I'm not going to flame you because you're a lovely person Kat but I disagree. I am a Christian and while I do not go to Mass, I still believe in God. It comforts me to know that when people from my family die, they go on to another life. For atheists such as yourselves, the belief is that when people die, they just die and never live again-I believe that I will see all my departed friends and family when I die and all my life, I have never felt alone-I always feel as if there is a prescence with me-not a malignant prescence but simply a prescence. I could also debate Christianity for hours but I'm afraid I'd be on the opposing side to you and Kana.

nothing wrong with that. on my friends messageboard we constantly debate about it with two extremely religious Americans.
Religion is a nice thing if it makes you feel strong and gives you comfort. If it does that it's wonderful...but it also has been the number one cause of war and hurt..and for that..I dislike it.
I don't really have anything wrong with christianity...I just don't believe in it...and I don't believe in an afterlife...but..what I do have alot against....is Catholicism...the head of it..the Church, with a capital C, created it just for power...purely just for power...it degrades women...it ignored passages that were written for the bible because it didn't suit them...it argues with others because "our religion is more right then yours so we're going to kill you"...and..yeah maybe we need a debate thread sweatdrop

Catholicism! scream I really dont want to get all riled up, but I am a strong Christian. I also read a lot of history. There's so much I could say on such a subject I've studied so much, but I'll just say this: Americans left Europe in the first place, and built their constition to protect against the Church becoming political. The old Catholic Church was so political it ran peoples lives and, in many cases, ended their lives. We founded a constition that would protect us from a supreme leader (like the pope). 500 years ago, a king(the equivalent of the president) made himself a judge and started his own church in which he was pope. The real pope didn't like this at all. Battles raged, people died, oh and did I mention he killed anyone in the country that he suspected did not agree with him, right down to pregnant women and small children. Religion is so dangerous in the wrong hands.
I'm really glad that you guys aren't Christian-Bashers. I'm a fundamentalist Christian, which means I dont twist what's in the bible around to suit my needs. I'm really not that bad to talk to about it if you want to. It's a topic I study alot because it's so complicated. I would love to hear more of other people's thoughts on these subjects if you'd like to talk.
