if you google "baby names" there's a site that comes up where you can actually see the rise and fall of popularity of various names (including ones you think aren't so popular), as well as the various derivations, gender(s) (some names you wouldn't think are unisex, are), and other stuff.
I've decided to name my kids after people in my family and friends I love, and that represent my family values and heritage. I was named after someone in my family, and want to carry on that tradition.
I think names from mythology and fiction can be good too, if used tastefully.
Slightly OT rant: I think the celebrity names are getting more and more ridiculous. It's a lot of wanking if you ask me. Same as waspy upper class people naming their babies "Cassidy" "Campbell" or "Madison" because it's trendy. Poor kids. D:

Thanks, I probably came off as an elitist a** with those names. xd At least I didn't pick uber wannabe goth names. But yea I just liked Augusta and I got Aristides from the Athenian solider. Also what's with people wanting to name their kid Cain, are people that big of fan boys/girls, or are they just stupid and don't know what it's from?

For a girl I really like Thalia. Or maybe Rayne or River. For a boy Jacob or Liam, but the father would have a large part in any sons naming. ~Nephthys

For girls, I like: Lilium, Lucy, Sarah, Samantha, Alice, etc.
I want the girl's middle name to be Carol.
(Boys are harder, because I haven't put as much thought into it): Ephram, Gregory, Lain, Criss, etc.
Unless my husband wanted to give a boy a middle name, I would originally want to give my boy the middle name "Ghost", (after the psychic, innocent character invented by the author Poppy Z. Brite.) Of course, he would probably get made fun of, or just hate it or think it's stupid, so I'd probably switch it to "Angel". (What Ghost is often compared to in the stories.)

My favorite family in the sims have sons named Jacob and Liam. XD Just a bizarre coincidence. But your name wouldn't happen to be Julia, would it?
