 [Silverstar's eyes flared open at the sound of pawsteps. She felt refreshed, and her eyes warmed at the sight of her mate. Her eyes then clouded with sadness as she realized her mate had...the Madness. She quickly decided her strategy.
She weaved out behing him, his eyes darting clumsily. She was far more agile than he, and she eventually burst from her den and bounded backwards into the clearing, her eyes locked with Icefire's.]
"Someone! Help! Firestorm! Thunderpaw! Anyone!"
[Silverstar's yowl rang throughout the forest. All I have to do is keep him occupied until help comes... I hope. All of a sudden, Icefire leapt.]

 H a w k p a w“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.”___________________________Hawkpaw skidded to a halt and swung his head around to see his mentor a few tail-lengths away from him. He blinked, panting.
She's fast, as always.
He bunched his muscles and darted for her again. Although, this time, he veered sharply to the side and swung his sheathed paw towards her muzzle, in hopes of slugging her like he'd seen some warriors do before.

[Icefire leapt at the she-cat. She swerved to aviod him, and he skidded to a halt in front of a den with milk scent wafting through it. He sniffed and realized easier prey would come from in there. He turned to stalk into the den when the she-cat pounced on him.
Icefire struggled, then lashed out a claw. He wriggled, his powerful muscles rippling. A voice from inside his head whispered, Go ahead, kill her! You will be better off without her! Icefire's eyes flared with satisfaction at this voice and lunged for her throat. She dodged, though she was knocked off balance. Icefire leapt on to of her before she could move.]

  [Silverstar pounced on Icefire before he could get into the nursery.]
"Attack those kits, you'll be fresk-kill!"
[She snarled. Then she realized how true her words were. She would have to kill him, no matter how much she loved him. She couldn't leave her Clan in danger.
The next thing she knew, she was underneath Icefire. As he lunged once again for her throat, she hurled him off with hjer hind legs. He was sprawled across the clearing, where she had an opportunity to leap on top of him. She set her claws to his throat.]
"StarClan, no!"
[Silverstar's wail was heard throughout the forest. She blinked once, with sorrow, and before Icefire could attempt to retaliate, she sunk her claws into his throat. She felt his body go limp, his body grow cold. She stepped off of him and licked him tenderly on the head.]
"May StarClan go with you, dear Icefire. I will remember you always."
[Silverstar was about to lick his wounds clean when she realized his blood was infected. She ran into the medicine den and grabbed some moss and soaked it in the pool of water. She carried it our gingerly and pressed it to his wounds, clearing the blood. Once he was clean, she licked his fur down and pressed her nose into his fur, tears streaming down her majestic face.]

 Hearing SilverStars yowl. FireStorm raced into her den, only to find IceFire dead, with SilverStar next to him. "SilverStar... I... I'm Sorry." he said. Seeing Icefire's body reminded him of many things, which he would never speak of.

 IceStorm didnt move this time. Right before her apprentices claws could reach her muzzle she jumped. She landed a few feet away, once more. "Listen carefully to what i say." She told her apprentice.

H a w k p a w“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.”___________________________ Hawkpaw stopped, practiaclly tripping over his own paws as he whipped around and tilted his head. He flicked his ears, showing that he'd heard Icestorm and she had his full attention.

[Brightspirit leaped up as she heard Silverstar's yowl of grief]
"Icefire..no..oh no..not Icefire.."
[She peered more closely at him]
"The Madness..?"
[Riverfang padded towards Silverstar]
"Oh Silverstar..I'm sorry...I remember when Icefire was just an apprentice...those were good times..."
[He stayed silent after that, taking in the horrer of what had happened]

[At Silverstar's sudden yowl for help, I scrambled. The pigeon bones pricked one of my paws, and blood began to flow. Cursing, I limped forward, but my paw was on fire. I hurried as fast as I could to her den.
When I saw the body on the floor, my heart stopped.]
Approaching cautiously, I whispered, "Icefire..?"
[The tom's body twitched, foam dripping from his open mouth.
My eyes widened.] "No." I whispered. "No...no no no no no nononononono!"
[I imagined Hawkpaw in the same position, blood flowing from his throat that I had ripped out, to stop him from involuntarily killing me.
I cried out.
I could never fathom what that would be like. And as I turned to Silverstar, I saw the damage taking its toll. Her eyes were dull and lifeless, and her fur was ruffled and messy, as if it was too tired to stand sraight. She stood there staring like a lost kitten, struck with grief.
I shuddered.]
"Silverstar," I choked, but I couldn't say any more.
[Tears flowed from my eyes. I limped towards her and rubbed her as comfortingly as I could. She didn't respond.]
"I'm sorry...so sorry..." I whispered.
[I never wanted to know that grief of killing somone you loved. But being next to Silverstar, I could feel the horror seeping from her like a river.
I looked up and stared into her light emerald eyes. I couldn't speak, the words evaporating on my toungue. Instead I stared into those beautiful eyes, trying to tell her that I understood. That I wish I had come sooner.
That I was there for her.]

[Silverstar stood, her devastation making her numb. Her eyes stared deeply into Thunderpaw's, and she wished she could explain it to her apprentice.]
"It was a snap decision. Whether to spare my mate or spare my Clan. My Clan is more important to me than StarClan itself."
[Silverstar said monotonously. She stood and nuzzled Icefire's fur once more, pain overcoming her. But she realized the bast thing to do was to get on with her life. She remembered the tale of how her great grandmother Bluestar lived her last life after realizing what her deputy, Tigerclaw, actually was. She strode away from Icefire's cold body and touched her tail tip to Thunderpaw's shoulder, acknowledging that she knew that her apprentice would be there for her. She licked Thunderpaw's head, feeling the bond between them grow stronger than it already was. She stepped back, a took a deep breath.]
"Firestorm, take some cats and go on a hunting patrol. We must replenish the fresh-kill pile."
[She knew her eyes gave away her true devastation even though she tried her hardest to still be the greatest leader for her Clan. She sighed again and padded over to the pitifully small fresh-kill pile, for newleaf. She grabbed a vole for herself and nudged a plump mouse toward Thunderpaw, trying to get a grip on what happened.]

[I followed Silverstar out silently, limping slightly. Shaking my head, I nudged the mouse back towards her. My eyes gleamed.]
"No thanks, Silverstar, I'm not hungry," I murmured.
[I stared at her, worry filling my eyes.]
"I don't criticize your decisin at all- in fact, I admire you all the more for it."
[I hesitated.]
Letting out a soft sigh, I said, "...But there are some things you can't ignore. You...just killed your mate, Silverstar. Holding that in could take a hard toll on your mind."
[I tilted my head, blinking affectionately.]
"Well, I guess I mean that...it's okay. To...to cry sometimes. Maybe not now, maybe not in front of others. But...if you ever cried in front of me, Sivlerstar, I would never think of you as weak. I see you as a strong leader, and that's how I'll always see you. So...it's alright. You're allowed to grieve, for Starclan's sake!"
[My tail swished around anxiously. I licked her paw gently, trying to be supportive.]
I said quickly, "I'm not trying to, ah, mother you. You're more of a mother to me than the other way around. But I...I just want to comfort you."
[I stared deep into her eyes agian unflinchingly.]
"It's going to be okay. We'll find a way out of this."
[I looked into her eyes.]
"I'll lend you some of my strength if you need it. I know we'll be alright."

(sorry it took me so long. i finished my essay though. ^.^)
IceStorm looked at her apprentice. "Hawkpaw, when fighting you must think very carefully. You msut think of what your going to do next and fast. You will also have to think of the outcomes of what might happen." IceStorm said. The sun had now fully risen and its rays striked down on IceStorm's fur and face. "Do you understand what i am trying to say?"

SilverStar had just killed her mate. FireStorm was surprised at first but he understood. "SilverStar, its ok to be afraid sometimes." he said comfortingly. "Your a great leader. Dont let the past hold you down though. He will always be there for you, no matter what." He put his paw against SilverStar's pounding heart. "In here. He will always be there." He removed his paw. "When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life you have a thousand reasons to smile." FireStorm said.

He tried to memorize her words, burn them into his mind for years to come. Every moment he spent with Icestorm brought him closer to becoming a warrior, and the very thought of it made the young tom's whiskers twitch with excitement.
He flexed his claws as he went over Icestorm's words. Well, in order for him to test it out, he'd like to have her attack him for a change...

(Thnx! ^.^ well hawkpaw should either say "Yes i understand." or he should say. "Im sorry. I dont understand. could you explain it for me?" Then IceStorm would either explain it or move on. Hawkpaw has to say something before IceStorm can move on or explain.)
