Eric tossed the stick down the beach. Lawrence chuckled. " Savor the time of youth now. For soon enough you'll want to go back to it and won't be able to. You'll miss being carefree and taking naps once you get older. You have no worries. No massive school projects to juggle, no career possibilities to worry about, no relationships to maintain constantly," he said sighing. " my childhood just flew by. Don't let yours do the same,"

Peppermint sprinted down the beach to get the stick before picking it up and running back to Eric with it, showing it to him. "I won't, Lawrence!" Alex said and smiled. "I promise I'll sa....ummm...say...Enjoy my time as a kid!"

Eric took the stick oout of peppermint's mouth and continued throwing it down the beach. Lawrence smiled and nodded.

Peppermint took off down the beach again. Alex hugged Lawrence. "When I grow up, I wanna be strong and brave like you and Eric." Alex said and smiled.

Eric smiled. makes me miss my old dog, he thought. Lawrence's face went stoic. " You will be I know it. Just find something important to you that you will do anything to keep in our life. That's what keeps Eric and I so strong willed," he said. that, and months of military like training that would probably break an average man. Lack of sanity helps to, he thought. It feels weird having someone look up to you. Is it because I was a social outcast and worthless... No. I'm not worthless. Eric's depression bouts must be contagious,

Peppermint came back with the stick in his mouth, showing it to Eric. Alex smiled. "Thanks."

Eric pet peppermint. "Good doggy," he said retrieving the stick. He tossed it down the beach again. " ummm. You're welcome I guess," Lawrence said.

Peppermint raced down the beach to retrieve the stick and then ran back to Eric with the stick in his mouth. Alex spotted a crab and picked it up. "What's this thing?" He had never seen the type of creature before.

Eric continued playing fetch with peppermint. Lawrence rubbed his eyes and looked at the creature. " it seems to be a common crab. Be careful, those things can pinch with considerable force. They taste pretty good when boiled and seasoned," he said.

After a few more rounds of fetch, Peppermint yawned and laid down after giving the stick to Eric. The crab Alex had pinched his finger. "Owww!" He said and tried to get it off.

Eric pet peppermint and looked back toward the fire. looks like the dog is tuckered out. I'll give them a few more minutes and then head back. I should probably scout the jungle, but those bugs would be hell on my bare skin, he thought. Lawrence jumped slightly as the crab pinched Alex. He had to restrain himself from laughing. He slapped the crab off Alex with one hand.

Alex frowned and hand the finger that got pinced. Peppermint got up and licked Eric before looking towards the campfire.

Eric shrugged and walked toward Lawrence. He soon arrived at his location. He saw Alex was in pain. "What happened to..." " Crab," Lawrence replied. Eric nodded.

Peppermint laid by the fire and fell asleep, tired from his fetching game. "Crabs are mean." Alex said and frowned.
