Before Kenshin could even respond that Kojiro should be ashamed of himself for disgracing the APD he stopped for a moment. He remembered Toso's use of tentacles after years of knowing him. "Hmph." A disappointed and angry sigh left his lips as he turned his head to the vendor again. "Go to the bunker right now!" Kenshin yelled in compounded frustration as he stored his copy of the issued citation. Before Kenshin could even return the lewd magazine and get Kojiro's money back he knew that since it was a Kage-given mission that it needed to be completed. His sense of duty was overwhelming even in humiliating moments such as these. When the shopkeep ran off toward the emergency area with his ticket Kenshin looked at Kojiro again. "Go on, do your duty. We're going to the Spire." Kenshin turned around and walked toward the center of the village. He would accompany Kojiro there to finish his mission but he was still deeply ashamed that the Arashikage would send his student to purchase such filth for him under the guise of a mission.

Nuibari Attributes • Infinite Needles | While Nuibari functions perfectly fine as a long, thin blade that sits between a Jian and a Foil. It's comprised of infinite, instantly replenishing needles. If an opponent is stabbed, the blade will leave several needles inside of the opponent. It also never runs out of string either, with one at the base of the weapon, and one attached to each needle. Similarly, unhindered, the weapon always comes back when thrown for the techniques below, and can be pulled to the user free of activation via its wire so long as the nigh-invisible string is not cut. • Thread the Needle | This skill increases the speed of the wielder moderately while Nuibari is wielded.

The vendor spoke no more words, but his expression said it all as he ran with tail tucked between his legs back to the bunker. Kojiro laughed awkwardly, taking the literature in hand and moving quickly to the spire with Kenshin in tow. ________________________________________________________ [ [X] Que Timely Theme Song]
Unki's arms were very much occupied with items of regret; her vest folded over one arm and a fishbowl on top of it. The altitude changes were making her long to stop and put the vest back on, for some extra hope of warmth, but Unki was busy being hell bent determined to avoid any further delay. But delays still had their ways of getting across to mess things up. She made a very unhappy trip back to the market district to speak with someone about scrollery and cooking ingredients. On a light note, Unki would be happy to report she still had no plans to actually pan-fry the shrimp and feed it to anyone. Just as a cook, Unki would prefer having the resources to make things in any environment.
At the first shop and first stop Unki made a teary inquiry about needing to secure a "dumb ol' demon shrimp" and the uneasy employee minding the desk made the suggestion of a less than ordinary scroll. Unki accepted with little hope that it would work but any scrolls deemed less than ordinary weren't bad to have around. She was also certain to pick up the second atlas she had been needing. At the second stop, it was an armory ran by a distractingly cute young man. She almost couldn't get the words out to request a war fan. She had to get out of that store quick and hurry on to grab the rest of her wanted goodies.

Pi Qua - Rank: A :: Training Description: By repeating the transition between the Pi and Qua techniques repeatedly, the user becomes able to perform them quickly enough that starting with one and transitioning into the other only consumes one action for the post, and also cannot be interrupted if the first hits. Pi Qua Quan - Rank: S :: Training Description: After learning all other techniques in this Style, the practitioner runs through them all again, stringing them together in the longest combo they can. Being carried was such a sweet little treat and precisely so after a lengthy exercise. The best part was taking in the memory; being carried and remembering such was a pleasantry somewhat taken for granted which entirely out weighs the horrendous odds of suddenly blacking out and not remembering much of anything. The butterflies of being with her actual Shiro again were beginning to exhaust and retire to familiar feelings. Like nothing changed. Feelings like he had always been there or partial disbelief he was actually there. Even him taking her hand into his own was, somewhat, otherworldly and made things easy to forget like the fact that the Hidden Storm was currently many many many feet into the air.
So came the third warning of a large scale battle. Her brows furrowed a little as he spoke about what Mr. Trefles and Homura mentioned as they cut ties with the Hidden Storm. If this information got as far as Shiro than this issue must be more widespread than she anticipated. Only a small handful of events Unki managed to witness could barely connect the dots to who, how, and why. Withal said and done, she knew, that all the information should fall into place in some shape or another. With preparations or not Unki wasn't feeling completely well with the thought of all of this happened but who was? It wasn't easy to imagine anyone actually looking forward to a threat waning up to the Empire's doorstep but someone has to make an answer before the threat comes knocking. Less knocking on doors and more knocking down towns and innocent villages.
At times during the relay of his "report" Unki nods, slowly, and her facial queues still showing her more concerned side on the matter. The word "elites" whipped up a flicker of a frown on her face that came and went and his proposal to follow him into war had her tongue tied with thought. When she did reply, Unki angled her head toward him a little and held her sights at the street. Her voice was low enough to share solely with him. "They sort of kept me out of the loop of things. Well- in truth- i'm never around to be posted on whose on the prowl. I'm not surprised to see you anymore and should've expected nothing less of you to want to take this head on." She masks a sigh within her modest smile. The question wasn't answered yet. Someone has to look after things. And I would. I would follow you." Her sights set on him for a moment before taring away back to their path. "I want to. I really want to. But who'll handle everythi-" She stopped talking realizing something about what she was saying was amiss. Her mouth gaped open before snapping it shut. Her tone changed. Her volume dropped. When Unki spoke again she casually brought their walk to a stop. She sounded much more firm and short of pressing Shiro for an answer.
"Who is watching the house?" The house: the easy, far more modest sounding term to describe their home and often the affairs along within them. A vague term was useful to avoid concerning the wrong set of ears. "I know you've figured that one out. Let's say I can go if I know, yeah? " Coincidentally, while in wait for his reply, Unki had managed to stop the pair (herself, at the very least) outside of the weapons shop she had paid a visit to prior. One of her small brows attempted to arch a tad in the abrupt change of thought. I need to go in there. Her arms were needing some last minute... arms.

His flashy exit seem to came without warning despite his meeting direction. Shiro left Unki with a fluttering, weightless feeling lifting in her chest and plainly taking her breath away. Such in-depth preparation of that caliber was nearly perfect. On that breathless note where she was so caught up in the dreamy love-affair it was then when she skipped into the shop and spent the time necessary to procure a new pair of shiny gauntlets and a second fan. Not even the handsome, shirtless owner could distract her even as Unki went on her way to the gates. Daisuke stepped away from his counter as the officer from the APD entered his shop. The man looked at the paperwork and signed it without issue. "It doesn't feel right to chase down those kids. They're just trying to get by." He said as he filled out his name and handed back the folder. Daisuke went back to his job and Kaito had what he needed. The moment he would turn around to leave, however, a familiar masked vigilante was waiting for him.
"You're not even the slightest bit subtle, are you?" Avalanche said with their arms folded in front of them. There was a clear annoyance which radiated from the individual despite there not being any apparent reason why. "This was my break in the case, alright? The APD had their chance to solve it, but now I will. So just go on home and drink some milk will you?" They said sharply. The fact that it was his tournament opponent out of all of the possible people being sent by the Arashi Police when they failed to do anything about this injustice beforehand felt like a slap in the face, as they wanted to like this boy.
"Thank you. I personally don't want to see the book thrown at them myself; my personal goal here is to just get the merchandise returned, maybe a slap on the wrist like some community service. They didn't seem like bad kids, but you have to understand that I'm just doing my... job." Kaito turned to see Avalanche.
"Subtle? Like I said, the APD is open about their investigations and their actions in this community. Subtle is another way to say secretive. You only need to be secretive when you have something to hide," Kaito argued, slyly tapping the side of his temple to symbolize the mask Avalanche donned. "I don't believe you have any certification as a detective but, hey. I'll humor you - why don't you walk me through your thought process, how you're going to solve all this." The last part he said mockingly, making vague gestures to all of the store. It was more childish than he liked to be, but certain people could certainly bring it out of him, and Avalanche was getting a spot at the top of the list.

"Fine! I will." Avalanche said, their voice mimicking the same level of childishness that Kaito's had. Their body turned as they pointed toward the view of the street, which had a clear view of four of the most prominent bars in the gust district. "All of the women abducted came from one of these four bars. Now as you know because you have access to APD records, the surveillance to the downtown area is cut off right before each girl is abducted. However..." Avalanche used their finger to point downward. "This location has a secondary power source. Therefore, even with the other cameras being knocked down, this one should have still been recording the incidents. Now I know that you just got the man to sign off consent to see those surveillance tapes. However, I was here first, and your agency slept on this store. So let me do my work, and maybe next time you'll catch something I missed." Avalanche said smugly. They had no reason to hide the information which the APD clearly had. However, they wanted those surveillance tapes.
Kaito's lip curled into a smile as Avalanche lowered their posture and stoicism to mimic the childishness of the APD officer. His expression was wiped into one of shock as Avalanche continued explaining.
That wasn't what Selina had said at all.
However, Kaito could not allow Avalanche to take on something so big without help. He was at a visible loss for words for a few moments before his sputtering became barely coherent thoughts. "Well, er, I don't think I should permit you to view these tapes because, well... the chain of custody is really complex and - well no, um." Overwhelmed, he closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Then he began with his classic motormouth behavior.
"Okay. I want you to be honest with me always so I'm going to extend the same courtesy. I, uh, was assigned to handle the break-in on this store where some scrolls were stolen. I don't know if the APD is aware of the missing women but that was not what I was assigned to. However, I do know that if there were officers on this case, they would be casing the area right now, and there's no one else around. So. I will not go straight to the APD with this information... if you will let me help you on this. The surveillance uncovered that is listed in this folder is focused on the store, but since we do have access to the footage, we should maybe go look and see if they did catch any of this." His hesitance was easily because working with a vigilante was against APD code in every imaginable way. Intent to work on this case had to be known; there wasn't any solving two cases with one stone bullshit at the department. But. Time was of the essence.
"Let's go view these tapes, huh?" He opened the door to the backroom where the set up would be, holding it open with one hand and clutching the folder tightly in the other, praying no officers would catch him working with a criminal.

Avalanche was in such a state of ranting rampage that they didn't even notice the shock and confusion of Kaito. It wasn't until they awaited a reply that they started to notice that the gears were moving, but there was someone not home in the boy's head. As he tried to pretend like he knew what he was doing, Avalanche looked at him plainly confused. Then, once he revealed that he had no idea what Avalanche was even referring to, the shock hit the masked vigilante like a punch to the gut.
"Wow..." Avalanche said as the boy kept talking. Avalanche turned around and started to lightly bang their head against the nearby doorway. They were so wrapped up in proving their intellectual superiority that they forgot the most basic of basic interrogation tactics; figure out first what the other person knows. The fellow lifted their head from the doorway and turned back toward Kaito as he offered for them both to work on the case together. "You know what? That's fine." Avalanche said defeated. There was no more reason to play like a hot shot after making such a rookie mistake. "Do you even have permission to observe the security tapes? Or did the paperwork just close off the prior case?" They said with their right hand gliding through their hair.
Kaito took note of Avalanche's deflated manner but was overall happy that they're combined mistakes were going to lead to a, hopefully, fruitful partnership. He gestured openly with the folder in response to Avalanche's question. "There's a lot in here," he answered deflectively. He was certain there were signed forms in here about releasing potential evidence. However, he had no interest in the paper trail if they had a limited amount of time before sundown, where more women could be taken.
"Let's just save these people," he said as he took a seat by the computer. He was sure the paper trail would line up and ease his superiors. He didn't intend to take a page out of the vigilante's book but it looked like saving first and accountability second was going to be the ideal in this situation if he wanted to stop further kidnappings.
