amestru looks hard at his little girl then at lyssan, who shrugs and smiles weakly.... i can't teach her anything, ame, can you? asks lyssan shaking her head....
he scratches his head awkwardly then sighs... well, that explains why she always seems to know when to hide now, doesn't it.... damn... where did that talent come from anyway... it sure the heck doesn't run in my family.....

sweet mother, no.... i actually welcome it... an untrained mage is a hazard... not only to those around him but to himself as well.... please, iffin ye can train her then do so... i can walk time's weave, but only those strands i've experienced.... lyssie is the same... and neither of us know the future... lyssie and i have far sight... but that's about it... and even so we only see those things to which we have some form of a connection... tam has that as well... i think that's why he gave kei those tokens... poor kid... he came back with me on one of me jaunts and when i saw what was happening i sent him home... a little too late i fear.... only the father of all knows what is to come of that..... had i taught him better... i'm sure he would have behaved himself more....

lyssan starts to walk to the door but her knees give out halfway there... she hangs her head and smiles grimly... the joker and i go way back, kerobian... way back....
he and jor used to seriously get on me case, but jor rarely meant the things he did... well almost never meant the things he did... there was a time when he did try to do me in... but it was loki's fault he got that angry in the first place... he befriended jor when no one else wanted to... made him feel welcomed and warm and somehow convinced him that i was the cause of all his trouble... that i will never forgive him for... never... that war between jor and i lasted for generations... and did far more damage than either of us could have dreamt of.... and all the time that laughing hyena sat up there in the clouds gloating over his triumphs... i won't let it happen again...
she looks back at kero and you see in her face the angry god she could become... tell jor to stay away... loki wants him back.... and he's using me to get at him... keep yer master away from here... far far away... promise me this?

Ly...yer brother figured it out a long time ago...soon after I became his apprentice...he won't be swayed by this...and he has already asked me to fight with you...which I will.

you two work on that, why don't ye, says lyssan thoughtfully... it may be a trump card up our sleeves.... i know for a fact that divination doesn't work well against gods... but he rarely takes the field himself... tends to send in the shock troops, iffin ye catch me drift... if the two of ye... her words are broke off by a streak of coppery gold as it collides with her in a fierce hug....
an old mage walks into the room behind the small dragonling... looking thoughtful and grim... if i had known we were flying into a war zone i'd have turned around well before we crossed yer borders, lyssan.... what the hell is going on here anyway?

*Kero takes his father aside...explaining the situation to his "pop" as Luciel pounces on Lyssan and starts wrestling. After it;s all explained, Kero sits down...and everyone's fur stands on end as a Lightning bolt sizzles into the room, colliding with Kero and revealing the whiote firred Hopian*
Alright, papa....surely that's getting old by now, Paladine...Hopian is here to help shore up the defenses...I need to give Shia her first lesson, then he and I are going questing...I have an idea...*Hopian groans...he has experience with Kero's ideas*...Shia...come on.
*Kero picks her up and carries her to one of the practice rooms, while Hopian shoots off and explores the defenses, helping them to shore up and tighten. Kero speaks to Shia*
Okay, little one...first lesson is meditation...an integral part of all sight-magic, and of magic in general....if you aren't calm and collected, the magic will control you, not the other way around...
*As Kero explains, Shia finds her eyelids drooping...Meanwhile, Luciel has buried himself in Lyssan's tails, falling asleep*

lyssan finds herself alone with fizban and luceil.... she sighs and decides not to move from the middle of the floor, and strokes the shining scales of the sleeping dragonling...
it wasn't my idea to have a war on me own turf, old friend... she says softly, thoughtfully....
fizban nods in return... no one uses their home as a battleground, lyssan... so what's the situation... for real... i suspect there's much ye haven't told kerobian... he's the impatient sort and we both know that for a fact... for one who has lived so long, he still jumps in feet first then thinks about how deep the water might be....
lyssan chuckles... oh yea... the big bad voidmage... little more than an overgrown kid at heart... but he can be serious when he needs to be... and his methods get things done... even if it seems he is ramming things through with a sledge hammer... actually i haven't kept anything back... well... maybe a fine point or two... like i've no energy to speak of... and must feed soon or go raving mad.... but i can't leave here either, not with things as they are... and no matter how much energy kerobian feed me it won't be enough... i need living energy... someone's life force... i'm a fool... m'lord... to allow myself to get put in this position after so many years of avoiding it....
