"If my healing supplies could be used to kill, I would not like to know the way." she responded, looking extremely uncomfortable with the idea. Though it seemed like it wouldn't be an issue after all, for the Scorpion had hardly even stepped out the door before he was coming right back in with an ominous looking note-on-arrow. She gave him a confused look at the comment and waited for the note to either be handed off or read aloud.

The Scorpion would read the letter aloud for the benefit of the two other samurai present and would hand it off if one wanted to inspect it for his or her self. As for his own part, Kojiro was quite sure that they should just slaughter the whole tainted bunch.

Kagae hearing the note and noticing it came with an arrow stopped what he was doing and walked over to the arrow hole with one of Kojiro's arrows in hand. He used the shaft to find out how deep the hole was and then angle. Then placing his head parallel with the hole he looked at the direction it came from and tried to line up where it may of came from.
"Ignore what the note says, we go armed."
Kagae would stop his mental calculation of the arrow flight muttering, "Too many variables not enough known constants."

The hole was by the door into the temple, which faced westward. It looks like it had a bit of a downward angle to it, meaning it was probably fired a good distance away and had begun to descend. You'd imagine at least a hundred feet?
As for where it could have been fired from, you look out into the ruined city. A whole lot of barren cityscape awaits you, some parts still standing, other parts fallen in on themselves. Who knows. The person could be there right now, simply hiding, or they could have legged it immediately. There's no way you could find them now.

Returning back into the inside he discarded the arrow he was holding and sat down.
"First things first. We are not complying with that damned letter in most of its demands. Now what do we know about these people?"
Now he had the information Kagae thought for a moment to see if he could remember anything from his studies.

Masuyo could only stand in surprise as the others began their assessments. Her mind was turning in a slightly different direction. Though she had to admit she agreed with the Crab, this was also too good an opportunity to pass up. Still, there was a way to get the best of both options.
"Allow me to go." she stated suddenly. "If we approach them armed they will simply attack, but I am more dangerous without a sword anyway. If it is not a trap I might be able to speak with this man and find our companions. You two can remain nearby in case it is, as I imagine these 'servants' will be doing the same, so he would have no cause for protest. We can be smart about how we prepare and wait, but we do not have to ignore the demands to achieve our goal."

@ Kagae's roll: You think about what you know of the Lost in this scenario, and the best you got is that they are more or less "samurai of the Shadowlands". Odd that you have one on this side of the wall. You haven't the foggiest idea how he got here.
@ Kojiro's roll: You don't recognize the name Matsusuke from any recent battles. Lots of Matsu's, lots of *suke's, but no Matsusuke.

Kagae would look a bit astonished at Masuyo before a moment before he begun a rant, "Not trying to be offensive Masuyo-san but are you stupid? They are asking us to come unarmed but not only that you are ignoring what the letter is demanding. It is asking us to all come. You as in plural not singular. Then to meet them at the gates where their people will be there but not even this Matsusuke will be there right away."Pulling out his map he would point at the gate they were being asked to meet at, "Not only that it is an obvious chance for them to ambush us if we comply but even if one of us went alone it'd be their chance to grab a hostage for leverage over us. Assuming that the hare and scorpion lady disappearances weren't their doing but since it isn't mentioned on the letter it is somewhat of a mystery. So here is the plan we'll take the prisoner I captured last night, we will go armed and offer the prisoner as a sign of good will just to see if we can draw him out. Now not to point fingers but Kojiro-san here killed the other prisoner last night, would of been useful to have another bargaining chip but whatever. Masuyo-san he has done nothing wrong and if you persecute him on this I will treat you as siding with enemies of the empire, is that clear?"

One hand raised in protest. She really shouldn't have expected a Kaiu to understand the various subtleties of diplomacy. Even she didn't really know them all. She did know enough, though. Enough to see that this was going to be a grand disaster. She might have even tried to explain as much, but he then decided to point out a little detail that she had been hoping very much all morning was not true. She looked back sorrowfully at the poor lost soul and uttered a prayer, then cast a strong glare at the pair of them. What was she to do? Knock them both out and drag them around while she saved the day herself? That would be one for the scrolls. If only...
"Do what you will. You would accept my help and give nothing but insults and threats in return? Perhaps the kami will aid you on their own, because I will not ask them to."
She shouldered her pack and brushed past them as coldly as she could muster given her current emotional state. She would head for the gate. Even though she knew they would be close behind, she still couldn't bring herself to abandon the other two.

Kojiro pressed his hand against his forehead. The words weren't coming easily, but hopefully he could make a coherent argument out of them. "Think for a second. There are at least three shadowlands tainted abominations here. Four if you want to count the kansen in the castle. Five if you count the nephew. We know they do not have Shosuro-san nor Ujina-san. The uncle provided us with that much information. You also know that our mission is to avenge the murder of Asako Shisui-sama. How well do you think it would go over if we said 'If all of you who were involved in Asako-sama's murder would please line up so we can execute you according to Imperial Law and then we'll be on our way.'" ?
The Scorpion paused for a second. "I'm sure Shosuro-san would be touched that she made such an impact on you so quickly and I appreciate how much you're willing to go through for her, but we need to think about this more than we apparently have. We have a duty to fulfill and Shosuro-san comes second to that. "
Raising a hand to forestall comment, the Bayushi continued onwards. "Please, do not think this doesn't mean I don't care about Miya-chan. I am the one who is most likely going to have to explain what happened to her to Kuni-sama and then to her father. I would say I have the most interest in seeing that she is found. We just have to ask ourselves, how does giving those who would do Shosuro-san harm a chance to stop us aid in retrieving her?"

The little Dragon stopped in her retreat, but was unable to bring herself to turn and face them.
"I don't care what your mission is. The trials of men are lost in the waves of potential for each life they waste in pursuit of blind duty." she responded from over her shoulder. Ah, but the words of a Scorpion were as sweet as they were deadly, and she couldn't help but soften her tone and glance back at him with pity, "I already said, do what you will. I won't stop you."
And with that her retreat continued.

Something about what Kojiro said was bothering her. In hindsight, she realized she wasn't actually trained in detecting the Shadowlands taint, but she had examined that boy rather closely. Perhaps an educated guess...
