I count myself lucky enough to even have extra clothes at this point, considering when my birth parents' sailboat went down in that storm recently... my adoptive brother and I were lucky to get off before we ended up drowning. Heck, we found out a couple of days after that a rogue wave that slammed us onto shore fractured his femur... which he didn't know until he actually broke it, the baka. My mother... well... right now, anyway... made sure he got to the hospital and... well... she took me in, despite not really having to, Mairi said softly, her voice low. It didn't help that the oar slapped me hard in the face a couple of times, she said softly, shivering slightly as her fingers brushed the bandage over her eye.
