Onyx dropped to the ground, the ground cracking audibly with the impact. Local, not Tarik's, fortunately. Or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it, he thought. He could smell Tarik faintly, so he had to be in the area.

"Yomma Kaw foo!" one of the soldiers said. "What?" Acos asked. "Who are you?"

"Guardians of hope and life," Onyx said quietly. It was the truth, and he suspected they had tales of it from their looks of surprise and near reverence.

"I think this group has a shaman, and he's looking to Tarik and his group; they had a head start, just enough of one to beat us here by maybe five or ten minutes at most," Onyx said with a soft growl. "How will we know if and when your friend finds this demon king?" Roarke said dryly.

Onyx exhaled, the only sign he gave before his hand flicked out, grabbing the spear in the warrior's hand. "Here's a tip: Don't hold the weapon like you're going to threaten us; we are coming willingly," he said, the spear bent to almost breaking before he released it as if it were nothing. It made several of the warrior shift warily.

Tarik decides to show these people that he is no ordinary person to mess with. He flies up the 30 foot wall to talk to their king and shaman. "You know why I have come. Your ancestors have foretold of my coming and that of the guardians. Give me what I seek and your village will not be harmed."
The Mayan King considers Tarik's request. He seemed to be hesitating.
In another part of the village, a boat is hurriedly loaded. A young woman gets ready to board with several warriors. The boat is ready for a long journey to the west.
The king replies to Tarik. "The stone you seek is not meant for you, or the guardians who come with you. It is promised to another of your kind. It will not be go to you or the others. It will only be given to the chosen one."

The shadows seem to meld from the pyramid behind the King, forming into Onyx. "So, you think to berate these people into giving up the spark stone; that can't be allowed, now here's an idea: Go away," he said dryly, annoyed.

Tarik casually throws a thunder bolt at Onyx. "I helped you get your stones. Do not cross me guardian. I will get what I seek."
The Mayan King is scared but needs to buy some time. He bows to Tarik and says, "Oh great demon god, do not be angered. I and my people are but servants of destiny. We will lay sacrafice to apease your anger, if this will sooth your angered soul." The king eyes the guardians and friends.

Sasori and the others were captured and brought to the village with everyone else. She hears the part about the Mayan King threatening to sacrifice the guardians to appease the demon god Tarik.
She objects, "Hey wait a minute. We are the the Guardians, you would sacrifice us for him?" she says pointing accusingly at Tarik. She tries to remember her history of the Mayan culture. She seemed to remember that they regarded sacrifice to the gods an honor. Hmm that was not good for them, not a great honor. However, to fight the Mayans and kill them was not a good thing either, they were protecting the stone for the guardian that is suppose to get the stone. A puzzling dilemma. Why does Tarik get to be a god and us not?
She looks around her and notices the hoops on the walls. The Mayans played games of a type of soccer/basketball that they challenged their enemies to a competition. With their powers, they could easily win.
She shouts out "I challenge your best warriors to that game you play with these hoops," she says pointing at the rings on the wall. "If we win, the demon king goes home with no sacrifice." "If we lose, you can sacrifice me. The virginal guardian girl. What say you?" she asks the Mayan King.

Tarik is amused that the Mayan King would ofer to sacrifice the guardians. Sasori's offer to fight the Mayans at their own game would be interesting to see. He of course would help the Mayans out. He was not opposed to spilling a little guardian blood.
The Mayan King is happy for the challenge. He accepts Sasori's challenge. He worries for his daughter, Princess Ixchel (Moon Goddess), who he has sent off on the most dangerous mission. The ballgame will be perfect to keep the Demon King occupied. He has his people assemble and prepare the rituals for the games. The ballgame is a religious ceremony, as well as a game of sport. There are ancient songs to be sung and chants, feasts to prepare, and for the loser, the ritual of sacrifice which is important to the Mayan people. The courtyard is prepared and the warriors are readied for the game.

The smell of the salty air could be smelled through the thick jungle. The heat did not do much to stop those who traveled with in it. Time was of the essence and one could not stop. The cloaked figure had led them to the beach. The waves crashed softly beating against the rocks way ahead. The figure turned slightly with her gloved hand she beckoned the Princess Ixchel to follow. Turning back she led them across the sandy beach her small feet leaving a trail of footprints as she went. She headed to a small boat that had been tied.
It was big enough for several people within it there were several small boxes of supplies quickly she beckoned those who followed her to climb upon the boat. Turning her head large blue-green eyes scanned the area quickly making sure no one had followed them. Giving the young princess a reassuring smile helped her inside the boat, "Your majesty.." she began in her melodic voice "This is as far as I may take you. You will be safe I will bless your journey and place safe guards for you to travel with ease." as she spoke she then pulled the weapon that hung on her back. "This is for you, It will protect you. I have asked my goddess to bless it and she has. Within the stone at the hilt a guardian will come when you are in dire danger."as she finished she began to untie the boat still her eyes remained watchful as she executed the task quickly.
Once she had untied the rope she pushed her hood back. Her blond hair glistened against the light of the moon. Her porcelain skin glowed by the bathing light of the moon. With little effort she began to push the boat in to the sea. Her clothing and cloak began to soak along its rims as she walked in to the water. Slowly she let the boat go, the waves began to pull in to the sea. The blond removed her gloves revealing small slender hands. Putting them inside her cloak she dipped her hands in to the cold water. The water glowed and glistened, long strings followed the drifting boat. The light surrounded the boat her safe guards settled within the small vessel. Protecting from any impending danger.

The Mayan warriors were readied. They were bathed in protective spells and charms by the shaman. Ancient prayers were chanted by the priests. The sacrificial alter was purified and cleaned. The Mayan King was proud if the bravery of the warriors that volunteered to play. He and they knew that their lives would be sacrificed at the end of the game for they were brave and skilled but were no match for the god-like guardians. They made their peace with their families and loved ones then went to the ball field. The game was extremely difficult, as the ball was small and the rings the ball had to go through without using ones hands had small holes and were 12 feet up the wall. It took a very skilled shot to win. The warriors were ready. The King blessed them. The game was ready to begin. Spectator sung ancient songs as they waited.
Tarik took a seat of honor at the end if the court near the judge.
