I did rather like the book (I got it, and read it by now. duh.), and there were even a few chapters that I considered my absolute favourite from the entire series... i know it starts at chap 44... dunno how much farther than that, but 44 is my fav... Anita makes life epitomes! Yahoo!........ but... this wasnt one of my favourite books in GENERAL, however.
I dunno... I kinda hated the ending. 650 pages... didnt kill the bad guy. Never even saw him IN PERSON at the very least.
Honestly, I enjoyed the sex (who didnt? xd ) but the book seemed a little to focused on it. I mean, it was more like sexsexsex a little policework sexsexsex raise ONE zombie, this book sexsexsex conversation sexsexsex..........anti-conclusion. ...sex in the Merry Gentry series at least furthers the plot... i'm not entirely sure THAT MUCH was necessary... but, oh well. I did enjoy reading it, though. It's just not plot-motivated enough for me to be a fav, out of the series.
I honestly dont mean to dis anyone elses opinion, so please dont flame me - and I'm not trying to make you change your minds, i was just stating another POV. smile

I agree... the book seemed to be completely focused on getting Anita to have as much sex as possible, and it left two police cases unsolved! It seems strange, to me...

I'm not exactly liking the book. I got it last week, but I've only gotten to chapter 11. I flip around and it seemed like Jean-Claude was like seen starting in chapter 36! What's up with that? *I am obviously a JC fan.*

I finally finished it today. I loved all the extra power Anita got. I loved that there's a second triumvirate that she rules, but I agree that there is too much sex. It isn't really the sex I don't like, I love the fact that Anita has come to terms with her sex life. I love that Anita isn't having qualms about doing lots of people. But I really wanted more action and more story not 50 pages of sex and then 2 pages of action & story & then 50 more pages and 1 page of police work, etc. When I read the pre ardeur books, the action was sooo fast paced that you couldn't put each book down until you were finished. I mean the action took your breath away from one crisis to the next. But in this book especially it was one sex scene right after the other with very few crisises that didn't end in sex.
I also didn't like the open ended since of this. It was very much like the last Merry Gentry book. Very much not finishing the story. I don't know what is going on with LKH.
Don't get me wrong, I loved the book, I would just have liked it much better if there was more action and less focus on sex.

I mean, its not that the sex isn't interesting. It's just... it gets boring when you have it over and over and over and over again, then two seconds of police work, which never really gets solved. The ending bothered me too! At least the next Merry book comes out next Spring. Think about how long we have to wait to figure out what happens with Vittorio (which, coincidentaly, is a name for one of Anne Rice's Vampires... go figure)!

Ok was it just me, or did anyone else think that the scene near the end where Nathaniel is on a bed only wearing the apron and pearls Anita, funny.
I was a little upset with the ending, her not catching the bad guy. But it was funny about them having that little party in the end. I thought it was cute.
I think that this book was totally better than the last one. The last one had way too much cop stuff, and a lot of vampire stuff missing. I was so interested in seeing what would happen after the who Belle Morte thing. But then in this book she dident even really cover anything about it.

I loved the pearls! That was great!
I also loved how she found the perfect gift for every guy she was dating.
I agree about the vamp stuff, though. She went to all the trouble of introducing the Council to us, and having the whole Mommy-Dearest-waking-up thing going on, and Belle wanting to replace her, and then... nothing. eek sweatdrop crying gonk

I hope Ronnie isn't such a selfish b***h in the next book. I know she is upset about Louis, but gosh, she was annoying.

Was anyone else happy that Anita got over not doing furry? I love that she got over that barrier. I also love that Richard got some of her anger and fierceness. I love that! The only thing that could possibly make me like Richard again... him being like Anita, since I worship her! Perfect!!!

I finally get my hands on Incubus Dreams. I finish it (roughly 36-48 hours after getting my hands on it). And, of course, as soon as both those things are done you all are done talking about it. *laughs maniacly*
On a side note: Does this mean that the Incubus Dreams RP can move now?
