I originally played the alto. Then our districtwide concert band started having too many altos and we were in need of other instruments so I played the bari. I loved playing the bari. I never really even needed to audition because I was always one of the only bari players. It rules having no competition.
But what I really want to play is a soprano. It matches my loud personality. xDD

There is something thats been bugging me. Why do people cringe when they hear Mark 7 (tenor). I played my schools for two years, and i loved it. Then this year i talk to my new band director and he says, that they were trash eek Is there something that i am missing? I mean, i know it wasnt anywhere near a 6, but still, its not trash.

The Mark VII is a much heavier horn than the VI and has a bigger bore. It tends to have a Heavy inconsistant bottom end and a super "whiny" high end(notes i mean).

Resticked. Yay i can talk in this thread now. I started playing well. Today >< i got a tenor for christmas and i accualy understand the fingerings. I have a question tho. All the fingerings for each sax is the same but is it the same note?

Scheissenkopf Resticked. Yay i can talk in this thread now. I started playing well. Today >< i got a tenor for christmas and i accualy understand the fingerings. I have a question tho. All the fingerings for each sax is the same but is it the same note? Yes they all have the same fingerings wioth the occasional extra F# key. You read the notes the same but some instruments are in different keys. Alto and Baritone are in Eb Tenor and soprano are in Bb

I play and own alto and tenors, although I am a clarinetist. I have YAS-875 alto, and a Yanagisawa T-901 tenor. I can give lots of advise on reeds, maintenace, technique, and I'm good at sax, lol... Just had to through a pun in there n_n SAX POWER!
