Eri laughed when he seemed to tickle her. "Hey..!" She giggled, then seeing David's reaction and listening to the message changed her mood completely. "...." She looked at Alex, her eyes wide. She felt tears well up, but she wiped them away quickly, embracing Alex tightly. "Alex.." She said, her voice cracking. "It's okay... I'm sure it's okay..." She held him close, closing her eyes and resting her forehead on his shoulder. "Please don't cry...." She cooed, tears coming out of her own eyes from the visible pain on his face. "P-Please...."

Despite Eri's best attempts, Alex couldn't stop crying. He wanted to, but the tears wouldn't stop flowing. He felt her embrace him. He still couldn't stop crying. Even though all of his friends were here, he still couldn't stop, he felt cold and alone. His mom was dead, as far as he knew, his dad had went irrational and was probably going to get himself killed. He curled up into a little ball, Eri still holding on to him, crying with him. He didn't notice her. Alex and David had this bad habit of letting things pile and pile up on them, putting them in the back of their minds, and then letting it out at one time. David usually let his out by making jokes... or crying when the stress was too much. Alex only cried. And when he found out his mom might be dead it was just too much. He sat there and cried. "I-I'm- S-Sorry..." He said to the whole group. Catching more breath he continued, "I-'m such a burden" His sobbing slowing, "to-y-you all..." He continued crying, but at a much more slowed rate. He wrapped his arms around Eri, his crying continuing. Alex held her tight, he didn't want to let go. It felt as if he was about to lose everyone dear to him. Kalila, Nicholas, Nina, Eri, he felt like all of them would just dissapear, and he would be left alone.
David drove, not looking at his spedometer, he had to be going at least 70 miles per hour. Turning corners without breaking, there were large skid-marks left behind. The water in his eyes ubstucting his veiw. Wiping it away, it just started to collect again. She can't be dead! She can't be dead! She can't be dead! Just kept running through David's mind as he was driving. Sarah and Alex were David's everything. He couldn't lose either of them. If he did he would breakdown and probably go insane... It would be simpler if Alex had died, he didn't want it, but at least then he'd have Sarah to go insane with. But if his wife had indeed died, he would have to stay strong for Alex, because all childeren have to live through there parents dying at some point in their life. David continued following the route to his house. As if he had been going home any other day... except he was going WAY over the speed limit. Going down the street, he turned another corner and saw the street abundent with infected. "I HAVE NO TIME FOR THIS!" David shouted, pushing the pedal as far down as it would go. The engine reved, and the infected turned towards him. As he rammed into them, they punched at the glass, blood going everywhere. Due to the glass being laminate, it didn't break, however it did get quite alot of spider web cracks. Ramming through, blood was going everywhere, there were peices of infected going in different places, and David noticed a few childeren infected. David didn't care however, the only thing on his mind right now was She can't be dead! She can't be dead! She can't be dead! David got to his parents house. He jumped out of the car, seeing his wife's car there. He ran in the door, and looked around. He saw two bodies, holding eachother. Their figures were horribly disfigured, but David somehow, KNEW they were is parents. His mind might have registered this, but his heart hadn't yet. He would worry about this later. Right now he was a man on a mission. Running through his parents huge house, he yelled, "SARAH!" Over and over. He knew he would have to keep moving, his parent's house was well insulated, and sound never travelled very far through it. Killing any infected he came across, David unmercillisly beat the sh** out of them, getting blood all over himself. Right now he didn't care, besides, he was mainly getting it on his fists, he made sure none of it got on his face. Continuasly running through his house, David stopped thinking he heard a noise that wasn't infected. It was quiet and unsteady, but sort of high pitched. Opening the door, he looked in. His mouth hung wide, tears still coming from his eyes. Sitting there curled up on the other side of the room, hugging her legs to her chest, was Sarah. She was crying... It just seems their entire family was on the same wave-length. David ran towards her, picking her up, and embracing her. She struggled loosely for a couple of seconds, then her face, red from crying, looked up at David.
Sarah looked up in shock, wandering why the thing she thought was an infected hadn't eaten her. She looked up to see her husband, "Da-David?" She asked, her voice hoarse from crying.

((*High pitched squeal*n I love Sarah and David together! They're so f*ckin' ADORABLE!!!!
[sarcasm]Oh... I'm so glad you guys keep leaving me in the dust. Let me tell you... It's so awesome having to catch up so much.[/sarcasm]
I'm sorry my posts haven't been so good... Just know I'm trying -_-'...
The timing was really messed up in this post... However, I had no idea how to fix it. Too many things were going on at once and I had too many things to respond to... So please... I'm going with your guys' words: bear with me.))
Ada watched the interaction between Eri and Alex and slowly slipped her hand from Eri's when she was distracted. Instead, she grabbed her cousin by his wrist and dragged him closer to the siblings, Mizuki, and David. She still had a suspicions about the father-son duo. However, Alex seemed to be genuinely attracted to Eri and vice versa. Moreover, David was definitely the one in command of them, so without him, nothing funny could really happen. Nikita now stood with the others and looked back at Eri, a hand dangling loosely in his pocket. His reasoning was not on the innocent side. He was happy because the two were still in view of them, Eri was barely into puberty, and if Alex did try to pull anything, he'd get infected and he'd probably deserve it. Nikita knew Alex wasn't the type of guy, but Nikita was sometimes, so he had a suspicious of guys' intentions higher than most people.
Kalila stopped laughing slowly and looked up at David with a tilt of her head as she wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes from laughing. He looked serious. Kalila blinked a couple times as if trying to comprehend what he said and then averted her eyes down and to the right, giving the impression that she was ashamed of herself. She looked at her brother as if to question if he was joking or not.
"What!?" Nicholas spazzed at the silent question, because David was thinking way too serious compared to his joking. "No! Are you kidding me? I didn't mean it like that" he said in a frustrated tone. "I mean-" He scratched the back of his head and shrugged. "I guess that's what's going to have to happen if we do need people on the Earth, but I didn't..." Nicholas trailed off. "Yeah David! Quit freakin' trying to freakin' depress us! Geez!" He exclaimed instead, in agreement with their first leader. Afterwards Mizuki spoke up in defense of himself and lightened the mood with his pretense. However, Nicholas wasn't in the mood to laugh at it this time. He didn't like to see his sister as a mere tool. Even if it was to insure the survival of the human species. Kalila was a pessimistic person a lot of the time and she would have probably taken the same route as her brother but she never liked to see her brother upset. So, she took up on Mizuki’s talk of style.
"Oh never dear!" She said with a playful flick of her wrist with her other hand on her hip. "I would never want to steal from your fantabulous taste. I could never pull it off." She said wide eyed in acting with her hand on her chin, looking back a forth to Mizuki's jeans to herself. "I mean I'm thankful enough that you even bother to pick stuff out for us. The skirt over the jeans would look awesome." She said seriously in response to what he said when he ruffled her hair. After this little cheer up session is when Nicholas decided he should get his affection out of the way.
However, he did notice the "softness" Mizuki was dealing with him. It reminded Nicholas of when he was a child and his Dad and him would have fake fights. The incredible pull back his father had during that period that was highly needed for it to be a fair play wrestling fight. Of course, those always ended up in him being tickled into submission. But, what Mizuki was doing was pissing him off. Unwritten rule of man friends: Even when messing with each other, you still have to have a good amount of roughness and a small bit of pain. It is always a competition. So when he was pulled off, he had the strongest urge to go back with two times the force and actually cause the older one pain. However, he didn't instead he went back to stand with his sister and gave her the katana he had laid at his feet before going at Mizuki. She accepted it hesitantly, softly for her brother seemed to being getting too much emotional stimuli for such a short period of time. This just aren't going well, eh? she thought towards her brother as she sheathed her weapon.
"Yes! We have to cut that door off first!" Kalila launched at the idea. It was a very video game concept. To make the bad things stop coming you take down the thing they keep coming from. " We should drop everything and cut that off first. I mean, we rather have an exact number of zombies to kill off than a never ending supply." She mumbled, realizing she was too energetic about the idea. She let Mizuki continue to layout his plan. However, he quickly came to the issue with Nina's group. Resulting in a wince from Kalila and Nicholas at the same time.
Kalila had been worried since they first were in sight of the Walmart. She hadn't seen a trace of Nina's group and the fact that they were much closer to the store than they were made her worry more. They should have been here first... Is it that horde they were fighting? Did it massacre them? Kalila thought. Nicholas was thinking a long the same lines. She put on a nervous smile.
"We should leave the front open... and block off everything else." Kalila inserted and Nicholas quickly nodded his agreement. "After everything is said and done we should stay near the front of the store so we can meet Nina's group immediately. Does that sound right to you guys?" she asked with her eyes darting to each member of their group.
"That sounds good to me." Nicholas piped up. "I mean, we would limit the number and be ready for Nina and them. Then, when they get here," He stressed, as if trying to convince everyone they were alive, as if someone opposed the thought. "we could exterminate the limited number." with a nod that metaphorically tied up the end of the issue. "But, I refuse to back up this changing and getting clean business." be said and this time Kalila nodded in agreement.
"I'm getting jealous and more jealous every time I try to comprehend just how much more cleaner you are than me..." She said to Mizuki.
Ada listened and looked back and forth from person to person during the conversation. She knew a couple things for sure, if anyone tried to pull any stunt in the name of procreation she would kick their @$$. She would decide that for herself, because it was her body. Nikita was realizing, through this whole time with his group, just how innocent this group really was, and it mad him feel out of place. And speaking of lack of innocence, the young man was absolutely ecstatic about procreation. Well... As long as he didn't have to lay any ugly chicks. Otherwise, he was more than thrilled. When it came to the plan, Ada was fine with anything at the moment; as long as they were safe. As for the Nina girl, Ada held respect for her from Kalila's talk of her even though she had never met Nina personally. She thought the girl who planned out the perfect survival would be a great asset to their group. Plus she heard their was a military man with her group. That was definitely a big plus. Nikita had no idea what they were talking about. All he knew from before was that Nina was friends with the siblings and they had some sort of rendezvous at this place. There was freaking out and he really didn't know why.
All the while, there was a good amount of action occurring at Alex's position. Nikita and Ada had spinned at the noises, but saw the miniature battle end quickly. Nikita realized just how much Mizuki wasn't kidding about the amount of infected in their vicinity. Alex came back and Eri sprinkled her corny affection on everyone. Ada smiled and shook her head. Nikita let out a laugh and commented on how they were family, they had to be to keep the human race from dying out. He said if they didn't treat everyone like family this point on that they were all screwed.
Kalila smiled nervously at Nikita's comment, she didn't want that subject to come back up. It seemed Nicholas didn't either because he looked wandered over to Mizuki and asked to look at the clothes he got him. Kalila's eyes were drawn to David as he messed with his phone and she started walking towards him as his face read "horror."
"David... David, w-what's wrong...?" Kalila whispered to him before anyone because she had seen it first. Eri asked almost immediately after she did and David didn't answer either of them himself. Instead he put his cell phone on speaker and let them hear for themselves. As soon as the recorded voice came on Kalila smiled. She had met Sarah before, not David, back when they use to go to school. She was the sweetest lady, a really good role model in Kalila's opinion. Nicholas knew her as "The lady who can't cook for sh*t" as he put it after tasting the brownies she cooked in comparison with David's. So he perked up at her voice, finding her a comfortable look back at the comfortable past. Kalila gasped as soon as the recorded voice of Sarah mentioned the front door being open. Like a suspenseful horror movie with a predictable, yet still scary storyline, Kalila knew exactly what was going to happen next. Nicholas really badly wanted to yell out, "Run, woman, RUN!" his clothing completely forgotten. However, he was able to repress the urge and instead looked at his sister.
As the message ended, Kalila's mouth was agape. She looked from the cell phone to David to see his reaction. He immediately spinned off down the isle.
"Where are you going?!" Kalila asked flustered. She didn't want him doing anything stupid. He answered her and was gone. She didn't stop him, because she didn't want to be a hypocrite. If there was one thing that got on her nerves about people's personalities, it was hypocrisy. If she was ever in a situation like that, if it was her Nicholas, Alex, David, or her parents, and she knew there was even a slight chance of them being alive, she would do the exact same thing. The closest thing would be if she were tempted by a phone call from her parents. Kalila shook her head and ran to Alex instead. She came to him and Eri hugging each other in an attempt at comfort.
"Holy sh*t dude..." was all Nicholas was able to do to express his surprise at the turn of events. He also walked to the huddled would-be couple and stood next to his sister. "I-I'm... I'm so sorry man." the younger one said awkwardly, but truthfully.
"Shh!" Kalila hissed at her brother. "She's not gone!" she said desperately. That invincibility she saw in her parents she saw in Sarah as well. She was a strong, tall, smart, beautiful woman, and if any woman should ever survive this kind of catastrophe, it would be her. "You have nothing to be sorry for." She said with narrowed eyes at her younger brother and then bent to Alex and Eri's level. "Alex... Alex!" Kalila raised her voice the second time because he wouldn't pay attention the first time. "Have faith in your mom! What kind of son doesn't have faith in their mom!?" She asked harshly. Sarah was an idol to her and idols didn't fall. However, even as she said it so stringently she hugged the young couple in a motherly embraced, leaning the two against her chest. Nicholas listened to his sister, walked back over to Mizuki, and mumbled under his breath something about her slowly losing it.
"This is chaos man... I can't think straight..." He complained to Mizuki. "Should we go on with the plan with out him, man?" He asked crossing his arms, his gun hung at his waist with the safety still on. He was wondering if he was feeling too comfortable and if their position was as safe as they were treating it. We've been making a lot of noise. he thought as he looked down at the weapon and debated taking it up into arms.
"You're not a burden..." Kalila whispered in a dramatically kinder voice than the harsh tone she had just a few moments earlier. She wasn't crying, because she didn't believe the woman was gone, but she felt a huge amount of empathy for him. She had gone through the exact same thing just a few moments earlier. Your world's crashing down around you at the moment, isn't it? she thought, from experience.
Ada was taken aback by the situation, and it was so bad even Nikita was feeling sympathetic. Nikita decided since no body was on their guard, he would. He took his hand out of his pocket and in general stopped looking lazy. He hefted up his gun and cocked. The noise mad Ada turn towards him. Ada wasn't good with emotions because she was raised with a bunch of older brothers. She was taught to be tough and not give into such sissy emotions. She and Nikita inched their way closer to Mizuki and Nicholas because they seemed the most steadfast at the time. Ada whispered to them that they shouldn't let their guard down. She said they were one man short him moving from their position just highlighted their position. Nikita nodded and added that they should probably continue on with the plan or get to the front of the store. He said either way they shouldn't waist time. Ada nodded adding that they should let the mourners mourn and the comforters comfort, but the ones who didn't fall under that should be off.

[[You got it all on timing, at least as far as I can tell...]] Alex looked up at Kalila's voice. Tears still running down his face, he smiled. He did beleive in his mom. It was just, something about the message made him think she was dead. What if Kalila's right?... What if mom really is alive?... A little voice in Alex's head said. Then he felt another embrace. Looking over, the tears in his eyes slowing, he saw Kalila again, this time she was hugging them. A motherly hug... Alex looked down, about to start crying again. He took one arm off of Eri, and put it around Kalila. He did have friends, and they weren't going anywhere. The tears from his eyes were dramatically less now, but his sobbs didn't show it. He was trying to regain his breathing, steady it. He began to steady it, he looked at both Eri and Kalila, "Thank you..." He said to both of them. Alex stood up, his arms still around them, pulling them up with him. Waiting for them to stop hugging, he pulled his arms off of them. He had a really serious look on his face. His eyes were puffy and red from crying, this combination made him look like he was really fu**ing mad. He looked around, then smiled. Best case scenerio... He started to himself. Dad comes back with mom, neither of them have a scratch, and Nina's group follows shortly after. He thought. But, worst case scenerio, My mom's already dead, my dad comes back as an infected, and Nina's group doesn't come. Alex thought, still the serious expression on his face. And anything inbetween He thought. Expressing his thoughts to the rest of the group, he wiped what little water from his face that was still there. After he was done expressing his thoughts, he said, "So we should fortify everything except the front door. If neither my dad, nor Nina's group is here in a day or two, we should just continue without them." Alex said, with his face reveiling no emotion.
David smiled down at Sarah, he was SOOOO releived to he her. He hugged her close to him.
Sarah started to cry, she was so sure that both David and Alex were infected now. Her crying stopping ubruptly, she looked up saying, "Where's Alex!?!"
"Don't worry... He's safe." David said, not expressing the details because, He's with a group of teenagers at wal-mart. wasn't very comforting.
Sarah smiled, she was glad to hear it. She huddled against him.
David looked down at Sarah. Her face was scratched to heck and back, but otherwise she looked fine. Her clothes were a little ripped too. She was wearing a pink oversized T-shirt, and a pair of sweat pants. The only part of her clothes that wasn't cut, was her white doctor's coat. David smiled at this, She never let anything happen to her lab coat He thought.
Sarah hugged David, then she smelled something, pushing away from David, she said, "Dude, you reek!"
"Well we've been fighting infected... and in case you haven't noticed, they don't smell all that nice." David said, sticking his tongue out at her.
"Alex has been fighting infected! He's Ok right!" Sarah said, always the more worried of the two parents.
"I told you, he's fine." David said, hating to repeat himself. David turned around, about to walk out. He looked back at Sarah, and she followed. He walked down the hall way, handing Sarah and uzie.
Sarah looked at the uzie with discust. She never liked guns as much as David or Alex.
As David and Sarah walked down the hallway, David used his one free hand to grab his wifes butt.
Sarah didn't push David away, in fact she liked the familiar feeling. Laughing, she said, "I missed you too."
After walking about 3 doors down the hall from where David had found Sarah. Going in the room, there were a bunch of screens and a console. It was a security room. Looking at the screens David was suprised to see no infected in the house, except the ones he had already killed. Pressing a button, a huge metal shutter covered the front door, making the house completely infected proof. Looking back at the cameras he sighed at the sight of his old room's camera. That camera had ruined his relationship with all of his girlfriends... Except Sarah.
Walking out of the security room, Sarah followed. They walked down the hall a little further, and went into David's old room.
David looked at the room. It was filled with clothes all David's size. His parent's had always expected him to break up with Sarah, and come back to them, this however never happened. He looked and realized he was still holding the clothes Mizuki had given him. David kept the jeans, but got rid of the shirt. No offence to mizuki but David didn't really like jumpers. Pulling out a green T-shirt for him, he got a light blue T-shirt, and another pair of sweatpants for Sarah.
Sarah looked at David when he handed her the clothes. She got the message... Lose the pink! Is what she thought David meant. Walking out of the room with David. They walked into the bathroom, and took a shower together. (I'm gonna spare you all the details)

Eri sighed in relief when he finally calmed down. When he got up she was surprised by the sudden movement. When he let go she let go too. She listened to his thoughts and sighed. "No... it's most likely your dad comes back with a silly grin on his face, your mom with him, and the others come." She said, smiling like a little kid. She didn't want him to be down in any way, so she made sure he'd keep a smile. "And then we can make pie." She grinned. "Hmmmmm?" She smiled and hugged him. "So..." She wiped her eye. "Let's keep a smile." She nodded when he said his plan. "Okay.. I don't approve leaving people behind though.." She said softly, pulling her hair out of her face. She looked around. "So.... Who here thinks The plan is okay..?" She said. "I'm okay, but against leaving David behind..."

Alex looked at Eri. He admired her enthusiasm. He smiled when she mentioned pie. She was just trying to keep him from being down. She hugged him, catching him slightly off guard. As she hugged him, his center of balanced shifted, causing him to nearly fall over. He wasn't against the hug, wrapping one arm around her, so she didn't feel like she did something stupid, or that he didn't want her to hug him, he let his other hand hang loosely at his side. "Ya... Pie." He said with a laugh. As Eri said she was against leaving people behind. Alex looked at her, he wiped the remnents of a tear off her cheek, mostly to get her attention. "My dad went to my grandparents house. It's not too terribly far from here. So if he's not back in two days, he's dead" Alex said, trying to keep a smile on his face but failing. "Other then that key detail, anyone have any better suggestions?" Alex asked, looking from one person to another in the group. His eyes were still puffy from crying, but it was slowly fading. Soon you wouldn't be able to tell he had at all... Besides the wet marks on the top of his shirt where his tears had soaked into his shirt.
David put on his shirt, he felt GREAT! He was now squeaky clean, wearing new clothes, and with his wife. The only way this could get better is if Alex was here, and there was no infection.
Sarah tugged David, she wanted to go see Alex. David wouldn't budge.
"I need to get a few things." He said, walking off, Sarah shortly following.
Sarah watched as David grabbed a rather large back-pack.
David grabbed a back-pack, he was going to fill this with stuff they could use at wal-mart but wouldn't take with them when they left. While looking for stuff, he noticed his wife was holding a rather large, metal, suitcase. "What's in the suitcase?" David asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Just some stuff I brought from the lab... A microscope, a few chemicals, beakers, syringes." She said, mentally checking off the items as she said them, "and a few other things." She continued unable to remember everything.
"Ah... good call." He said, grabbing a portable generator. Stuffing it into the bag, he walked into the cellar. It was where David's parents stored all their wines. Grabbing 5 bottles of the finest red-wine he could find, he laughed as Sarah rolled her eyes at him.
Sarah looked at David. She knew he wasn't a big drinker, in fact he only drank during stressful times, or on special occasions, like birthdays, or New Years.
David put the wine into the bag, and grabbed a few other things. All together he had 5 bottles of wine, a portable generator, 5 flashlights, a few packs of batteries, 2 pistols, and all the ammo he could find for the pistols. Giving his wife a pistol he took back his uzie. The pistols both already had silencers. He would give the other pistol to Eri if she wanted it... she was basically usless with only a knife. Giving his wife half the ammo, and putting the other half in the bag, he put it on his back.
Turning the safety on, Sarah put the gun in her pocket, and looked at David as if asking why.
David sighed, putting his hand on her shoulder, "I would feel better if you carried a gun... I thought I lost you, I don't wanna have to go through that again." David said.
Sarah looked David in the eyes. She wrapped her arms around him and started kissing him.
David kissed back. Thinking it was good she was ok.
Sarah pulled away from David, "Can we go see Alex now?" She asked, knowing she could get anything out of David by seducing him a little.
"Ok..." David said walking to the front door.

[[I'm bored... So here's a little David and Sarah...]] David opened the front door, just cracking it enough to peer outside and make sure no infected were waiting. There were none, at least as far as he could see.
Sarah watched as David looked outside cautiously, she kept up her guard.
David saw nothing, so he opened the door all the way, slowly.
Sarah followed David, looking around to make sure nothing caught them off guard. They got to the car, Sarah getting in the passenger seat, knowing that David would want to drive.
Sarah knew David all to well, she was right, David did want to drive. Getting in the seat, he turned the key, which he was suprised to find in the ignition. Pushing down the brake, he set it into reverse. When he was far enough away he put it into drive and started driving. David decided he would take the long way around to Wal-Mart. He wanted to avoid the mob of infected at all costs, and he also wanted to catch up with everything he missed at the lab. Starting the conversation he said, "So, in your message you said that you found out some really interesting stuff at the lab?"
Sarah looked at him, happy he had asked. "Yeah, we found out alot. For example, it takes 14 days for and infected to starve to death, give or take a day or two."
"Really?" David asked. He never really thought of the infected starving to death.
"Oh yeah, after 11 days of no food, they will essentially go blind and their hearing and smelling will decrease, by this point they may resort to eating trash, or other infected, to survive." Sarah said, thinking about all David had missed. Even though he had only been with Alex for a day, he had left the lab almost 5 days ago. "After 11 days with food however, and infected will go completely color blind, but their smelling and hearing will increase nearly 2 times. They basically become human eating blood-hounds."
David didn't like that, it meant that in another week and a half they would have to deal with either retarded infected, or super infected...
Sarah continued, "However, as you know, we had a limited number of infected at our disposal, so we were unable to get anymore data after that." Sarah sighed, she had been studying the infected with David before the outbreak, under military surrvailance. "Well, that's all I can remember at the moment." Sarah started, a smile on her face. "What's new with you and Alex?" She asked, staring at David intently
David sighed, half the news she probably wasn't going to like, "Well first and formost, we are in a small group of..." David counted on his fingers, "six people, not counting me and Alex."
"That's all, I was sure you would be able to find more people..." Sarah said slightly suprised.
"Yeah well they say they have friends on the way. All together we have... Ada, Nikita, Eri, Mizuki, Kalila and Nicholas." David said.
Sarah's eyes lit up when she heard Kalila and Nicholas's names, "They're alive! YAY!" She said over enthusiastically. She remembered Kalila as being Alex's friend, she was such a sweet girl, and Nicholas... Well, she remembered him criticizing her cooking.
David was suprised by her reaction. He slouched over, "So Alex introduced you to them but not me... I FEEL SO BETRAYED!" He said, pretending to cry.
Sarah laughed.
David continued, "OH, and one of the people in the group said they liked Alex!" Knowing she would be interested.
"REALLY!" Sarah said, her stare starting to peirce David's ego. "Does he like her!?!" She asked.
"I think so..." David said, starting to wonder it himself.
"Ahh, my babies first love!" She said, sitting back in her seat. "He's growing up so fast..." She continued, she was just as much interested in Alex getting a girl as David. The only difference is that she didn't constantly push him.
"Yeah..." David said, sure she wasn't going to be happy to hear this news. "One problem."
"Problem?" She said, confused. "I'm sure it's nothing we can't work around... What is it?" She said, still sceptical.
"Yeah... She's partially infected." David said, waiting for her extreme reaction.
"WHAT!?!? NO NO NO NO NO!" Sarah screamed, shaking her head side to side with each no. "MY BABY IS NOT GOING TO FALL IN LOVE WITH AN INFECTED!!!" Sarah shouted, her head still shaking side to side.
David laughed, "Change the word infected to peasant, and you have exactly what my mom said when I told her I was in love with you..." David said, knowing she wouldn't like to be compared to his mother.
Sarah glared at David, punching him so hard in the shoulder, it caused him to almost swerve out of control, "Don't compare me to your mother." She started, saying, "Being poor and being infected are two totally different things..." Then she sighed, "I just don't want Alex getting hurt... Getting emotionally caught up with someone who we will have to kill eventually..."
David smiled, "That's why..." He started. "we have to find a cure." David said. David beleived in true love, he knew you couldn't stop it, and unlike his parents he didn't want to learn that the hard way.
Sarah sat blankly, having no snappy come back... "A cure..." She said, still hiding all emotion. She recoiled slightly, remembering something. "That reminds me." She said, opening her suit case.
David looked over to her, slowing his driving. Despite the rather long conversation, the root they were taking took a long while, and they were only half way there, at best.
Sarah pulled out a medium sized container, filled to the brim with a slightly flourecent blood-colored liquid.
"What is that?" David asked, never before seeing any chemical with that kind of coloration.
"It's something else we found out about the infected." Sarah said, her face giving away nothing.
"A CURE!?!" David asked, full of hope.
"No..." Sarah said, wishing she could say yes to David. "However this container is filled with a vaccine that elongates the time it takes for the infection to fully take over. The vaccine basically gets rid of the virus for 24 hours, but after that it comes back." She looked at David, "During the time the vaccine is in effect the person cannot infect another human being."
"Can it be used more then one time on one patient?" David asked, wanting to know all about it.
"Yes, it can. It can be used as many times as you have enough for." Sarah said, ready to answer anything David had to ask.
"Does it work 100 percent of the time." David asked, thinking it was too good to be true.
Sarah sighed, here was where the bad news started. "Actually no... It has three affects." Sarah said, holding up three fingers. Putting down the first finger, she continued, "The first is, it works. The second is, it doesn't work. And the third and final is..." Sarah stopped looking down.
David looked over at her... Why did she stop David thought.
"They die." She said.
David felt his heart skip a beat. Could he give that to Eri... If she died Alex would never forgive them. It also conflicted with his hippocratic oath, I will neither give a deadly drug to anybody who asked for it, nor will I make a suggestion to this effect. David was having a conflict. Thinking of which, could he give it to Mizuki. Sure he didn't like him, but Kalila would kill him if he hurt Mizuki...
Sarah looked back up saying, "But only 16% of people who took it died. Also, if it works the first time, it will continue to work every time they take it afterwards. Same for if it doesn't work, it will never work on that patient."
The numbers didn't make David feel any better... 16% is one out of six. Which meant if David gave it to six people, chances were pretty dam* high one of them would die. "Is that all that happens, is it works, it doesn't work, or you die..." David said.
Sarah sighed. "No..." Sarah said... the news just kept getting worse. "If it works, there are three more things that go bad... When injected, you feel an excrutiating pain as the vaccine spreads through out your whole body. The pain goes from the point of injection, through your whole body, and lasts for about 10 minutes. After about 5 minutes, they become really tired, due to the insomnia brought on by infection wearing off. The last effect is the raising of the person's temperature, due to their immune system getting a jump start." She said, hating that part of the injection... "However this only happens the first time. The second time, they don't feel the pain, but the other two affects still happen."
David listened intently, still not liking the idea of them dieing.
Sarah continued, "If the vaccine doesn't work, they will feel a slight pain, as the vaccine fails to make its way through their system. That's it... and if they die... the only side affect is death..." Sarah said shrugging her shoulders.
"How did you make this vaccine?" David asked, very curiouse to see if they could make more.
"It was actually very simple, just combine the blood of two half-way infected people, a few common painkillers and such... and a few other chemicals I brought with me." Sarah said, patting the now closed suit case.
"So we can make more." David smiled, his wife was so smart, one of the reasons why he married her.
"Exactly!" She said.
David looked at the road a serious look forming on his face. "Fine, we'll give it to the infected people... But under two conditions." David said.
Sarah recoilled. "People?" She asked.
"Ya, besides the girl, there is a 19 year old... Whom Kalila is in love with..." David said.
"Well we have enough to give 12 or so doses... so, that's equivilant to 6 days for two people, if it works... what are the conditions?" Sarah asked, raising an eyebrow.
David sighed, "We must have the approval of the people we are giving the injection to."
Sarah shook her head yes, she had planned that anyway. "The second condition?"
David continued, "We must have the approval of a few other people..." By saying this David meant that in Eri's case they would need the approval of Eri, Alex... and maybe Ada and Nikita... And in Mizuki's case, they would need the approval of Mizuki, Kalila, and maybe Nicholas. Neither David or Sarah would have a say, they would need to remain impartial. In the case of Eri however, David would probably disregard Ada and Nikita, saying it's for the greater good... but without Eri or Alex's consent he wouldn't do it... David stopped the car, they were in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Turning off the engine, he sat there thinking, waiting for his wife to answer. They would wait in the car for a second.
"Deal, we will get the consent of whoever you want before delivering the vaccine." Sarah said, pretty certain of who he was going to ask, but still not completely sure, considering she only knew Alex, Kalila, and Nicholas. She sat there, waiting.
David sat there, he had no intention of entering the store just yet, he would wait.

[This'll be pathetically short and crap. Sorry. Suffering with a mixture of illness and exam related issues. This is just an attempt to bump the story back up to present time.]
Mizuki stared across the scene in a complete and utter shocked silence. Seeing David cry was something deeply disturbing to Mizuki for some reason. After opening up to David - Mizuki kinda felt like he was keeping his Father alive by subconciously pretending that David housed within him a tiny piece of his otosan.
Mizuki remembered well the one few times his Father had cried. Once, maybe twice. Used to his father's strength witnessing him display weakness had been like witnessing something . . .wrong.
And now, even though Mizuki knew that David wasn't his father, he felt that by watching him cry . . . it was unnatural. It was . . . sickening.
His hand flitted to touch his stomach, almost like a small child would indicate not feeling feel.
Feeling the almost alien brush of his own fingertips against the fabric of his shirt Mizuki looked down. His eyed widened and his skin paled for a moment as he realised with true horror just what he was feeling.
Was he really disgusted in David for crying? His eyes narrowed to hard slits burning with shame. The guy might have lost his ******** wife! And here he was, selfishly scorning the man for not playing the part of his father right.
Mizuki raised his eyes to the ceiling for a moment.
Dad's dead. He thought simply. Get over it.
But even in his own head the words lacked conviction. This left Mizuki feeling worse than ever. How could he really be so self involved? Even as Mizuki lowered his face to confront the scene before him - David ran off.
Mizuki made an involuntary step forwards before he even realised what he was doing. Mizuki looked down at his own foot in shock and despite the desperate nature of the moment a confused and half amused smile crept into the corners of his lips.
I really don't know myself at all, do I?
But as before. These thoughts lacked any conviction. Instead they giggled their way into his mind and flitted straight back out again.
He really had been going to stop David. To comfort him. But thinking about it, what could he have really done?
A loud wail reached his ears and Mizuki percieved Alex fall to the ground in floods of tears. He froze inside for a moment. Looking at the child so helpless and weak his initial thought was; Was that how I looked to David?
It was at this point that Mizuki felt it was his duty to comfort the other boy. Almost as if he was indebted to David for putting up with him when he was in a similar state. He motioned towards Alex, but at the same time Eri enveloped him in a hug. Mizuki looked at the pale girl for a moment and for the first time without any hate or disgust clouding his vision. This time he saw her for a human being. Watching the way she hugged and comforted Alex, Mizuki felt an almost sort of gratitude towards her. He wouldn't have known the first thing about having to comfort anyone. For Kalila, all she needed was a hug occassionally. Mizuki could give that. But this grief seemed deeper and more painful. He would have been waaaay out of his depth. He cocked his head as he regarded her embrace him.
She's probably doing it better than I could anyway.
As Alex spoke about Pie, Mizuki grinned.
"I wouldn't count your dad out so quickly." Mizuki placed a hand on his hips and met Alex's puffy and reddened eyes with a certainty. A small grin had begun upon his lips. Reaching up he impatiently pushed a lock of hair out of one of his eyes and treated Alex to a full smile. It held within it a sort of charismatic charm that seemed above Mizuki's normal capability to possess.
"You watch. He'll strut back in those doors anytime soon and demand to know where his fabled pie is."
There was an air about Mizuki that was confident and final. As if he was stating fact other than opinion.
But behind his smile his mind was frantically buzzing away.
Jesus David. You never died when I wanted you too - don't let all that down now!

[[I hope you get better Metzli!]] Alex looked a Mizuki. Alex was rather suprised by how Mizuki showed confidence in his dad. I thought you didn't like him? He thought. Even so, Alex was happy that Mizuki was trying to comfort him. "Yeah... my dad is brobably on his way here right now."
Speak of the devil, David was about to get out of the car. Looking over at Sarah, he smiled as she appeared half asleep.
Sarah was struggling to keep her eyes open, she only slept on and off a little bit for the past four days. She could see David looking at her out of the corner of her eye. Turning towards him she smiled.
David smiled back, "Come on, we're going in."
Sarah's eyes opened fully, soon she would get to see her son again. She hadn't seen him for two weeks. She really missed him, and the first thing she was going to do is hug and kiss him all over!
Opening the door to the car, David stepped out, looking around to make sure an infected didn't sneak up on them.
Sarah followed suit. She put her fists up, standing in a posistion like she was ready for a boxing match.
David looked over at her, rubbing his shoulder, he knew from experience how hard she could hit. Walking around the car, David had parked a distance away from the door, and looking back to it, he probably should have parked closer.
Sarah looked over her husbands shoulder, unknown to him, and infected was rushing up behind him. Ducking around him just in time, Sarah dodged the infected's claw, and proceeded punching it three times. First in the center of the chest, second in the stomach, and third in the neck, each hitting one pressure point on the infected.
David watched in awe as his wife proceeded to pummel the infected, after the three punches the infected grabbed its chest, as if it was having a heart attack or something, and let out a loud roar.
Alex looked around as there was a loud roar, it sounded like it had come from outside.
Sarah continued the onslaught of attacks with a roundhouse kick, unlike normal roundhouse kicks however, as soon as her foot made contact with his face she pulled it her foot down towards the ground, bringing the infected's face with it. Smashing her foot hard into the ground, smashing its head like a watermelon.
David stared, his mouth agape, at his wife. After watching the onslaught of attacks that looks like it came straight out of a videogame, he smiled. She'll definately be a save on ammo... David thought.
Scraping part of the infected's brain of her shoe and onto the black top, smiling back at her husband as if nothing had happend she tugged on his sleeve, pulling him towards the store.
David followed his wife after he lost the initial awe of what had happend. Walking into the store, he looked around. He couldn't see the group.

((Sorry it's taking so long for each of my posts... Please be patient with me -_-'...))
Kalila patted Alex on the back as he hugged her and Eri together. She looked down her front to see the tears flow from both Alex and Eri. However, tear wise, Alex was calming down a bit, though he was still sobbing. Then, all of a sudden, Alex raised all of them to a stand; it was a symbolic proving of his feeling a little bit more confident, Kalila liked to think.
"No problem, Alex... Keep your hopes up. For now, it really all we got." Kalila said looking up at her younger friend. She could feel a bit of the hypocrisy emanating off her and had the strong urge to punch herself for being such a sissy when she was put to the test. "Don't be like me... Be strong, man." she said as she let go of him, created a space between them, and patted him on the arm, similar to the fashion of what Nicholas did to Mizuki.
Mizuki was looking ill when Nicholas had arrived next to him. The young man didn't answer him and instead kept concentration on Alex. Little tings of suspicion and doubt of Mizuki's level of healthiness washed over him as he observed his friend. He looked at Alex as well.
The siblings listen from their separate positions as Alex re-enforced his plan and opinion. He was back into the "I'm a bad@$$ fighting zombies" mode he was in before, only it was multiplied a couple times. As in the movies, when a character has lost someone dear there were only three paths for Alex to travel. 1) Become a crying mess that doesn’t fight back and let’s death take him. 2) Become a crying mess that fights back with everything they have without thinking things through as clearly as before (This was similar to the path Kalila was in the process of taking before. the only thing that held her back was the fact her brother was still alive.). Finally, 3) he could become a bad@$$ zombie killing machine that kicks @$$ and takes names. For now, it was looking like Alex was taking the last route. Eri expressed her opinion.
"Sounds good to me." Kalila said as she looked down to her Mary Jane-clad feet. "You mean continue fortification? We're not going anywhere anyway... I'm pretty sure we're staying in this place. If their two day time period's up... All they have to do is be lucky enough to gain our attention. You know what? Never mind: If we wanted to we could even set up a system that allows people from the outside to access the intercom system in here." Kalila said peeking up from the ground to look at Alex and Eri and then switching her view to Nicholas, Mizuki, and the cousins. Nicholas frowned a little and then shrugged.
"I see why not... all we have is an excess of time on our hands, right?" Nicholas said crossing his arms behind his head. "The thing is too complicated for a zombie's mind to comprehend... A person talking over an intercom doesn't really compromise our safety in any way. The sound comes from everywhere... Even if we were stealthing it out... They might even get even more confused. It works." He finished simply. "Feh... I doubt he won't be back in two days." Nicholas added, agreeing with Mizuki. "Are you kidding me? He maybe loud when he's not suppose to... and blow cover every. single. time." He said clenching his jaw in frustration. "But, he always recovers for it with skill." He said with a relaxed jaw. This caused both Kalila and Ada to shake their head and laugh a little.
Ada watched each person as he or she expressed his or her agreement and opinion. She was about to express her opinion when her younger cousin beat her to it. Nikita agreed with the plan generally, however he had his doubts about the intercom system. He said it would make them a charity case. All survivors around the area would come to the Walmart for safety. More people then they already had and were going to have if Nina's group came would make the risk of an infected person making it into their ranks higher. He sighed and said they already had to and didn't need anymore.
Ada caught the slip up quickly and elbowed Nikita. She hoped Mizuki didn’t catch that. Eri had known he was infected and she was infected, so they had reason to believe he was infected. However, his miraculous recovery baffled everyone. Ada wanted him to believe that no one suspected him. It would create less hostility. She quickly spoke her opinion. She said she was fine with everything. After all, David was a scientist he could easily tell if someone was infected or not and Eri could help. They could just shoo them away if they were.
"I see no problem with getting more people together!" Kalila said crossing her arms after Nikita was done. She frowned at him even more as he expressed his belief in Mizuki still being infected. "We need to start fortifying... Let's start our way from the back, since we're closer to the back anyway... We'll fortify our way up. We should probably split in half or stay together." She said as she unsheathed her katana. Nicholas picked up his gun as a cue.
"If we split it means we're depending more on stealth than on power... If we don't split, we're depending on power. What sounds good to you guys?" Nicholas asked a she looked at everyone. Hmm... If we did split... How could we keep our strengths equal... We wouldn't want one weak party. He thought as he tried to divide everyone up thus in his mind.
"Wait a MINUTE!" Kalila blurted out, squeezing the hilt of her katana tightly in nervousness. "I left the walkie-talkie up in the front... What if Nina tries to contact us. Or maybe we should contact Nina..." she said as she started to pace just a little.

Eri looked around as everyone expressions and listened to the opinions, but it was as if she wasn't all there. She blinked, looking around. "Huh..?" She had a pounding headache, and could not concentrate. "What'd you say..?" She looked at Alex, then looked down. 'Oh god I bet I look like an idiot....' she sighed. "Sorry... kind of out of it..." She said, rubbing the back of her head. "Hahah..." She said, laughing nervously. "Ha..." She was worried inside though. 'Is my condition getting worse...?'

Alex looked at Eri, then back at the rest of the group... Was she getting worse... Then he heard his remark about his dad ALWAYS blowing their cover. "He doesn't ALWAYS blow our cover..."
As if right on que, trying to prove Alex wrong, David put his hand up to his mouth, and whistled, causing it to echo throughout the whole store.
Alex turned quickly, pulling the tigger of his gun, as the infected who didn't try and eat him made a break for the noise... Alex hadn't just yet made the connection between Loud noise and Dad.
Then David yelled, "YOU ALL STILL ALIVE!?"
Sarah didn't say anything, she was thinking her husband was an idiot, and probably attracted every infected in the place in their direction...
Alex listened, his eyes widening, without thinking, he yelled "DAD?!?" Only to quickly cover his mouth after releasing the word.
David grabbed Sarah's wrist, and started running to where the noise came from. Turning down the aisle, he felt releived to see the entire group in one piece... He seriously overestimated how long he had been gone. Sarah was still standing on the other side of the aisle. David looked at the group sorta sad at first, then his face got a big smile again, when he pulled Sarah into the aisle, EXACTLY as he had Mizuki.
Alex's eyes widened, he had actually expected to not see her again. Taking his arm off Eri, he ran towards his mom, "MOMMY!"
David looked at the rest of the group happily.
Sarah pulled Alex against her, kissing his face like crazy.
Alex didn't care, he was rubbing his face against her.
Without asking anyone their names, she quickly looked at them, trying to figure out their names just by the information David had told him. Pointing at them as she said their names, she said, "Kalila, Nicholas..." Walking up to them, Alex still not letting go, she shook Kalila's hand, "It's good to see you again." Looking at the young pale girl, guessing from the way Alex was holding her before he took off for her, "You must be Eri..." Sarah pinched her cheeks, "YOU'RE SO ADORABLE! Too bad you're infected though..." She said, non-chalantly... Looking at the man near Nicholas, she took a wild guess, "You must be Mizuki..." Feeling his forehead, he was cold... "yup..." Looking at the last two in the group, she pointed at them as she said their names. "You must be Ada, and you must be Nikita... am I right..." The problem with Sarah was that she was very blunt most of the time... "David told me about you all on the way here..."
David sighed, walking up to Kalila holding the container of flourecent blood red liquid. Taking hold of her hand, he put it in it, sure she would be happy to hear this. "Do you know what this is?" He waited a couple of seconds, "It's a vaccine..." He said, sure he was getting her hopes up. "If mizuki is infected, we can use this, and then using this, we can find a permanent cure..." Looking back at Eri, "Same goes for Eri..."
Alex's heart skipped a beat while he was still holding onto his mother. "A vaccine?..."
Sarah sighed, "David's not telling you everything..."

Eri blinked when she saw David, almost running forward and jumping him, but deciding against it when his wife was pulled into view. She smiled slightly as Alex ran off and hugged his mother. 'Okasan.... I wonder where you are...' She thought to herself. "Probably gone too..." She muttered, sighing. She blinked when the woman suddenly came up and pinched her cheeks, making her go red. "Ah..uh..." She said. She hasn't seen a real mother figure. [[besides Ada...but that would be weird.]] She looked at Alex, and blinked. 'She knows I'm infected... and is still nice to me...?' She thought, slightly confused. She looked over as the woman correctly guessed the entire groups names. "....." She smiled. 'She's nice...' She looked to Alex, a slight smile on her face. She blinked when she saw the container, then her eyes went wide when he said what it was. 'V...vaccine...?!' She stared at it, then sighed when he said that they'd find a permanent cure soon. "So....it's not permanent.....?" She said when he looked at her, a saddened look on her face. She looked at Alex, then smiled sadly. "I guess it's better than nothing right..?" She said, smiling softly and laughing. She was so relieved it hurt... Then she heard What Sarah said and a questioning look came on her face. "There's something else....?"
