 Moonkit
[Moonkit saw warmth behind her leaders gaze.
She flinched in surprise.
This she-cat was always so full of understanding and hope.
Moonkit blinked in affection.
But she thought sadly about her apprenticeship.]
I thought being a medicine cat was what Starclan wanted. but now.. I'm not so sure. she thought her gaze saddening as she looked on.

 "Thank you, Icestorm!" [Silverstar called after the two cats. Her gaze drifted back to Moonkit. Her apprenticeship is long overdue... Silverstar saw doubt cloud the kit's clear blue eyes. She realized that this kit was getting much older, much to quickly. Silverstar signaled for Moonkit to follow.] "Alone."

[Hope surged in Moonkit's heart.
But she knew from experience that she shouldn't eat the fresh kill before it's been caught.
So she just quietly followed Silverstar.]

[Silverstar padded into her den, hearing Monkit's soft steps behind her. The silver she-cat turned and sat neatly in her nest. She watched Moonkit's hopeful eyes, so full of criousity.] "Moonkit. I have seen your doubts. Is it true you are doubting your gift from StarClan? You are rethinking becoming the medicine cat? I know that your apprenticeship is long overdue, but it is not my power to perform the ceremony. You must speak to Starpelt. You will make a great medicine cat, Moonkit. If you choose that path, you will be one of the greatest known. You have a rare gift; you must learn to use it."

He yelled in response, though in a playful way, as Moonkit batted his ear. A few moments later Moonkit was padding away after Silverstar, and Hawkpaw completely understood why.
“Good luck, Moonkit!”
He called after her with much joy. Finally, she little she-cat would probably be apprenticized.

[Moonkit looked into Silverstar's eyes, only seeing a kind, understanding look.]
"I have no doubt of my ability Silverstar." she said proudly despite her trembling legs.
[With a plop she flopped down before continuing.]
"I -- I'm scared of leaving my friends behind. I.. I won't ever be connected to them as you are. I'd be outside of clan rivalries and no one will understand!" she cried out despairingly.
[Hawkpaw flashed to her mind and she looked down, ashamed.]

[I flicked my ears. Silverstar always knew the right words to say...I admired her strong leadership.
As I watched Moonkit pad away, I knew Silverstar would speak with her about her true gift to become the medicine cat. But then...it wouldn't be fair, would it? I knew she felt affection for Hawkpaw, but medicine cats were forbidden...
Besides, it wouldn't be any fun if she was automatically counted out.
My heart stopped. Wait, what? Put out...of what? A contest? Confused, my ears fell flat. What sort of contest was I thinking of? I couldn't understand it.
Well, a voice inside my head (that didn't seem to be my voice) said, what fun would it be if he chose you by default? You'd never know if he chose you over her.
Still, I was confused. Chose me for what? My other voice seemed frustrated, and sighed inwardly. I wondered if I had caught the Madness, talking to myself like this...]
I sighed, then said in a soft whisper to Hawkpaw, "I wonder if Moonkit will be medicine cat one day."
[I looked towards the sky.]
"I know it's her dream...and she's very good with memorizing the herbs," I added.
[My inner voice coughed, as if suggesting something.
I suddenly thought I understood a little.
I don't want Moonkit to be medicine cat so Hawkpaw will pay more attention to me! I said to it, almost disgusted.
Are you sure? What do you really feel for him?
Surprised, I found I had no answer.
Well, if one thing's for sure, I don't want Moonkit to be medicine cat because of...that. I want her to be medicine cat because she desperately wants to, and that's where her passion lies.
I was sure about that, if not anything else.]

I remember that when I was first brought into BreezeClan, she was nothing more that a fluffy silvery kit, and yet she still showed passion in finding out what every little blade of glass was called...I hope she does become the medicine cat one day.”
Saying those words made Hawkpaw wince inwardly. He had strong feelings for the she-cat, yet sitting here with Thunderpaw made him think twice about it. If Moonkit were to be the medicine cat, she'd be forbidden to even glance at Hawkpaw in the wrong way.

[Something stirred within me. The voice said, Ah, nothing is more painfull than unrequited love... I finally recognized it as my mother. I pushed her away angrily.
It didn't matter to me anymore. If Hawkpaw preferred Moonkit over me and she became medicine cat, I could never be with him. Not just for Moonkit. I didn't think I could ever be with someone who would have picked someone else, had circumstances been different. But mostly, it would hurt Moonkit to know that she could have had him. I could never hurt her like that. Even if I hurt myself preventing it from happening. I was just that way...unbreakingly loyal and honest.]
"Yes," I said fondly. "She healed me when I fought with a giant snake...I killed the monster, and it nearly killed me. I'm sure she saved my life."
[Surprised, I flicked my ears. I had almost forgotten about that...that had been when I had went out with Silverstar to look for a remedy for the poisonous flowers...a purr escaped my throat in the memory. Moonkit had saved my life then.
Well, I owed her even more now.
It was settled in my mind. If Hawkpaw wanted her and she decided to follow her dreams, it was over. I would never, ever betray her. She earned that, if not more, from me.]
(( Aaah, Thunderpaw's so like me. This is my personal rule and promise in real life, too. >> ))

Moonkit
[Silverstar didn't say anything, just rested her tail on Moonkit's back and licked her between her ears.
But that was enough.
Moonkit started to cry.
She missed the days where her future didn't seem as miserable, when she could just frolic in the daisies.
She couldn't bear to be around Silverstar's presence anymore, she knew she'd just get angry all over again and end up blaming her.
So she nodded at Silverstar, putting on her brave face despite her tears.
She padded out, tears still fresh and walked to a sunny patch.
She looked up to the aqua-blue sky, and closed her eyes, enjoying the warmth.]

Hawkpaw felt a involuntary purr rumble within him. He glanced at Thunderpaw out of the corner of his eye, wondering what she could be feeling right now. He'd detected a somewhat competitive spirit arrise within the she-cat when he made his feelings for Moonkit clear, and it'd troubled him ever since.
Just then, he saw Moonkit padding out of Silverstar's den. She was crying again, and Hawkpaw had a hard time deciding not to interfere for once...

 IceStorm returned to camp laughingly. She was happy that NightFlame had come and that they had a chance to talk. She really liked him. *Wait.. What? He is from a diffrent clan right?* She sighed. *If he was from my clan we would have been best friends. I'm glad to have met a strong warrior like him* She thought to herself. She looked up to find Hawkpaw and Thunderpaw conversing.

[I felt slight happiness hearing him speak those words, but I buried the feeling. I was going to keep my promise - I was going to be fair with Moonkit. No warriorship, no battle. I would not take Hawkpaw otherwise...it was unfair and unjust. All I waited for now was Moonkit's response...]
"Of course," I replied, purring slightly. "It is the same for me...you, Moonkit, Icestorm, and of course, Silverstar, are my closest friends...and I see you and Moonkit most often."
[I blinked and stared off into the sky. A strange sense of loneliness came over me again. That was only four cats...two of which I rarely saw. The other two, well...was a love triangle, I supposed. I had a terrible urge to bury my face into Hawkpaw's pelt and cry as a wave of frustration and sorrow came over me, and yet, at the same time, I was too tired to do so.
I sat there instead, staring into the sky and wishing things had turned out different. My face was blank, and my eyes simply filled with a thougtful gleam. The only sign of my unhappiness was my twitching tail.]
(( Augh, I think I might cry! D: It's so booful...;o; ))

Starpelt had overheard what Hawkpaw and Thunderpaw were saying,and those words made her feel sad because Moonkit's ceremony would be held another time.She saw Moonkit and padded over to her and laid down beside her with their pelts nearly touching."Moonkit,"[Starpelt said softly.]"I really wanted you to be my apprentice,but it must be held for another day.I sensed that you were unsure about your decision at some point.I know it must be hard to leave your friends just to become a medicine cat.But this isn't true.You can still have friends,but you still have to focus on your duty as a medicine cat.Tell me what's wrong and I'm sure we can work something out." [Starpelt held a gaze with Moonkit,waiting for her to tell her what has troubled her for so long.]
