She regarded her cooly. "As I've told you many times, the rest of your life depends on your marriage. I chose a good one for you, but it has become complicated. I thought him a man of good sense, but he seems to set on taking you to the desert. He also seems to be intent on you. What you did to him to bewitch him like that is beyond me... But since he is so intent on having you for a wife, you must convince him to stay here after the marriage. I need his lands to join with mine. If you fail, so help me... There will be no marriage for you now or ever. If you suceed, you may have your mother's dress. Now go."

she nodded and left, hot angry tears stinging her eyes. she thought about it and sighed as she walked down the cold halways. she just wandered before she said aloud "i'd rather die than stay here and as those appear to be my choices, i choose death" she sighed and wlaked to her room and closed the door, sitting heavily on the bed. she would not tell kaden what happened.

The King rested back into his chair, then went to his own chambers to sleep for the night. Kaden roamed his chambers, trying to think of ways to amend the situation with the king. "How could I have been so stupid as to let myself fight with him. Raylana's future is at stake.." He said to himself outloud.

He opened the door, and when he saw it was Raylana he ushered her inside. "Raylana, I'm so sorry. I ruined everything. I'll patch things up with him, and all will be well." He said embracing her as she entered.

she stepped away from his embrace, her eyes down. "no, kaden" she whispered "this is wrong my father wont back down and your people need you. it's not right for me to keep you here, your people are more important." she sighed heavily, fighting the signs of her tears. "it's best if you just leave."

Kaden looked at her with desbeleif. "How can I just leave you here? IF I leave, your comming with me." He said. "That argument with your father was just a snag. All will be well..." He said.

"no kaden all wont be well, no matter what i will remain imprissoned by my father it makes now difference." she said but then in a much quieter voice said "i dont deserve you anyways"

Kaden felt like going down the hall and strangling the King. He grabbed her hands, "Don't you understand? I need you to come with me. I need you to be with me." He lowered his own head, only to rais it again. "I can take you away from here. Tonight, we can go back to my country. We can be happy there."

He smiled and nodded. "Go to your room and pack whatever you need. Get clothes and whatever else. I'll go to the kitchens and get us some supplies..."

she nodded and ran off, quickly packing her things then returning to her room. she only had two changes of clothes and a few other items. "i only need one other thing" she said "but im going to need your help"
