Brian was hesitant to send out his next pokemon, whether it was because this was his last pokemon or because, so far, Rags had mowed through every single one of his pokemon so far, whatever the concern was it was eventually dismissed by a little coaxing from Huey. "After this we can both head over to the Pokemon Center, and I'll make sure Rags goes easy on your pokemon." Brian nodded slowly and with fumbling fingers sent out his final pokemon.
"Shay~" Huey's eyes widened at the sight of the grass hedgehog who cried out joyously upon being released, its tiny stub legs carrying about three feet before it cried out another greeting and wiggled its entire body. It was the epitome of cuteness. "I just found her," Brian explained quietly and both boys watched as Shaymin sniffed about her surroundings curiously, unaware of the fact that she was in a battle. Huey practically melted there. What with her wiggling black, button nose and bright green eyes. "Rags," there was a warning in his tone. "Go easy on her."
Despite the fact that Rags wasn't effected by the pokemon's status or appearance he did what was asked of him, knocking the pokemon out with watered down version of Ice Punch. It wasn't even a punch, but rather a gentle poke to the forehead.
After Brian collected Shaymin both boys headed for the Poekmon Center, and once they had their pokemon returned Huey turned to the other. "Do you mind if I scan your Shaymin with my pokedex?" he asked shyly, "I don't think my family would believe me when I said I saw a Shaymin." Brian gave some thought to the request, furrowing his brow and tilting his head to one side, before he nodded and let out his legendary once more.
Huey crouched down, Pokedex already in hand. "I'm sorry we had to battle you," the first thing out of his mouth was an apology, which, considering the circumstances, seemed most appropriate. Shaymin pushed herself onto her back legs, tiny paws flailing momentarily in the air before they settled onto his knee. "Shaymin!" from her tone of voice, all was forgiven, and a wide smile blossomed across his face. "I'm glad you've forgiven me," he replied sincerely and after giving her a soft scratch underneath the chin scanned her.
With that done the two boys parted ways and Rags, who had once again been released from his pokeball, gave a smug farewell before he joined his trainer in entering the forest.

☆ ☆【Once Kraven was finished in the bathroom, Phoenix turned her attention away from Klaus, who was sleeping in the armchair on the other side of the room, to face her ebon-haired companion. Now that it was just the two of them for the most part, that just left them figuring out which side of the bed they would each sleep on. The redhead did her best to keep her gaze focused on Kraven, but at the same time not too focused on her. She didn’t want to seem like she was staring at her companion, since that would most likely count as being creepy and would only serve to exacerbate the growing atmosphere of awkwardness that lingered in the room. Kraven seemed glad to agree with the notion that neither of them were really interested in watching TV tonight, even then Phoenix doubted there would even be anything good on, there rarely ever was this late at night… With that said, she stood up from her seat on the bed and moved over towards the left side of the bed, suggesting that she would take it if Kraven had no problems with occupying the right side. As she pulled back the covers and slid herself in under the sheets, she quickly added that they could always switch sides if her companion so desired. Of course, it was a silly question to ask, since Kraven nonchalantly dismissed it and said that the bed was soft enough on her side. Phoenix allowed herself a small smile, though her stomach was already starting to do flip flops and somersaults as she felt the sheets shift from Kraven settling herself in bed as well. The idea that they would be sleeping in the same bed together was awkward enough, now that they were actually physically in bed together was just adding even more awkward on top of the pre-existing awkward… Phoenix kept looking over towards Kraven out of her peripheral vision, the two of them making sure that they weren’t actually touching one another as they got settled in. Thankfully, the bed was big enough for the both of them to make themselves comfortable, but there was the very real possibility that they could toss, turn, and roll around all night, winding up in them waking up tangled in one another when morning came… The redhead felt herself blush heatedly, hoping that it would never have to come to that, the last thing she’d want to do in the morning was to have to explain to Kraven how she had ended up on top of her in the middle of the night while apologizing profusely in between. Phoenix hugged her arms against herself, she never was one to really toss and turn about all night, so maybe they wouldn’t have a lot of problems after all… She heard the click of the lamp on the nightstand as Kraven switched it off, plunging them and the room around them into complete darkness, save for the moonlight peeking in through the shutters of the window on the far wall of the room. Leaning against the pillow, Phoenix closed her eyes and tried to drift off into sleep. ’ Arceus give me strength…’ she whispered a quiet prayer in her head, hoping that she would be able to survive the night completely intact. Unfortunately, Phoenix found that she couldn’t quite fall asleep, always finding herself being a bit cautious of Kraven on the other side of the bed literally only a few feet away. On the other hand, it seemed that her ebon-haired companion couldn’t quite go to sleep either as she heard Kraven speak up, saying that this didn’t seem that bad. ” Y-Yeah, I guess so…” Phoenix agreed quietly, hugging her end of the sheets close to her, “You know… It’s actually fairly nice, sleeping together with a friend…” The redhead felt heat creep up her face once again upon realizing what she had just said. ” A-Ah, I’m s-sorry… I didn’t mean for that to sound w-weird or anything,” she quickly corrected herself, not wanting to give Kraven any wrong ideas, ” I-It’s just that, I’d feel much more comfortable s-sharing a bed with y-you than with a complete stranger… O-Oh no… that’s not wh-what I… Oh dear…” Dammit Phoenix, pull yourself together! Just be an adult about this, that’s all there was to it, right? ” J-Just try to think of it as a… sleepover type thing… or s-something… You know… the k-kind of thing that friends usually do, m-maybe it wouldn’t feel as awkward then…” she added on, hoping to offer some kind of reassurance to her ebon-haired companion, ” I-I mean… we are friends, r-right…?” Phoenix felt certain that she could think of Kraven as a friend, even if they had only met and gotten to actually know one another just days before. Still, she wondered if Kraven thought of her as a friend as well, though Phoenix couldn’t blame her if she didn’t… Technically they were still pretty much acquaintances at the very least, but still, the redhead liked to think that she had made a friend in the other girl… Phoenix fell silent for a moment or two, her eyes gazing towards the window, tracing the thin beams of moonlight that leaked through the shutters, spilling down the curtains and walls before pooling onto the floor below. ” H-Hey, Kraven… You said that you had been thinking about joining the Rangers, right…?” she spoke up once more, hoping to segue them into a different topic to help them try to get more comfortable before trying to sleep again, ” I mean, technically we still need to go to Nacrene for the gym, and I need to make a quick stop in Striation to get my first badge as well, but… M-Maybe we could take a brief side trip to the Ranger School while we’re here in Castelia? We could head right over to the train station in the morning… or we could wait and come back here at a later time, when we both have our two badges… Really, it’s up to you…” She wasn’t certain if Kraven had any kind of preset agenda as far as the Gyms and Ranger School, but Phoenix wasn’t in any real hurry to be anywhere, not yet at least… Wherever Kraven went, Phoenix would gladly follow as far as she was concerned.】☆ ☆

With four pokemon and an unconscious boy entering the city their group was bound to get a few looks, and after the fifth eyebrow raise sent their way Yuki decided it was best to lead them through a less crowded section of the city; their destination was still the Pokemon Center, but this way they'd get less questions hurtled their way, and that was a relief to everyone.
On their way to the Center, however, they were stopped by a Zubat, or rather hindered by one. It certainly made traveling more difficult at least. Rags looked at the familiar pest flying sightlessly through their air, its high-pitched squeaks only succeeding in annoying him. Before he got the chance to attack, however, Beep released himself from his pokeball, white fleece already crackling with electricity. With one powerful zap the Zubat was down and twitching on the floor.

Rags scoffed as he made steady eye-contact with Beep, the latter the first to break away to look up at Huey. Rags took that as a sign of victory and with a huff of satisfaction he turned to look for another pokemon to test his mettle against. There was no way a sheep was going to out-perform him! With a snort at the very thought he jerked his loose skin up before he stomped off. Klefki watched the interaction with its blank gaze, blinking once, before it turned to watch Rags.
The Scraggy didn't have to travel far before he found a Rattata. The purple rat gave an indignant squeak which quickly turned to one of outrage and pain when Rags treated it to a quick chop on top of its head, before it ran away.

Rags turned back to the group after his victorious battle, fully expecting to see them all on their knees--save for Huey, of course--in awe and glory. Instead he found it to be nearly the opposite: no one was paying attention to him and even Klefki had turned its attention to Beep, who had long since garnered their attention. They seemed to be engrossed in a conversation, Rags too far away to catch the topic. He huffed and, not wanting to be excluded, jogged over to hear what was being said.
Yuki glanced up as he arrived, a pointed look on her face. "Rags, let Beep handle any of the pokemon that come by," she ordered, taking him back. "He wants to get stronger," she interjected, stopping him before he could complain. For a moment an expression of worry and anger crossed her face before it quickly disappeared and she placed a hand to her face. All but Rags now knew what had come to pass inside the forest, how Cloud had been kidnapped and how he and Huey had just barely managed to escape, and found herself upset, not only at the human who had dared to harm her trainer but at herself for not being there to protect him.
"Anyway, you're not to fight anymore pokemon until Beep feels he's strong enough," she continued, pulling herself out of her own thoughts and turning her attention back to the one-sided conversation, Rags simply silent. As if to showcase this a Zubat appeared and without a sound Beep went off to deal with it, Yuki settling Rags with an icy glare to make sure he didn't try anything.

Once Beep had dealt with the Zubat he turned to look at the group, his tail wiggling lightly. "We should get going," he suggested, tone light. "I can just take on any pokemon that we come across, but Huey, Cloud, and that little superhero we picked up need to get looked at." The others agreed, albeit found themselves confused at the 'superhero' part. "You mean Emolga?" Klefki guessed and Beep nodded in confirmation, his tail drooping a little. "He was really brave, taking on those bigger pokemon, even a human, like that. It's partially my fault he got hurt, I.. I wasn't strong enough to do anything," he admitted, head bowed.
Klefki nodded, inner relief flowing through its tiny body. So its hunch had been right, Emolga was with this group of pokemon. "Don't beat yourself up too much," it tried a hand--or key, really--at reassuring the sheep as they all began moving again. "Emolga's always been impulsive, this isn't the first time he's been hurt because of that trait." The words didn't have the desired effect Klefki would've liked, Beep still looked down, but the sheep appreciated the key-ring's attempt and it showed.
"Huey will release your friend once Nurse Joy gives him the okay," Beep told the other once he'd returned from defeating a Grimer, his white fleece now stained with mud, he didn't seem to notice, or care, however. "Then you two can leave together." Klefki was silent, drawing a slow, appraising gaze over the four pokemon, before it nodded. "Very well."

As the pokemon center came into view Beep managed to take out two more low-flying Zubat, blindsided the first with a blast of electricity before quickly taking out the second one before it could escape. It may, or rather it was, a bit vicious but he was desperate to get stronger, and he couldn't accomplish that by playing nice.
Aware of an audience Beep turned to see a young child looking at him in awe, her lips forming a small 'o'. He bleated a greeting, tail wagging gently, but didn't stay long enough for the girl to approach and instead quickly hurried into the pokecenter, where the rest of group had already entered.
Nurse Joy looked up expectantly as the automatic doors slid open, her eyebrows scrunching together and nose wrinkling, however, when she saw the odd group made up of nearly entirely pokemon. She kept her composure, however, and instead held her tongue as the rather large Emboar tromped over to the counter, gently readjusting a blonde boy in its arms.
"Our trainer and a few of his pokemon need to be looked at." Joy slid her gaze away from the evolved starter and relocated to the Froslass who had approached, her ice blue eyes practically boring holes into her small frame. "Of course," Joy replied evenly and walked from behind the counter, an Audino, who had heard the noise, rounding the corner to quickly join the woman.
"I'll have Audino take care of your pokemon while I look at your trainer."

It was only an hour later when Huey woke up, forearms and cheek bandaged and lying in an unfamiliar bed. He sat up slowly and brushed a few strands of hair from out of his eyes, gave a yawn, and drew a bleary gaze around the empty room. From what he could tell he was in one of the many vacant rooms the Pokecenter offered, their design nearly identical in each of the towns' center save for a few decorative differences that varied from region to region.
Huey pulled the covers from off his body before throwing his legs over the side of the bed, bringing his arms up for inspection. The claw marks the Skarmory had left behind were now covered with gauze, expertly wrapped; and although he couldn't see it, he assumed some sort of salve had been applied to keep infection away. His cheek had less work done to it, a simple patch had been applied, something his parents could have done; he doubted he'd been kissed on the cheek though.
So he'd been treated and laid down to rest, all he needed now was-- "Oh, you're awake!" Huey jumped and flinched, his hand flying to rest on his chest where his heart had begun to hammer rapidly. "Y-Yuki, you scared me," Huey admitted, but felt a great relief run through him as he was finally reunited with one of his pokemon. "Ah, I'm sorry~ I didn't mean to." In her hands she held a tray, but quickly placed it onto the table to free herself up so that she could place one hand against his bandaged cheek, the cold her body provided a cool comfort.
"My poor trainer," she murmured and kept her hand where it was until his body became wracked with shivers. "I'm so sorry I let that happen to you, I should have been there. You wouldn't have gotten hurt then." Huey offered a soft smile, unsure of what to say for a few moments. "It's not your fault, Yuki," he reassured and wiggled his bare feet over the edge of the bed, his socks and shoes had been removed. "We couldn't have expected that sort of person could be in the forest, and everything worked out well... in the end."

Huey turned to look outside the window absently, using the color of the sky and position of the sun to reveal the time of day rather than the clock on the opposite wall. "I slept for a while," he observed, guessing that it was late afternoon from the dark orange sky, there was the sound of sheets ruffling as the boy turned away from the window and back to the room. "Where's everyone else?" he asked, barely able to hold back his yawn. Before she answered Yuki nudged the tray towards Huey, where a plate of food and a glass of water stood, indicating that she wanted him to eat first.
Huey pulled the plate off the tray, looking the sandwich over once before he picked it up and bit into it; as he chewed he motioned for Yuki to speak. "Rags, Beep, and Cloud are outside," she reported and began puttering about the room, rearranging his shoes right by his bed before she floated towards his bookbag to dust it off. "Cloud's okay, he hasn't spoken yet but Nurse Joy said he was completely fine." Huey nodded, chewing and then swallowing through his mouthful before he spoke, "what about Dianna?"
Yuki held up a finger, motioning him to wait a moment, before she spent the entire duration of a minute vainly trying to pluck a speck of dirt from off his bag. With a sigh she gave up and turned back to Huey to answer his question. "She's with that Klefki-- it showed up with her when she arrived-- and they're with that little rodent... Emolga, it's still getting looked over."
Huey didn't bother with a remark for Yuki's bit of memory loss and instead concentrated on the information he'd just been given, chewing his sandwich thoughtfully. "Let's go check on them," he suggested after he finished his food chasing it down with water. "Are you sure you're in any condition to be moving?" Yuki responded in the form of a question, her attention now solely on him. "It's not like I was seriously hurt," he countered, and already was searching the room for his socks. "I just hurt my arms a bit and my cheek is banged up, I can still walk and move around."
Huey grinned victoriously when he located his socks, rolled up into a small ball right near his shoes, and slipped them and his shoes onto his feet before he grabbed his bag. "Alright, let's go."

Huey had barely exited the room before he was greeted by a chorus of relieved cries and then bum-rushed by Rags and Beep, Cloud giving his own wiggle of happiness in the former's hands. The boy smiled, a warm feeling enveloping him knowing that his pokemon had been this worried about him, it certainly made him feel loved.
"Hey guys," he greeted them quietly, taking Cloud from Rags when the little egg's movements became too erratic for the Scraggy to handle. "Hueburt! You're okay~" Cloud grabbed his trainer's cheeks to pull his face closer to his, smushing their foreheads together in, what Huey could interpret as, an odd show of affection. Huey giggled. "Yeah, I am. What about you? Nurse Joy said you were fine, but I want to make sure."
The Togepi disengaged from his face and relaxed back, finally stilling his limbs so that he could look up at the blonde. "I am 100%, totally, absolutely, A-Okay!" he reported and wiggled himself out of the boy's grasp to land firmly on the ground, executing a single pirouette to confirm his condition. Huey laughed once more, unknowingly releasing the breath he'd been holding.

Once Cloud had finished up his dance moves Huey swiveled his head around to take in Beep, who had grown oddly quiet and even backed away a few steps. "Hm? Is there something wrong, Beep?" he questioned, a hint of worry creeping into his tone. The sheep baaed dispiritedly, though did his best to force a bit of cheer into the tone. He tipped his head, obviously confused, before a mental nudge had him turning his head accordingly to Yuki.
"He feels responsible for you getting hurt," she explained, using their telepathic link to keep the conversation between them. "Oh," Huey spoke out loud, realized he had done so, and quickly corrected himself. "Oh... well, what happened wasn't his fault." Yuki didn't offer a response and hummed thoughtfully instead of sharing her opinion, her pitch high and melodious. He took that as the end of their conversation and shuffled around to face Beep once more, crouching down to get closer to his level.
Huey placed a gentle hand on his head, palm sinking down half-way into the cotton, and offered Beep a comforting smile. "You know what happened isn't your fault, right?" Beep lowered his head in lieu of replying, causing Huey to wince sympathetically; his pokemon truly had taken the blame for the ordeal. "You did your best, and you were great against that Skarmory," he reminded him and dropped down to hug his body, his cheek sinking into his fleece. Beep shuffled in place and gave a half-hearted bleat.
"We'll just have to get you stronger," he continued on, his pep talk drawing to a close. He said this to Beep as much as he did to the rest of his pokemon and himself, giving the other three a sweeping gaze to indicate this. They all needed to get stronger, him especially. This hadn't been the first time he'd been saved by someone else, and.. it didn't sit well with him. He knew the most obvious reason behind this was because he was a child, he wasn't even a pre-teen yet, but he couldn't help but grow a bit frustrated at this fact. He wanted to get strong enough to protect not only himself but his pokemon and friends, he'd.. he'd find someway to do just that.
"When you're stronger and faster than a pokemon, something like an ability means very little," he finished, pulling himself out of his own self-determined thoughts. Huey pulled away to look at Beep, who had made some improvement demeanor-wise: his head was no longer bowed. Huey beamed and after giving him a gentle squeeze stood to his feet.
"We're all going to get stronger, so that nothing like this happens again."

After his inspiriting speech Huey decided to make a mental itinerary list for himself, a few goals to accomplish while he was in Castelia. He had to check on Dianna and that Emolga, that was number one, and from there he'd start training up for his battle against Burgh; he wanted to get stronger and fighting a gym leader was the most obvious reason, not to mention that had been his original goal, now he just had a bit more incentive.
It took a bit of asking around but eventually the trainer found his starter outside a small room, it was something of an observatory, with a large, rectangular window one could look through; it reminded Huey of the sort of room newborn babies stayed in and thought immediately of when Lewis, his youngest brother, had been born: he'd gone to the hospital and looked at him through a window similar to this one.
There was no baby in this room, however, just a sleeping Emolga whose small body was covered in bandages, it almost looked like a mummy. The Emboar turned around when she heard footsteps, her ears perking up when she saw it was her trainer, and instantly swooped in to hug him, sweeping him off his feet. Huey laughed and hugged her back, careful of the fire that covered her chest and shoulders.
"It's good to see you," he murmured and Dianna snorted in agreement. Eventually the boy was placed back onto his feet, giving him the chance to approach the window and peer into the room. The lights had been turned out, in the attempt to make sleeping easier he surmised, but it wasn't dim to the point where he couldn't see Emolga, who rested on its stomach and on a miniature bed, which in turn rested on a table.

Huey pursed his lips and furrowed his brow the longer he stared at the injured Emolga through the glass, his mind churning out guilt for, what felt like, his entire body to experience. His fingers curled into small fists and his nails bit into his palm, all while his body grew rigid. This was his fault, he knew that. It wasn't enough that he'd gotten his pokemon hurt, he'd had to gone and get this wild pokemon hurt too.
With a deep sigh Huey turned around, originally to face Dianna but changed course, and made a 180 degree turn, when he heard the soft clinking of keys. He found himself staring face-to-face with a Klefki, whose emotionless face gave away nothing and gently hovered in the air. "Klef," he murmured thoughtfully, taking in the human, before he turned back to look at the window.
How he'd failed to notice the pokemon before, Huey wasn't sure, but he recognized the key-ring as the pokemon he'd seen in the tree with Emolga the first time he'd gone through Pinwheel Forest. So this was his friend then?
Ah, man... now he felt even worse.

Huey fidgeted in place, his fingers pressing together and front teeth digging into his bottom lip, eventually he had to pull his teeth away, before he broke the skin. "I, uhm.." he started, but ultimately failed. It was a bit odd, trying and failing to find the words to say to a pokemon, and yet here he was: stumbling and fumbling to try and find the right words.
"I'm sorry!" Huey finally blurted out, the volume of his voice unintentionally raising. He really needed to work on that, but on a later date of course. He quickly corrected the audibility of his voice, cleared his throat and tried to apologize once again. "I'm really sorry I got your friend into this mess, and I'm really sorry I couldn't help him much." His voice wavered and for a moment it sounded as if he was about to cry, perhaps he was just a tad too emotional? He certainly wasn't feeling like himself and bounced between various emotions. Apparently he wasn't as 'okay' as he had claimed.
Huey cleared his throat once more and swallowed heavily. He wasn't going to cry.. probably, he just needed to take a few deep breaths and try again. He did just that, though by the time he'd done so six peculiar gazes were resting on him. "I-I'll release your friend as soon as Nurse Joy says he's alright," he finished, a soft sigh escaping him afterwards. That had taken far longer than it should've.
"Klef." Klefki responded monotonously and Huey couldn't help but furrow his brow in confusion. Did that mean... "He accepts your apology, and the conditions you set for releasing Emolga," Yuki translated, moving closer to gently rub his forehead, "you'll get wrinkles if you keep up all this worrying," she chided randomly. "Sorry," he muttered, though he wasn't too sure why he was being so apologetic. "He also says there's no real reason to apologize," Yuki went on, apparently her explanation far from finished. "Emolga did what he did, fully aware of the consequences. At least that's what he believes."
Huey blinked, stepping away from Yuki before he received a literal brain freeze, and turned to look at Klefki. "...Really? He said all of that?" Before Yuki could answer the pokemon himself interjected, gliding over until he and Huey were but a few inches apart. "Klef, Klef, Klefki," he said slowly and then nodded.
..He'd take that as a yes then.
