Siermana Spartan43736 I think that i qualify to the Goth culture ninja I think that you do not. It amazes me that most of you have the gall to call yourself a Goth when you don't even understand the point of this post. *cries* These are not guidelines for being Goth, they are not requirements, and they are NOT set traits that every Goth shares. If you cannot understand that, then you are not Gothic. I'm sorry, but it's true. The majority of people in this Guild are not what they claim to be. Unfortunately, there's no way to avoid getting at least some people who misread the first post. As much as I've tried to get people to understand, "This isn't a check list, this isn't a quiz", there will always be at least a certain number of people who just don't get it.

The guild is meant to spur discussion, and sometimes, the best discussions are started by the people who know the least about the subject at hand.

Emohff I liked reading the first post, it's interesting to see what style branched out from what and so on. Thank you. I'm considering adding to it as well, because it doesn't really get into some of the more nuanced aspects and influences. Krautrock, for example, was an early influence on the genre (one which is rarely creditted as such), and largely helped set foundations for the future goth club scene in Germany.

I know....THEY DON'T BLOODY GET IT!!! I don't know. It's the same with the "I'm half goth, half ______" crap. You can't "half like asparagus". You either do or don't. You can't be "half gay". You're gay, or you're something else. You can't be half goth. You either are or aren't.

You're gay, or you're something else. You can't be half goth. You either are or aren't. You have to go all the way here, this isn't like being half Japanese and half Norweigan. What the hell does emo-punk-goth mean???(Aren't there some contradictions in there?) Maybe this kid just doesn't know where he fits, he like different types of music (correctly classified or not) and doesn't know what to call himself, but you can like punk rock or whatever but it doesn't necesarily make you punk.....like me, I just enjoy some of it but am not going as far as calling myself punk. Hell, you don't have to be anything I guess, you can just like all the music you want without having to call your self a classic rock-gothic-punk-metalhead. That's just not right, you just like those generas, but being involved in the culture and lifestyle is somthing complelety different.
