Tyo Triska I'm inclined to believe that the island is man made. 3nodding I agree completely. But what I meant about Locke not being Locke again is that he was Locke up to a certain point but was taken over? Did he confront the monster before or after his flashback episode? Because if it was before, then I guess my theory's out the window... You know I forget. It might be before.

Which would mean that my theory can't be right anyway. stressed Oh well.

Here's my fixed up theory about the entire thing:
I'm thinking that there are three groups on the island: those who have chashed there by chance (or not) including Danielle and the plain crash peoples, the 'others', including Ethan (who I think it a soldier... Danielle thought Sayid 'still' was one, and he can fight like a motherf*cker!), and then the island itself, including the monster which shows people the thing to help them let go. The island is God, in my mind, and the monster is some sort of arm of the island, like an archangel or the savior on earth. The monster is the physical representation of the island's being. And then the 'others' are those who are evil (including satan??) and the survivors are humans on Earth.
Sorry, I just can't shake the religious metaphor. xD (And I'm not religious in the least!)
Anyway...

Who knows. But there is one fact. The island is not natural. (man made)

Triska Who knows. But there is one fact. The island is not natural. (man made) I'm inclined to agree, although I wouldn't say it's a fact yet. The monster doesn't sound like an animal all the time, and it has a light on top of it or something. The hatch leading into the ground also points to a man made (or at least tampered with) structure, as well as the cord that Sayid followed to Danielle's hideout, and the fact that other mechanical things near the island (like the plane, Danielle's ship, Locke's compass) malfunction. Speaking of that cord, one end lead into the ocean. I REALLY want them to come back to that and see if it goes anywhere interesting. (Danielle's ship, maybe?)

(Danielle's ship, maybe?) yeah see, when I first saw that part, I was more interested in where it lead to into the ocean than on the island. I mean, what's it connected to!

Danielle was probably using it in some fashion to create electricity in her "home". Hydro power and all. 3nodding

Like Erfaewen, I was more interested about the end in the water when I first saw it. I was half-expecting Sayid to go diving into the ocean....

I think that Sayid should just go back and see where the cord goes. I mean, if they are so desperate to get off the island, that's their best bet, no?

I think the cord's just giving electric power, like tyo said. 3nodding

MeriThranduiliell I think the cord's just giving electric power, like tyo said. 3nodding Yes, but it might lead to something that could tell them where they are, how far they are from land, or even to a ship or main land. ;D

Okay, this is what I posted in the "death bets" thread, but I figured it belonged here. sweatdrop Like I said there, I'm in the "purgatory boat".
It seems like all the characters have to overcome something, and besides a few cuts and downplayed withdrawal, none have been hurt, let alone killed. I'm thinking that they'll be able to leave the island once they overcome what they've been having problems with (ie, maybe Charlie has to get over the drugs and forgive his brother; maybe Boone and Shannon need to appreciate each other; maybe Jack has to do something worthwhile with his medicine skills; maybe Sayid has to find a way to rescue them, rather than hurting people). I'm thinking that Locke and Walt both play a part in this, since Walt obviously has the ability to kill things (maybe he can also create them? He did bring in the polar bear...) and Locke is either holding them back (which is what I'm thinking) or allowing them to reach their individual goals to get off the island.
