Has anyone seen the new Robin Hood movie yet?? I dont want any particulars, I just want to know if it is really violent??

I have not... I've been debating on whether I want to destroy my love for Robin Hood or not. I... dislike Russel Crowe, for he lacks the talent in acting I appreciate. Tonight is the night we become Great! The Stars are what gave us away!

my father told me that it is about the real man more than the legend. like the movie King Arthur. it caught my interest but if it is needlessly violent i dont know that i want to see it

Tonight is the night we become great!The Stars will show us the way! I don't really think you can say it's "about the man" when it comes to figures like Robin Hood and King Arthur. Neither have any fact about there ever being a man. Thus why they are still awesome.
And despite not being fact, that doesn't change that Arthur doesn't have a place among the nine Worthies either. XD Tonight is the night we become Great! The Stars are what gave us away!

true there is no historical proof that there was ever one man who claimed the name Robin Hood but it has been found in both french and english history that different individuals have been referred to under that title. the first instance was in the 1100's in france where there was a record that called a man Robin Hode. later in england Robin hood was a general title that was given to most thieves. but that chance that he was a nobleman who went against the king is unlikely which is the angle that the movie takes apparently.

sorry if i talk to much but i love history and this is the kind of stuff that i discuss with my father alot. The history channel is a fabulous thing

That means very little if they are found in both French and English references. After all, Arthurian legends are all over Europe. XD
The Nine Worthies belong to three... religious backgrounds.
Christians have King Arthur, Godfrey of Boullion, and Charlemagne. The Hebrew are David, Jacob and Judas Maccabeus. The Pagan being Hector, Alexander the Great and Julius Caesar.
There are female ones as well, however I lack knowledge on them. Tonight is the night we become Great! The Stars are what gave us away!

ok i am Christian and I get why Charlemagne would be considered worthy but what does Arthur have to do with Christianity?? If anything, when i think of the story of King Arthur, I am more inclined to think of things like magic and paganism. Not saying that is a bad thing but it is what I associate with Arthur.

Actually, Arthur was a christian, by legend, as were many of his knights (the holiest of them being Sir Percival and the other two whom get their hands on the Sangreal). lol i should be asleep. i have to be at work in 9 hrs and i have been up since 8:30 this morning. but i am working on a post for my other site and i promised my friend i would get it done 2 days ago. i refuse to go to bed until it is done.

Robin Hood was good. The movie was. More moderate than great. I like Russel Crowe. Gladiator and Master and Commander were perfect. The real reason I wanted to see this movie though was because of Cate Blanchett. She is my favorite actress. There is no contest in my book actually.
