H a w k p a w“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.”___________________________Hawkpaw winced inwardly at the sight of Redkit's family, and Moonkit, crowding around her cold ginger body as each mourned and said their fairwells. A cat shouldn't have had to die so young...No cat should have to die like this... He thought to himself as he sat just outside of the apprentices' den. Hawkpaw flexed his claws in frustration. Somehow, he knew that StormClan had not suffered as much as the other Clans. With rats abundant in NightClan and rabbits being BreezeClan's main food source, they'd face bigger problems than StormClan, with its mice, squirrels, and voles. Hawkpaw widened his dark golden eyes momentarily. What if the Madness spread to badgers and foxes?! He shut his eyes, pushing the thoughts away. Seeing Redkit slaughtered like this was enough. Hawkpaw sighed through his nose. He caught a flicked of movement, only to realize that it was Moonkit stalking over to Silverstar and two strange new cats. Sure, he was intrigued, but he simply didn't have the energy, nor the drive, to pad over there and find out. His tail-tip flicked lightly. The next Gathering wasn't far off now...

Moonkit [Her tail swished loudly on the ground over a patch of dry leaves. Moonkit winced, she wouldn't want them to catch her now! So she froze, tail in midair and forcing herself to hold her breath. But the sight of Silverstar's tail swishing over the ground was irresistible. She crept quickly now, rushing towards the slender silver tail. But suddenly it flicked out of her way. And with nothing blocking her she ran right towards the tom, crashing painfully into his muscled chest. "Mouse-dung! Silverstar! You ruined my game.." she pouted.

[Silverstar chuckled at the white kit. She let her tail rest unmoving, then whisked it away as Moonkit's pupils widened. The silver she-cat turned back to Brightspirit.]
"I know this was not the way you intended to enter my Clan. But now, more than ever, does StormClan need warriors. I would like to welcome you to my Clan, though I cannot say the same for my Clanmates. They will decide; though I would think they would soon learn to like you, as I was liked a while after I joined StormClan in it's earlier years. Also, I would like you to come to the Gathering."

Moonkit [Moonkit's eyes widened as she looked up at what looked like senior warriors. But, at the same time, they also seemed reluctant to join with clan activity which was odd.] "Who are they?" she asked Silverstar, flicking her tail at the couple.

[I shuddered. Somehow, Moonkit's words made me furious.]
My eyes widened, and suddenly I didn't feel like myself. (( Yep, I'm bein controlled by my momma, but I AIN'T TRANSFORMING LIKE SOME PEOPLE DO. My eyes are still blue. ))
I hissed.]
"They didn't have to kill her," I said in a voice that was not my own.
"For every sickness, there is a remedy. It wasn't their kit...they didn't care if it died! If it was their kit, they would've tried to save it!"
[The voice that was speaking for me was infuriated. I felt its anger like a rolling wave.]
"This kit died for nothing! NightClan sent it to its grave, and we're going to let them get away with it!"
[My blue eyes were on fire, glinting with anger.]
"There is a remedy! BreezeClan was smart enough to know this! I know! I have seen it!
It should be a rule from now on -no clan will kill a harmless kit.
Why would they kill it?! It's helpless! They could've knocked it out and brought it back, but they KILLED IT!"
[I was roaring now.]
"They took a child away from it's mother! They denied a kit its right to live and grow! They cannot get away free! THEY MUST NOT!"
[Pain ripped through me. I shuddered. The force of power the voice was using to control me split.
I let out a cry of pain. Somehow, it had harmed me.
Oh-! No, I'm sorry, love! I lost control...I didn't mean to hurt you-
I pushed my mother's voice away and spasmed on the ground in pain.]

[Silverstar was about to answer Moonkit's question when an outburst came out of Thunderpaw. Silverstar whisked around, her eyes like knives in someone's heart, glinting with anger.]
"How DARE you question my leadersh-"
[Silverstar cut herself off when Thunderpaw collapsed. She retaliated, and the truth dawned on her. Thunderpaw wasn't speaking... She was possesed! She would never roar like that, especially to her leader and her mentor! Silverstar stepped forward and licking Thunderpaw's eyelids, getting her to wake up.]
"Moonkit! Get something for Thunderpaw to ease the pain! Poppy seeds! Anything!"

[I let out a gasp of pain. I looked down upon my flank and saw a medium-sized hole, right in the middle of my side. I let out a small whine.
Please...it was an accident...I released a small ball of energy-
No, mother! You embarrased me, and insuted Silverstar! You...you..
But I had no word to insult her with.]
"Silverstar," I panted, "I'm sorry...I don't really think that. It- my mother, she...she used me to...to speak. I..."
[I swallowed a sour taste in my mouth.
Time seemed to slow down. The sounds around me were numbed. The only thing I could see were Silverstar's emerald eyes.]
"You think I don't remember, Silverstar," I whispered, my eyes locked with hers, "but I do. I remember what happened to me that night...when you found me in a storm. I remember what was happening. We were running from someone, Silverstar, my mother and my siblings.
Then...then a lightning bold hit the water-soaked ground, and killed all of them. Incinerated them. Burned them to ashes.
But not me. Why not me? Nothing happened to me! I should have died that night!"
[I shuddered, my body convulsing.]
"What am I, Silverstar?" I whispered, my eyes wide.
[Then my eyes rolled back in their sockets, and my vision went dark. I couldn't see or move, but I could hear the sounds around me.
Daddy... I had a father...he was somewhere...but why...the memories faded around me, mixing together. Something happened. Something was wrong...]

Moonkit [Moonkit hurried away, dazed and confused. But most of all, she was hurt. Tears sprung to her eyes.] NO! That wasn't Thunderpaw, don't believe it. She was possessed.. she thought, trying to clam down. [She still couldn't believe it herself. Tears leaked down her cheeks as she obediently got the poppy seeds. She dashed back to see Thunderpaw still on the ground. Her throat felt clogged and she turned away so Silverstar couldn't see her cry.]

[Silverstar stared into her blue eyes as she grasped an answer to these questions.]
"Thunderpaw, I understand. I know it wasn't you who spoke, it's just against your nature. You would have never spoken to me like that. You are in no trouble."
[Silverstar felt stung at these words, yet understood. When she was only a kit, her father killed her mother in cold blood. At the time, she was a rogue, and her father was hunting her down, beliving she was a curse. She had found StormClan and was safe. No one knew about her past expet for Riverfang and Brightspirit. They were the only ones she told. She could easily remember-at at times, relive- the terror of her father. She completely understood what Thunderpaw was talking about.]
"Thunderpaw, you are alive because you have a destiny. You were destined to be here, and StarClan favored you. You are a StormClan cat, you are loyally connected to StarClan; you are my apprentice."
[Silverstar felt her pelt clog. Her words held so much emotion, she could hardly contain it.]

H a w k p a w“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.”___________________________Hawkpaw remained in his spot, unwavering as Thunderpaw went from being possessed, to unconscious, to yelling out some sort of nonsense, to unconscious once again. He watched Moonkit crying as she brought the poppy seeds to Silverstar. Hawkpaw gaped, amazed at himself. What was holding him back from his two best friends? One was hurt and the other upset, and he sat there like an indifferent, stupid fox. He flattened his ears and stared at the ground. Then again, what could he do? The tom glanced anxiously from his leader to his friends, then darted into the apprentices' den. He plopped onto his nest and curled awkwardly into a shivering heap of fur. Sure, he was hiding in fear now, but the tom simply couldn't take all this at once.

(( Just so you know, Thunderpaw's mom can hear your thoughts. She won't tell anyone tho. D: ))
[Suddenly, my face tightened. My eyes forced themselves open, and I felt my mother taking hold of me again.
I slowly turned and looked at Silverstar, my lips drawing back in a snarl.]
"Thunderpaw's father isn't like that," she whispered, eyes glinting. "He tried to save us.
It was my entire family who chased us down. We traveled far away...and he...when he returned, he found us gone, and didn't know what to do...he's following our scent, right now...searching for us, searching for Thunder, my Thunder! And he's getting closer!"
[I choked. I had blacked out while my mother used me, and I came back, gasping for air. I didn't hear what she said, but Silverstar was looking at me in a shocked way.]

IceStorm padded over to Hawkpaw, but he had already rushed into the apprentices den. She sighed. She saw that Thunderpaw had been possessed. She padded over to Thunderpaw and her leader. She sat down a respectful distance from them and watched. Her blue eyes turning to ice, focused on the pain in the two cats eyes. It reminded her of her own pain...

[I fet choked. I sensed an immense feeling of love from Silverstar, and my heart felt warm knowing that. But before I could say anything, my mother took control again, like the tide of the ocean. Receeding and crashing down again.]
"But it does involve me," I whispered, "it does. And it involves you. They're going to try to kill you Silverstar."
[I looked at her, through my mother's eyes.]
"They're going to kill you all. Their target isn't the forest-it's the leaders of the clans!"
[My body convulsed again.]
"I'm sorry. You're not the cursed one. I got you confused. So many faces here...but his was hard to forget...crimson eyes, very outstanding...
Ah, anyway. Silverstar...you have to be careful...very, very careful...they're targeting my Thunder because of you. They want to hurt you, in every way possible, for a crime our ancestors committed years ago..."
[I shuddered. Now me and my mother were together, and spoke as one mixed voice. That of a young, lonely apprentice, and that of an agonizing mother.]
"They will kill us all for REVENGE!" screamed the voice that was both ours and at the same time not.
[Now it seemed there was more than two voices screaming out, blended together. Spirits flooded through me like a tidal wave. My eyes rolled back, and I fainted from the pressure of holding so many spirits.
Well. Fainted in my mind.
My body still reared back, yowling.]
"Divide and conquer! It is your only chance!"
[And then, everything melted away slowly, like freezing ice melting under the searing heat of the sun.]
