Gersif's heart paused not sure if what his fur told it was true, then it raced thrilled at the sensation, before Gersif could get it under control again. He was glad he was one to live in the moment, the fact that this morning he has been a bachelor looking for a good casting spot and now he was a partner and father was pressing against the edges of his thoughts but he dismissed them they would only cause baffling confusion and possibly a headache, he liked the now, the being a pillow moment that could slip away at any second, it was a moment to take pleasure in rather than ruin with obtrusive thoughts. "I'm glad you can get him to listen" he chuckled half joking.
At Sayako's return he smiled in greeting, not planning to ask any questions. He was in far too good a mood to spoil it, but it wasn't necessary to ask anyway. He just nodded in acknowledgement wondering silently to himself what it might be that Thane had gone to retrieve.

"I guess" she said quietly "that since 'you' hadn't been here and it was just 'me' to take care of him for a while he is used to listening to me more but don't worry, I am sure that will change" she said as opened an eye, having sensed Sayako's return and yawned softly as she got up.
Oliver finished his first bit of cake and started on the second happily, taking a bite of that and then a couple of licks from the ice cream.

Gersif nodded, he had been joking and hadn't really expected a reply but she was right, it made perfect sense... not that he liked it, but he would work on it and things would improve slowly just like she said.
A frown flicked across his face before he could stop it, he had liked being a pillow not that he would have thought that about himself moments before but the spot where her head had rested was still warm with a residual sensation of weight as though his body was missing a part of itself there and it wanted it back.
He stood and stretched instead thinking it about time the hostess and chef got a proper thank you. He walked around the spread of food to the humans side gently pawing her thigh to gain her attention before licking her cheek in thanks. His human always enjoyed an appreciative lick and he hoped it would be suitable for this human as well.

Lenore put her plate down as the other came up to her and gave her a lick, wrapping her arms around his neck she gave him a cuddle and kissed his head "your welcome, darling" she said as she let go of him, taking a few containers out of the basket she had brought along so she could put the rest of the meat into "I will put the rest of this stuff in the cupboard back at Odessa's place though since it should be refrigerated it has to be eaten in a couple of days or so at most but I am sure that will be able to be done" she said as she looked at Odessa and then at the pup "both mother and son seem to have big enough appetites to finish this off by themselves" she said as she put the meat into the containers.
Odessa carried on eating, not bothering to pay the others attention, she has sweet stuff in front of her and that beat paying attention to conversation right now.
Thane arrived back moments later and handed the bear to Oliver "this belongs to you" Thane said smiling at the pup as he placed the well loved but still in good condition bear in front of him "this was your..." he paused for a few moments, finding it hard to say the word 'father' since the father he knew and the father the pup should of known, the one who originally owned the bear, were two completely different Kitsu's and he knew that as soon as he said father he would turn around and probably thank the imposter and ask if it was alright to have it or whatever which just made this harder then what he first thought it would.
Sayako lent over and nudged him, telling him he shouldn't be leaving the kid hanging like he was.
Thane turned around and nodded, taking a deep breath he continued "...this was your fathers, I 'stole' it from him a while back to tease him and teach him that he shouldn't be carrying around such things" he said to the pup, not exactly a lie, he had, many times, 'stealing' it from Morpheus as a joke, teasing him about how a grown man shouldn't carry around such things etc, it was always in good humour and Morpheus knew that and went along with it and had told him once that one day he would give it to his son or daughter too bad that day had never come, it should of been Morpheus who gave it to Oliver not him. Thane sighed as his eyes were brimming with tears and blinked them away as he cleared his throat "take care of it alright? I am sure he would want you to have it" he said as he nuzzled the pup before looking at Gersif. "I guess your days of carrying it around with you have come to an end, at least you know it will be in good paws" he said sadly smiling at Gersif whilst all the time he was thinking of Morpheus and knowing a joke would of been said about the situation and as much as he knew what Morpheus would of said and he tried to smile at it he just turned away and went and laid back down next to Sayako and just buried his head into her fur, trying so hard not to cry even though a few lone tears fell silently down his face and onto the ground, his heart feeling like the hole Calliope and (especially) Morpheus had left already just got bigger.
Sayako rested her head on Thanes and nuzzled him, comforting him as best as she could whilst all the time trying to make it look natural and Thane was just being his usual loving self when he was around her.
Oliver looked at the bear, at Thane and then at his father "you sure it is alright daddy?" He asked, oblivious to the fact that Thane had basically just caused more 'damage' to his heart over the bear, he loved it but still, if it was his fathers favourite thing he wasn't one to take it away from him even if technically he still would be seeing it every day.

Gersif nodded at the human, he keep that in mind, if he took any walks he'd be sure to pack some of those to help use them before they spoiled. That was if he managed to go out on his walks, he would be gaining family and losing some freedom, where once he would have walked for weeks or months on end before returning home, he would have to limit himself to hours instead, and only once Oliver got use to him being around and not panic if he were to leave. He would adjust.
Gersif had completely forgotten about the bear until Thane gave it to Oliver. He winced when Thane admited to Oliver it was his fathers, he wished he had said it belonged to a good friend of his who had wanted to Oliver to have it, or something... anything else, but now he would have to claim it as part of his own history, his own childhood and that would be difficult to do. He wasn't the stuffed animal type.
Gersif's mouth smiled while his eyes apologized, he nodded to Thane and with a joking tone he said "It looks happier with Oliver already." He hoped Thane wouldn't take offence, it was merely what he thought the true owner might have said. He hated the pain this was causing the two dear friends, he had never expected to cause such pain when he had agreed to be the parent of an orphan. He stopped himself from wincing when Oliver asked if it was alright, why why why did he have to admit it was his fathers? His eyes on Thane trying to hid his sorrow, a frown tugged at his lips which he forced into a smile for Oliver's sake, ripping his eyes off Thane to address Oliver directly.
"Of course! He deserves to be with someone who can spend more time with him than I can." It was true, but Gersif wasn't really thinking of the bear at the moment, his eyes had drifted back to Thane "Just be sure not to get him dirty with all that dessert you've been inhaling." He gently rubbed Oliver's head and turned to go back to Odessa's side forcing himself to once again not look at Thane. He just hoped Oliver was oblivious to all the pain in the current company.

Thane had thought about telling the pup the bear belonged to a dear friend of his or whatever but he couldn't, not now that he had already been lied to so much, it may have helped but would it really have been a help or just make the situation worse? There were already enough lies, furthering the one lie that was already being spread was bad enough but making it another lie on top of the lie they already were lying to the pup about seemed a bit worse in hindsight so he went with the bear being the pups fathers, adding to the lie was a little better then creating more lies...at least he thought so.
Sayako looked over at Gersif as Thane tried to calm down and smiled somberly at him, mouthing the words 'thank you' in it was terrible how this was happening but she understood why Thane had done what he did and would explain later but right now at least the bear was with its now rightful owner "I think you are right" she said smiling at the pup who was getting his mouth cleaned by Lenore before he pounced it, narrowly missing his dessert "I think he does look happier now also."
Oliver nodded as he cuddled it "I will watch out and I will take care of him!" He said happily "I promise! Thank you daddy!" he said happily as he cuddled the bear and nuzzled it.
Odessa smiled a little at the pup and softly sighed, as sweet as the gesture was the feelings of the two beside her and Gersif was just horrible, she was going to have to do a reading when she gets home, the cards would be able to tell her something surely, see if what she was doing would be right in the long run, besides using an Ouija Board to try and get in contact with his real parents, which she didn't like touching since she believed those things were just evil, the tarot cards were the best option.

Gersif nodded at Sayako a saddened smile on his face thanking her for the support and apologizing for the trouble. His heart tensed at the 'thank you' Oliver gave as though it was pulling away from the thank you it knew did not belong to it. Gersif bent down to whisper in Oliver's ear "You should go thank Thane, I think he would really appreciate it." He gave Oliver a gentle nudge of encouragement with his nose.
He needed to center himself again, this day was taking a lot of effort to stay grounded a roller coaster of emotions and not all of them his but affecting him all the same. He closed his eyes took a deep breath held it for the count of three and then slowly let it out, his ears honed on his own heart beat he willed it into a proper calm rhythm. Opening his eyes he laid down, he really wanted to roll in the dirt and fill his senses with earthly dust and think of all the ground has born witness to, how far the dust had traveled and what it might have seen along the way; but it didn't seem appropriate to the situation so he refrained for the moment. Maybe later he told himself.

Thane had gotten himself together and took a deep breath as he nuzzled Sayako in thanks.
Oliver nodded and left the bear and walked over to Thane and nuzzled him "thank you, Uncle Thane" he said as Thane looked down and nuzzled the pup back, pulling him a little closer for a cuddle "Uncle...?"
Oliver cuddled back "yep! I remember mommy used to tell stories about you before she went away, I had forgotten them till you showed up, first time I had seen you but the name and the look of your fur brought back the stories she used to tell me about you, said you and daddy were basically closer then brothers, you two did everything together but then it sort of died down a bit when he got mated with mommy and couldn't do the stuff you used to anymore because it would upset mommy and so to save her the worry you and daddy still did stuff but it wasn't as reckless or dangerous and it sort of did pull you and him a part a little but you two were still close regardless." He said as he licked his uncles cheek "and I will take very good care of him" he said, not really knowing why he should be telling him this but he felt he should for some reason.
Thane kissed the top of Olivers head "I see, I guess she was right, it did worry her" he said as he looked over at Odessa, a flash of Calliope's face appeared where hers was for a minute, different facial features and a slight different coloring but still, it was, for a moment, Calliope's face but he shook it off and smiled at her "your mother was a worry wart" he said grinning a little at her "but we knew when we had to stop, your father never wanted to do anything that would upset her..." he said as he watched Odessa lay her head on Gersif's shoulder again.
Odessa whispered softly to him "I know I shouldn't be listening to these stories and making them my own but a part of me wants to, a part of me just wants to hear about Morpheus and Calliope and learn of their history, whether I use it or not is irrelevant, I just want to know more about them regardless, they sounded like such awesome and fun Kitsu's" she said, but decided to keep the fact that she also hated this to herself, being that they WERE fun and awesome Kitsu's she just didn't like that these two completely different kitsu's of herself and Gersif were now someone they were meant to be, it was horrible but still, as much as she hated it she wanted to know more about them anyway.
Thane continued as he looked away from Odessa and back down at the pup "so we camlmed down, he started living a more relaxed lifestyle, enjoying just being with your mother, never thought I would see it really, this once great fighter, protector of the peace, helping people whenever they needed it and we both traveling for miles because of it was now happy to put that lifestyle away and settle down, something he had told me he would never do, no girl was worth giving up the lifestyle he loved but everyone has their price and your mother made him an offer he couldn't refuse." Thane said smiling a little to himself as he turned and looked at Sayako who was grinning, they both knew what it was but decided to not say anything "but that, my darling Oliver" he said as he nuzzled him once more "is a story for another day" he said as he went back to the bear subject "and I know you will take good care of the bear" he said as he let him go.
"Aww but I wanna hear more about mommy and daddy!"
"Another day, darling, I promise there will be other days for other stories but don't you have a dessert you have to finish?"
Oliver nodded "I do and alright, I guess I can handle waiting for another day to hear stories about my mommy and daddy" he said walking back to his dessert.
"I am now curious what Calliope offered myself" Odessa said to Gersif quietly before getting up and walked over to Lenore and nuzzled her, giving her a lick and a playful tag at her hair soon after in thanks for the meal.
Lenore finished the bit she was chewing on and cuddled Odessa and smiled at her "youre welcome sweetheart" she said as she cuddled Odessa, placing a kiss on her head and then started to slowly start packing up the food.
Odessa walked back to Gersif and laid back down next to him, head still filled with the story that had just been told and sighed, why did he have to stop? Oh well, there will be other days though she may need to see about this offer sooner rather then later, Thane was terrible just stopping on that part when it was getting good.
Sayako looked at the others, remembering her dearest friend, if Calliope was her she would of loved this, if there was one thing she adored it was gatherings, she loved playing the happy hostess but alas, no more will that be happening, she sighed as she nuzzled Thane and licked his cheek before whispering in his ear which saw him nod, tonight she and he were going to spend the night together, she just wanted to cuddle against someone and who better then the guy who was going through the same thing she was? He was going to be her comfort as much as she was his.

Gersif smiled, pleased that Oliver included Thane in the family by calling him Uncle, he hoped it would help ease Thane's pain, Oliver was the key to their healing, there was little Gersif could do to aid it, but Oliver could do little to hurt.
Gersif licked Odessa after she spoke "Me too" he whispered back. Knowledge was power and the less their stories conflicted the better. He didn't want to tell Oliver something about his grandfather --Gersif's own father-- and have Thane tell him something completely different, about Morpheus's father, then try to reconcile the two.
"She still is a worry wart" he smiled jokingly addressing Thane and Oliver. She was making herself sick with worry so it couldn't be far from the truth. He smiled silently when Odessa wondered about what Calliope offered. He could think of only one thing, though he didn't say as much.

Odessa smiled at the lick and then glared at him "hey! I am not! I have calmed down alot since Oliver has been born, OK so maybe going after a cure for our little boys stuntedness wasn't the most smartest idea..." she said, making mention of the fact it would of been Calliope's worry and hope that she could find a cure for her son that lead her off on such a journey to begin with though in hindsight it was a bit silly and reckless to do so "but I still have calmed down alot" she said pouting a little.
"I don't know, last time I heard you were upset about how much milk you had to produce to keep Oliver healthy, what mother does that!? I mean, you produce enough to keep the baby healthy no matter what, it is what your body is good at doing, knowing this stuff, it was senseless worry for nothing and that was just the last time, who knows what you have worried about since then" he said teasing the other whilst he grinned at her, teasing a little.
"Oh shut it, don't you start" Odessa said in protest "and besides, he was my first, I didn't want anything to go wrong" she said as she realised what she just said which made her sick to the stomach but ignored it...at least for the time being.
Sayako let the others talk and got up and walked over to the pup and laid down next to him, nuzzling him "hey, after this do you want to have one last sleep over at my place? I know that you just got your mother and father back but who knows when I will get to have you stay with me now that they are back" she said as she kissed the pups head.
Oliver finished off his first plate and before starting on the other he looked at Sayako and nodded "yes please, Aunt Sayako!" He said happily, having always called her 'aunt'. he was told ages ago that she was the closest thing to a sister his mother had and so it just seemed proper that, after he had learnt about such things when it came to extended families, that she would be his considering the circumstances "that is, if it is alright with mommy and daddy" he said as he looked around at his parents, he was pleased they were back and wanted to spend all the time in the world with them now that they were back but he did love Aunt Sayako's place. It was fun there and her cave was up a mountain a bit so he had a beautiful view of the valley, she had claimed a cave that had a couple of smaller, shallower caves off from the main cave and he had his own room in one of them that his mothers cave didn't have so he was eager to go bac just for one night if it was alright before he had had to live with his parents.
Odessa nodded "sure, I don't have any problem with it, do you?" She asked looking at Gersif.

Gersif chuckled at her protest, he couldn't help it it was cute. He licked her again "Of course you have dear." It was more reassurance than condescending but there was a hint of teasing to it. He was having fun again glad the mood had lightened again. Glad too that he didn't have a sensitive stomach, all the up and down of emotion would have made him sick. He had faith that the bad would fade in time and it would be more good than bad and that it would all be worth it, five individuals with their own lone sob stories brought together to give each other a greater shot at happiness.
"No, I don't see why Oliver shouldn't have a nice sleep over at Sayako's." He smiled warmly thought there was fear in his eyes, he really wasn't sure about this a small creeping fear that she was going to take Oliver away from them, that they some how failed the test, but he couldn't let his fear show for Oliver's sake. Oliver wanted to go and Odessa had agreed, he was stuck. He had to trust Sayako would bring Oliver back and that tonight would just be a nice night alone with Odessa. They could talk, process what they've learned, and get their stories straight. He pushed the negative nagging thoughts away forcing himself to be positive to keep himself centered. To at the least put on a brave face for Oliver, a boy he was already proud to call son.

Odessa smiled a little at the lick but playfully pouted again "good, at least someone agrees with me" she said as she looked over at Oliver "just be good for her alright?" She said to him, not wanting him to be a pain for her.
"I won't and thank you!" Oliver said happily as he carried on eating, not wanting his ice cream to melt.
"He will be fine, he and I are used to each other by now and he knows not to push my buttons" she said, remembering the first few weeks she had to take care of him, she had sworn off having kids herself he was so damn naughty but she was able to straighten him out and with Thane's help as well though Oliver didn't know it "I will bring him back tomorrow morning sometime" she said as she licked the side of the pups head, pondering about taking him to his favourite spot to watch the stars, he always did love that as a special treat.
"That will be fine" Odessa said, loving the pup but will be glad to have this night alone to talk things over with Gersif, they needed to if they wanted to and had to keep this up.

Gersif nodded accepting the terms, so long as he was brought back Gersif had no issue with it. His mind started mulling over everything he could do with Odessa in the time they were gone, casting would be among them he thought, they could compare their results and see what the gods had to say. They could get to know each other better, the fact that they knew nothing of each other and now had a child together was something he would like to right. They could better bond and there by better support each other for troubled times to come.
He watched Oliver mowing through his second plate of dessert, he felt sick just watching all of those sweets being eaten. "Just be sure you're not giving yourself a stomach ache before going to Sayako's, I don't think playing nurse is what she had in mind." Gersif smiled half joking, trying both to warm Oliver to slow down and not eat so much sweets as well as apologize to Sayako in case it does become the case.

"Well it wouldn't be the first time" Syakao said as she nudged the pup a little "this one has had more stomach aches then any other pup I know, he can be rather greedy when he wants to be" she said as he kissed his head "but then so can his mother" she said looking at Odessa and then back to the pup, remembering the time Calliope had been given a rather large gift basket of assorted goodies by her parents for her birthday which has everything from hard boiled candy to gourmet chocolate with a selection of gourmet muffins and slices in there as well and she had eaten half the contents of the basket before Morpheus had even gotten home from hunting and he had only left a few hours or so earlier. The strange thing was she didn't even didn't even feel sick, she complained of a little bit of a stomach ache, maybe even a little bit of a bloated feeling but she just burped and carried on eating, she really did wonder where she stuck it all and why on earth she wasn't feeling sick, she was allowed to help her a little and had some of the treats but mostly, she had eaten it all "I think you both better watch what you leave lying around, he will probably eat it up" she said as she watched the pup eat the last bit of ice cream before moving onto the chocolate mud cake.
Odessa smiled at the pup "yep, he is my son alright" she said, she too had a huge apatite, when she wanted to she could easily sit down and eat about five or six large fish in one sitting and still have room for dessert and several helpings of that as well "if he doesn't eat it I will so it doesn't really matter though" she said looking at Gersif "maybe you should start keeping your food to yourself, might be easier" she said half jokingly and half serious.

"Well let us hope it's not tonight, wouldn't be right if he were to." How would that reflect on them, agree to be the kids parent and the moment he's sick pawn him off on his previous care taker? Even if she did offer before he got sick... it just shouldn't be allowed. If Oliver got sick Gersif would just have to take him home, it would be his own fault that he missed out on the sleep over, he had been warned to be careful. Even if that made Gersif the bad guy, that's what parenting was, you couldn't just be the kids friend, some times you had to discipline them and have them hate you for a while so they were grow up to be good adults... not that Oliver would ever grow up... but Gersif wasn't about to have a spoilt child. No sir.
"At least we wont have to worry about all this lovely food going bad" he joked. Looks like he was going to have to work hard to keep this family fed. His walks grabbing berries off a bush here and there, mushrooms where he found them, the leisurely meals it was all going to be a thing of the past, that is unless what Odessa said about keeping his food to himself was true.. then it might be the only way he'd get any food. He chuckled bemused with his musings it was going to be a fun and interesting life with these two.
