Hmm, I suppose you could say there are roughly 3 different kinds of vampires to discuss.
Real World vampires, which of course are the people who can die just like anyone else, but have a taste for blood or drain people of energy.
Classical Vampires that have the superhuman strength, and vulnerabilities to sunlight, garlic, cast no reflection, ect ect,
and World of Darkness vampires which are a bit more unusual in the fact there are so many different variants.
Some vampire series that would fall under classical vampires would most likely be Ann Rice novels, Vampire Hunter D, and Blade to name a few. Of course in classical vampires sometimes one or two traits are slightly different from classic mythos, but overall things follow a certain set guidline.

Well, according to lurichan's post, I am a Real World vampire. Yes. I absolutely love the taste of . I mean, if I have a cut, I'll wipe my finger on it and suck. Yuuuuuuum. And as for energy, that's true of me too. When my mom and I go out, by the end she's like "Augh, urgh, blrubrlehlee....." and stuff. Ha, yeah. And same with my friends. I'll be hyper at the end of swim practice and my friends are tired-drunk if they were in the same lane. "sheezLisa, howthefurk dja stayurpliketha...?" If you're wondering what they said, "Jeez, Lisa, how the furk d'ya stay up like that?"

It's best to learn and try to understand the difference between the myths, misconceptions, stigmas, and bullshit attach to the term "Vampire/Vampyre" and the actual truth of Real Vampires and Vampirism. It is also very important to know and understand the fact that you can not become a "Vampire," (dispite what you might have been told) simply because it is something you are born with, an inability to maintain and sustain your pranic energy... that is all, it is a spiritual belief not something you can "convert" to though. I've studied this area of the occult for many, many years and have learned to take everything with a grain of salt in regards to information in general (not just with Vampirism and Otherkin). Please read the following quote for further information on what I am talking about, it was taken from another guild I am in. It will explain my views and the like on Vampirism and Therianthropy.Lady_Threnody The interesting part about this is the fact that Lycanthropy (the medical term) does exist. If you were to look into Genesis World Records you'll come across stories of people who have this condition. Their bodies are literally covered with excessive hair all over, from head to toe. The only difference is, they are not willingly doing so. Thus the misconceptions and bullshit attached to the term Lycanthropy, a stigma if you will.
In any sense, Lycan/Lycanthropy is often known as a durrogatory term for Theranthropes because it is literally suggesting that these individuals are sick. When in reality Therianthropy is more of a spiritually belief that often entertwins with Shamanism and Totem Spirits.
I believe that the term Lycan/Lycanthropy will not replace Therianthropy. Mainly because there are two distinctly different meanings to each term. Those who educate themselves of such terminologies and learn where they came from know their differences and everything that comes with those terms.
The term Otherkin is a general term that refers to people who believe their spirits/souls are not human so it does not pertain to only Therians, Dragonkin, Faes, etc. and not Vampires... on the contrary it pertains to all kins that believe their souls/spirits are other than human.
Also, the term Vampire is also durrogatory in the sense that there are many stereotypes, misconceptions, and bullshit that continues to surround the term just like the other terms we've spoken of. As well as the fact that Vampirism is also a medical term to describe people with various other medical conditions; Anaemia, Catalepsy, and Porphyria, etc.
You see, Vampire is often refered to the fictional characters often described in novels written by Anne Rice. When you think about it Vampires do NOT exist. However, the medical vampires do and those of us who need pranic energy have adapted to the term Vampire within our own communities because it is a term that many have accepted, that in which is the closest term to describe what we are. I however, do not accept that term because it is as if calling me sick. Thus the reason why I perfer to be known as an Energy Feeder and not a Vampire.
The above can be found here: Vampires and Therians Unite: Lycans Vs Therians/terminology
As far as the types of "Vampires" goes, it varies. Especially since the terms themselves have various definitions according to each individual. If you'd like to get technical there are more than just three types, here are my definitions for each one: Psi/Psychic - About 80% of the community consists of Psi/Psychic Vampires/Energy Feeders. Using various ways of feeding including those listed below.
Sanguine - A way of getting a raw (perse) source of energy by directly drinking the blood of a Donor. It is not the blood that is needed, it is the energy within the blood that they need (well, part of it... as always there is more to it depending on who you talk to and what you believe in) and drinking the blood of a Donor is a quick way of getting it. Often mistaken for a blood fetish but can also be entertwined.
Elemental - Feeding from the elements in various ways.
Sexual - Those that feed from sexual energies not only while having sexual intercorse but by flirtation etc.
Astral/Incorporeal - Those that feed in the astral realm/plane and/or feed from spiritual energy.
Emotional - Feeding from the emotions of others.

Aah, it feels so good being able to be me without being judged. I like te taste of my own blood. I've tasted it and for some reason, I think it tastes kind of like salt only better. One thing that I want to know is what someone else's blood would taste like. ninja

i'm not all that morbid myself, though i do have a personal vendetta against the majority of the human race, and i laugh pretty hard if some jackass gets hit by a car...and i find horror movies hilarious, except the ones that are as disturbing as my own little mind.

lurichan Shadow_of_hate uh... advirsian to sunlight, taste for blood, extream paleness, almost no bady heat, and sharp canine teath Is that all? *Shakes my head* man, people just jump to conclusions now a days. Have you ever actually fed on someone? Cause if not...then they should come hunt me instead. ^_~ are you saying that you are a vampire or that you have just drank other peoples blood? because if its the latter then they should come hunt me instead, after all I need some good training with my martial arts twisted

i'm not exactly proud to be what i am, but i do accept my 'symptoms'. at this point in time i am doubting quite a bit much of the time, but my symptoms include
predominately nocturnal sleep clock problems with energy despite a moderately healthy diet bloodlust light sensitivity(which my optometrist can find no medical explaination for) the ability to skim off the excess energies of others, feed from heat energy, electromagnetic fields, etc. sense strong emotions, as well as feed from them(they're almost palpable to me) problems regulating body temperature(i prefer to be a little cold, because my body heat stays mostly comfortable that way) occasional bursts of strength ability to see energy fields i burn quite easily in sunlight(typically within a half hour i burn at least to a pinkish color unless there is alot of wind) and tend to grow quite drained. I have fed from blood on a couple occasions, and it seems to help regulate most of my energy for a week or so at a time by about a half mouthful of blood, but energy is more readily available, and a friend of mine has a rather large energy output.
in addition to what may or may not be vampirism, i am a draconic therian, and my astral body has some strange damage, which another draconic friend of mine has helped me out with a little. i seem to have a damaged "power source" as she refers to it, as well as a grey shard of something stuck in the base of my throat.

DR490N in addition to what may or may not be vampirism, i am a draconic therian, and my astral body has some strange damage, which another draconic friend of mine has helped me out with a little. i seem to have a damaged "power source" as she refers to it That may be a reference to one of the theories on 'true' vampirism, some people have suggested that something has caused a vampire's soul to be unable to retain or generate enough 'energy' needed and so a vampire needs to take from others what it lacks (if that didn't make sense then just give me a yell, also, I'm not saying that this is proof of vampirism, the thought just struck me *just disclaiming away things, nothing against ya hun*) DR490N as well as a grey shard of something stuck in the base of my throat. This is very interesting, I've never heard of anything like this. My main theory is that there may also be a problem or imbalance with your fifth, or, throat chakra. I'm unsure if the "grey shard" has anything to do with chakras as I have no experience in the astral plane. I would reccomed chakra balancing, even if the grey shard has no relevence to your chakra balancing's always a good idea. Try balancing then perhaps ask your friend to check if anything has changed in your astral self afterward.
