(Years later. Aimee -14 Roulin - 15)

Last day of their freshman year of high school. Aimee's birthday was the very next day and she was excited. The bell rang for the end of school and everyone in her class jumped up and ran out, the din was louder than a heard of stampeding elephants. Aimee packed up her book bag and walked out of the class, knowing she would meet Roulin by her locker like usual. Since those two had met, they could not be separated, even by the school system. Sadly her last class was not with him, her only class not with him. The teenage girl flipped her red hair over her shoulder, coming up to her locker. Opening it up, she took out the last spirals and put them into her black book bag. Soon as she did she closed her locker, breathing in and smiling.

Roulin class ended near what he considered, 'the point of what the ********'. To others, this was simply a few seconds past the class's allotted time of ending. When the bell rang, the teenage Owl threw his hands into the air and packed his bookbag as fast as his arms allowed him to. Brisking past the crowd of boys and girls, all of which tried to fit through the small doorway with no form of organization, Roulin finally stepped into the hallway and paced to escape the bustle of the hallway traffic. Locker, then freedom. Approaching, he noticed the body of the french girl he'd been close to for the past few years. Her upper body and face was hidden by the locker. "I can't count on my fingers how many parties there will be tonight," said the excited Italian as he rubbed back his large, wild tuft of hair. "Do you want to go to one, or just do what we always do?"

Aimee looked over to Roulin, her head tilted as she looked into his eyes and then smiled. She sighed quietly as she turned to him, motioning her head towards the door. "Well let me drop my stuff off at home, then I can change and we can go to one. I think it would be nice to hang out with other people than just ourselves. Not saying hanging out with you is a bad thing, just we need to make friends now." The red head began to walk towards the door, curving around the kids who were still lingering there. Even as she grew up, boys stared at her and talked about her. Being the way Aimee was, she always thought they were talking about her accent, not the slender and beautiful body she now had. Looking over to Roulin, she blushed a little. "I was wondering if you would like to go swimming tomorrow? Since it is my birthday and all. Plus daddy is planning a trip to Europe this summer. He said you could come with. Would you want to?" Aimee tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear as they walked, looking at the ground now as they walked down the road to the private drive they had walked down so many times.

Roulin pulled from his locker the last few of his books that he'd left overnight for this day. There would be some freshman somewhere he could see them to. It was how he acquired although they were a bit more expensive than the regular price. If he was anything like his father was described to him by his stepmother, he could haggle water to a whale. Closing his empty locker and listening to the mechanic noises it made as it reset it's locker for next semester, he turned his sight over to Aimee ignoring the stares they both would occasionally receive. "Hanging out with me is never a bad thing. But, yes, that sounds like a plan Aimee. Please pick a quiet party though. Too much noise and my head will start pounding." Catching her nod towards the door, he followed closely weaving through the incoming stream of students. "A trip hm? I don't think my mother will mind too much. What part of Europe if you don't mind me asking? I'm assuming France....since you're French and all."

Aimee smiled and looked back at her friend. "Well I was thinking Italy. I've seen France before, but I want to see Italy. The Vatican city, the towns, the vineyards. It all seems so amazing." She sighed happily and then looked away as they turned down the private drive to the red head's house. The teenager bit her lip and sighed, thinking for a second. "I don't think any party will be quiet. You have a better chance of just staying at my house and watching a movie. Probably ten times less than the amount of noise that will be happening at a party." Aimee ran her fingers through her hand nervously, not really wanting to go. She had been feeling iffy all day and she just wanted to spend time with her best friend, that was all.

"Italy eh? I'd love to come. I've never visited my ancestor's homeland before actually so I think it would be a nice learning experience," said Roulin giving a scratch to his large, boisterous tuft of hair. The young man could sense nervousness coming from the girl. As a response, he turned his eyes from the still gorgeous abode to the girl by his side. "Something wrong squirt? Would you like to spend the night at your house just watching a movie? According to my friends, I blend into any situation well. If we go to a party, which is up to you, I can only hope you can do the same." Roulin's lavender eyes returned to the house and it's steps. The duo ascended them and Roulin bowed next to Aimee gesturing to the door. "Your house awaits madam."

Aimee smiled and pulled out her keys, putting the key into the lock and opening the door. "That's why girls are always all over you." Just as she opened the door, she looked in and dropped her keys in horror. The foyer was ripped apart, her father's paintings cut and broken on the floor. She walked in and stepped on the broken vase that was there, still shocked at the state of the foyer. "What..." She turned to look at the living room and saw the couch cut open and broken in half, one half was upside down and broken down into more pieces while the stuffing was everywhere. Aimee soon realized that whoever would have done this would have gone upstairs too, making her bolt up the grand stair case. As soon as she ran into her room, she stopped, looking at the mess of papers strewn about the room. The red head bent down and picked up one of the papers, looking apon one of her sister's drawings. The teenager looked up to see her window open, making her walk towards it with curiosity. Aimee stepped onto the balcony and looked down onto the ground, soon gasping and covering her mouth with her hand. In her paints, on the backyard lawn, was spelled out 'O.W.L.s must die.' Aimee was frozen, staring at the hate message with tears in her eyes.

Roulin could only blush and grin smugly at the french girl's comment. Rather than respond and land himself in hot water, the Italian chose to simply stroll into her house behind her in silence. Upon entry, he was shocked and appalled at the events that had obviously transpired. What was usually the perfect interior...a decorator's masterpiece was now the scene of a heinous act. Things were shredded, overturned and destroyed leaving only remnants of the possessions Aimee loved. What were widened eyes were now only narrow, inquisitive orbs. Following Aimee upstairs to the balcony, Roulin noticed the message across the grass. Rolling his eyes, he said beneath his breath, "There goes the neighborhood." A few steps into the room and his eyes opened once again at another revelation. "Aimee, your father is at work right? Is he usually home by this time?"

Aimee looked towards her friend, listening to him. His words went through one ear and out the other, not registering. Then it clicked, making her look out the door and down the hall. "He is normally home by now..." Aimee pulled out her cell phone and dialed his number, hearing the dial tone. She waited for the ring, hoping she didn't hear her father's phone going off in the house. To her dismay a ring came from downstairs from other phone, making her heart sink. Slowly she walked out of her room and down the stairs, looking for her father's phone. "His phone is here, but where is he?" She was thinking out loud, feeling at an all time low as she picked up her parental unit's phone. Looking around and soon making her way down the hall to the garage, seeing the door open. She looked and saw all of the cars were present, knowing her father was somewhere, just didn't know where. "Rou... We need to find my father..." Aimee turned and looked at her friend, holding back worried tears.

Roulin's head turned as the ringtone of Aimee's foster father's phone went off. Just as the french girl was, Roulin was now confused, but focused all the while. He traversed the staircase behind Aimee and came to a stop in the living area behind her. It was more than obvious now that her father wasn't here and was probably outside of the immediate area. Fending off the influx of emotions that came from the girl in front of him, Roulin began to think. Just as Aimee said, finding her father was the main priority, but standing in the garage staring at pricey wasn't going to find him. "Uhhh...." began the young detective, fiddling with words afterwards, "Umm, we may need the keys to one of these cars. Do you know where they are?"

Aimee looked at her father's car collection, remembering where he put the keys. "Yeah, I'll go get the mustang keys." She walked back past her friend and back into the house. Walking to the entry way, over the broken paintings, Aimee took the keys marked Mustang. The red head bit her lip and sighed, gripping the key's tightly as she walked back to where her friend was standing. "Here. My dad never taught me to drive. Plus you are the one who can actually sorta legally drive." She pressed the unlock button and then hands the keys to Roulin. Walking around to the other side, the teenager got in and closed the door. Aimee remembered the many trips as a little kid in this sports car, going to get ice cream and many other places. Putting her seat belt on, the girl sighed loudly.

Roulin drew his hands from his pockets then crack his knuckles as mentally he prepared himself for this upcoming trial. He walked down the garage steps to the car after Aimee breezed past him, her mind swirling with emotions that made Roulin's empathic soul writhe for the retrieval of her lost parent. When she returned, unlocked the door and hand Roulin the keys, the young man smirked listening to what the little lady had to say. After slipping the key into the ignition and twisting, the engine roared to life causing him to flinch in fear. As the engine calmed, so did the Italian. Before backing out of the garage and turning shakily, he said to Aimee, "Sorta isn't the word. I don't have a license. Do you know where your father works? We're checking there first with his co-workers."

Aimee cracked a small smile and put her hand on Roulin's shoulder calmly. "Don't worry. If we crash I'll heal you. If you die i'll bring you back to life. I can't die. But be careful okay? I really don't want to think about how much this car is worth." The red head laughed a little. She knew that if they got hurt that she wouldn't have a problem healing them. What ran through her mind now was the address or way to her foster father's work. The teenager looked out the window and squinted, remembering the route. "Take a right, then a left at the first light. Then keep going straight for about four lights, then a right, then his work is on the left." She had a photographic memory, which she was glad to have. "Thank you for coming with me... I really appreciate it." The red head squeezed her friend's arm and let her arm fall down to her sides.

"I'm not worried about crashing, burning or dying," replied Roulin while making his way to the front gates, his left foot alternating between the gas and break pedals as he handled the horsepower as best as he could. "There are more things on my mind. One of which is just saving your dad and getting home in time for dinner." After the gates opened, Roulin and Aimee were out onto the streets driving as inconspicuously as the non-licensed, somewhat inexperienced boy could. He kept to his lane and took the directions just as Aimee said, but each passing moment came with a roar of the engine and a squealing of the tires as he fought with the beast of a car. When he neared a stoplight, he glanced over to the girl just for a moment and grinned, then patted her shoulder. "If I didn't who would've? The police around this place are garbage...as insulting to garbage."

"American cops. I wish they had better cars. In France they have sports cars. Here.. they have rinky dinky toy cars that look like you could kick it and it would fall apart." Aimee seemed to sigh at the justice system these days in the United States. She understood the pressure these people are under, but that doesn't mean that gives you a right to just sit back and take it. "There it is. Park here." She pointed to the building and told Roulin to stop, jumping out once he did. The red head bolted across the street, making several cars come to a screeching halt and honk their horns. Right now her father was the only think on her mind, that and the fact that who ever did this knew everything about them. Aimee walked in through the glass doors and up to the secretary. "Hi. Which floor is my father on?" The secretary looked at her computer for a second then told her the floor, getting distracted by another call on her phone. "Come on, Roulin. He is on the fifth floor." Going for the elevator, all she could picture was her father's face. The teenager pressed the up button to call down the elevator, clenching her hands and then letting them open over and over again.
