]

Anyhow, its nice to meet you!
