Ai steps between them, touching ech in turn with a calming touch. "Bez he means well, listen to him before you blow your stack... and Kero, remember that he is her father and I know his shields... you should not have gotten through. That you have shows a weakness somewhere, a weakness we cannot afford. Perhaps that is how you managed to pluck me up so easily this morning..."
Bez snorts softly through his nose and plops in a chair. "My head feels like an over ripe melon. Forgive me... I'm not used to having someone manipulate my shields as if they are non-existent entities."

Listen. We don't have time to discuss how my feelers got through, though I have a feeling I know how. *Repeats what he had told Tam to Bez* Now, what say you?

"I can train her psi-talent, but that's about it." says Bez quietly. "It is pretty much all I know... that and how to hunt or fight. If you can keep her from going mad, I'll do my best to handle the rest."

I..I would have to train her there as well, Bez. The mingling of the magics could possibly be dangerous to you, and that's not even mentioning the identities.

"Explain..." demands Bez quietly. "How can my teaching her about her psi-talents interfere with you teaching her about her sight. Shouldn't they support each other instead. My skills are not magic, per se... but an ability of the mind, much as Pasura's are. As Ari's seem to be as well. "

I think that the problem will come from the fact that her old magic is bound in her memories. In order to prevent them damaging things as they meld, I will have to supervise almost every aspect of the melding.

"And you are saying that the natural wall between her past life and her present one has been breached? I'd give anything to know how that happened." mutters Bez rubbing his face in his hands.
"I know..." comes a voice from the doorway.
With a virulent oath Bez spins in his chair and groans. "I thought I told you three to stay in the room with Em."
Pasura sighs and walks further into the room. "I convinced him I needed to speak with you. Shall I continue?" The small black serpent boy looks grim and tired.
Ai urges him to a chair and gives him a small hug. "Of course you can. Perhaps you know something we adults don't, hmmmm?"
Pasa nods his thanks and studies his fingertips before speaking. "When she jumped Mara was holding onto her still, so Mara was brought with. It wasn't intentional... and she appeared farther up the tree than she wanted. The tree was barely strong enough up there to hold her, much less the two of them. She was frightened silly... Mara was slipping and she couldn't let go to help her or they would both fall. Fortunately for them both that Mara is as strong as she is... You should see the bruises that are slowly coming to the sruface on Ari's arms. I know not about past lives, though old souled individuals do appear from time to time amongst my people... but such a primal fear... that she was about to lose one very dear to her and knowing it very well might be her fault..."
"Of course!" cries Bez jumping to his feet. "I must go to her. Accidents happens. We all know that, but that sort of knowledge can cause one of us to turn inwards, to the point of madness."
Ai watches him run from the room with a thin smile. "Makes you wonder, doesn't it? How he managed to survive when I fell so long ago? I suspect my swedh faced a period of madness of his own... alone and bereft... and I was incapable of helping him. I would love to know how he conquered it or if he ever truly did. Not all madness is obvious, but the fear of it is eternal."
Turning to Kero he sighs. "Kero, I know you mean well. Bur rather than awaken her talents now, is there any way to suppress them? For her sake. That wall was never truly meant to be breached. I am certain of it. As much as I love each of your incarnations, I don't know if it is a good thing for two of her to be walking around in that body."

*Kero sighs*
To my knowledge, no. Yes, theoretically, with an immense amount of energy, one could temporarily patch that breach. But it would only be temporary. The only other way for me to do it would be to erase them completely. Destroy them.

"Filter it then... can... can we arrange that she does remember things but during her sleep, as though in a dream. That way we can control the rate with which it comes forth, dulling the edges of the bad putting a veil over the good. They are not Ari's memories, no matter the source. She's grown up under different circumstances. Don't get me wrong. I loved my sister dearly, as did both of you, but Ari deserves to be Ari... not a little Shia clone. They won't seem so real and immediate then."

Emnast sighs heavily. "As much as I would love to hold her in my arms once more, Ai is right. Ari is not Shia. You... you have not been around her as much as I have, watching her learn and grow. She's different... and yet the same. I can't explain it. If you can filter the memories so they resemble dreams rather than fact, I agree. As for her skills and abilities. There has to be a way to ease her into those as well. How does one teach a precocious talent? What safeguards do we place on them to keep them safe?"

I'll do my best. I can turn the memories to dream, but...remember that we are in virtually uncharted magic here. This kind of thing NEVER happens outside of Voidmagic.

Pasura shakes his head. "No... maybe not in magic, but it can happen in the psychic realm. Remember that's not magic. It's like walking... a skill. It's just that some are more capable than others. Perhaps before you do anything you should talk to Bez. It is his field as well, you know, and like you he is a master in it."

Ai nods. "In truth, I think it can be done, if approached from the right angle. But although I, too, work in the realm of the mind, memory is not my area of expertise. The mind is Bez's and Pasura's territory."
