Yeah, I know what you mean. I have 3 brothers.

Shrian watched the entire time, not really paying much attention, but more reflecting on the past days' events. Everything had happened rather fast. But then, things always did for him. One moment you're walking idely along, the next, you have a Transcendant or two in your apartment for a few days. It was his life, and he really wouldn't trade ir for another. Even if he seemed a bit cold to strangers, he was rather nice, and kind as often as he could be. He liked helping Transcendants during the current near genocide. It made him feel not so alone.

He blinked out of his daze as she confronted him, snapping out of his thoughts. 'Wha...?' he thought slowly, his thoughts finally speeding up after a moment to answer her after his momentary bewilderment. "No, actually I was watching you out of curiosity. You seemed rather eager to cook; actually, you seemed like you had to cook. It just seemed a bit odd to me. Are you trying to prove something to Fiye?" he said with a shadow of a smile, eyes moving from her own to Fiye's room. "If so, she's hopeless. If it's for any other reason, I won't pry." As she spread her arms, he looked at them for a moment, shrugging. "You think those actually perturb me after what I've done for the past year or so? I had Transendants that didn't even look like humans anymore, forced to where a full-body cloak night and day." he smiled sadly. "I'm just trying to help. I meant no offense."

Turning from her angry glare, he walked to his large window slowly, sighing as he leaned against the glass. 'Always...Indignant, thinking I think less of them. Why can't they just get that I'm not an enemy trying to analyze them? Ah well.' He thought distractedly, looking out on the park that he'd been to nearly every day. 'Always the same...'

Seij flipped his cell phone on as soon as he sat down, knowing that he would receive a call from that Shrian guy sometime in the near future. While eating, Seij mind was focused around thoughts of Transcendants, and how he apparently was one. I just have to make sure. Seij thought.

Finishing his meager meal, Seij heard and felt his cell phone vibrate, indicating a call. Hmm, that must be him. Seij thought, as he reached for the cell phone, but too late. Flipping the small razr phone he looked at the display, it's neon-coloured display indicating that he had 'One new message.'

Smiling indifferently, Seij scrolled through a bunch of menus, finally accessing the message. Pressing the 'OK' button, he held the phone up to his ear, listening to the message. Phone back at this number... alrighty. Seij thought, ending the message.

Flipping through the menus again he accessed the callers list, going right to the most recent caller. Pressing enter on the number, the phone automatically dialed the number. As it rang, Seij paid for his meal. He left the small restaurant, the phone on it's third ring. Come on pick up. I hate leaving messages.

{{Hmm....Shall I post and induce a round of phone tag? Or leave you been to cell-chat away? Meh. I have to be in bed in four minutes. You boys have fun. Just assume Iris is cooking and being very Great, now I've pissed off the only guy who doesn't seem to care by being overly sensitive. But like hell I'm apologising! I hate these things ish. }}

Yeah, I've been out of it tonight. Hence the not posting. Heh, sorry.

Shrian blinked out of his daze, hearing the phone ring as if in the distance. Pushing off of the glass, he walked to the phone, careful not even to throw a side glance at Iris as she cooked, having turned her back on him. He shook his head, picking up the phone and speaking into the reciever. "Yeah, this is Shrian." he said generically. He hadn't even looked at the Call ID on his phone, just assuming it was this man Seij. Shrian thought it quite odd that anyone would just give their number to him, expecting him to call. He could very well have just not called the man back. 'Well, it's just a simple conversation.' he thought just as he answered, attempting to be civil in his tone as he greeted whomever had called.

Seij was about to hang up when he heard the other line connecting, and a voice on the other end speaking. Moving the phone back to his ear, Seij listened as the man spoke. Hmm, he actually picked up. Here I was thinking that he wouldn't. "Hey, Shrian, this is Seij, the odd, white-wearing guy from the park. Sorry about just up and leaving my number with your doorman. It must seem quite odd." Seij said into the phone as he started walking. "Anyways, I wanted to contact you because it seems that you know alot about Transcendants, and I wouldn't mind learning a few things, seeing as I am apparently a Transcendant without even me knowing." Seij said into the phone.

Seij started walking across a crosswalk, the signal telling pedestrians that now was their chance to do so. As he was crossing a car almost clipped him while making a right turn. "Watch what the hell you're doing, retard!" Seij yelled to the driver after moving his phone away from his mouth. Continuing on to the other side of the street, Seij brought the phone back up to his ear. "Sorry about that."

Blinking at the man's voice, Shrian remembered clearly who he was. "Oh yes, Seij. I believe I remember you." he said, smirking slightly in rememberance. "And yeah, I guess it was a bit odd, but don't worry about it." When Seij asked about learning about Transcendants, Shrian blinked again, thinking about his answer for a moment before speaking. "Well...I mean, all I do is provide a place for Transcendants to stay, at least those who's abilities aren't that easy to hide. I only know some limited information, but what is it you'd like to know?" he asked curiously, leaning against the counter as he absently stared out the window.

True, he'd had many Transcendants in his apartment before, but all had been ones who couldn't hide their powers, such as Iris. His own ability, or supposed ability, was inside of him, like Nitebyss'. For them, it was simple to hide among the humans. His knowledge of Transendants was limited to what he'd seen and been told by those he'd had in his apartment. Past that, he had no knowledge whatsoever about them. 'Perhaps,' he thought idly, glancing first at Nitebyss, then Iris, 'it wouldn't be such a bad idea to learn what I can.'

Seij thought for a quick moment, trying to figure out what he wanted to learn. "Well, I'm not exactly sure what I want to know, just some general information, I guess. I mean, if I am a Transcendant, then I think I should stock up on as much info about them as I can." Seij said, looking at his free hand as he spoke. If I am one of them? I'm pretty sure I am. That hole in the tree didn't just get there all by itself.

"Sorry to ask you this, but could we meet somewhere? Using this cell phone really burns a hole in my pocket." Seij said, chuckling in the slightest. The real reason Seij wanted to meet this person, is because he hated talking on the phone. He just found it an annoyance to have to phone people, leave messages, and sometimes not hear back from them at all. On the other hand, talking to people in person allowed him to talk to them face to face, almost ensuring that they would be able to respond back.

Shrian ran his fingers through his hair, looking around at the others in his apartment. "Well, I'm sort of busy at the moment, and will be for the rest of the night. I have some guests that I have to look after, I'm sure you understand. But..." he said, looking at his clock to see it was a bit past eight. "Would you be willing to meet early tomorrow morning at around five? In the park, back where we first encountered eachother?" He was refering to when they had met in the grove, when he had jumped in front of Iris in order to 'protect her' from them. He smirked at his memory, shaking his head.

Turning to Iris, he took a small sniff, blinking at the pleasant smell. "Hey, how's dinner coming?" he asked, covering the reciever of the phone for a moment. "Knowing Fiye, if she wakes up, she'll have a fit if there's no food." he said, making a face at his roommates room. "But don't worry, I promise I'll keep her at bay for you." he said with a small smirk.

Iris kept her eyes on the stir-fry-in-the-making, both because it was easily burnt and because, onfortunately, she had a bit of a problem with her mouth and her mind. Her mouth had the lovely tendency to get ahead of her, leaving her mind to stare on in shock and become accordingly humiliated. And, with her hatred of verbal apologies, this problem was unusually common. She trief her hardest to apologise without saying it, but most people weren't so fond of such habits.

"It'll be finished soon. Maybe...forty seconds?" She nodded sharply, hair bouncing in it's ringlets as she continued unblinkingly staring at the meal. Her second arms shuddered anxiously. She had never been good with hiding body language, (though usually there was no one around to see it), and the new appendages were even harder to control, so she didn't bother trying.

Seij pondered the idea of getting up at five o'clock in the morning to meet this fellow. "Hmm, alright I guess. Five o'clock in the morning, no earlier, no later." Seij said, hanging up. Well, now I have a meeting with this guy, hopefully I can learn some more things about my apparent ability. Seij thought, looking at the palm of his hand, while slipping the thin phone into his pocket. Walking down the street, Seij came upon the apartment building in which he resided. Entering, Seij went up the stairs, going up 14 floors before finally arriving on his floor.

A minute later he was in his own apartment, which was quite empty, not having a roommate and all. Sighing, Seij walked to his couch and plopped himself down, flicking onthe TV. All I have to do now is wait. Seij thought, sighing. What a crappy day.

Shrian nodded at Iris before bringing the reciever back to his mouth. He blinked though, hearing Seij's farewell and then a click, followed by a dial tone. Shaking his head, he layed the phone on the base, walking to Fiye's room and rapping once on her door with his knuckle. "Fiye, dinner's almost ready." he said tiredly, rubbing his eyes with the other hand.

So far, it'd been forty-nine hours since the last time Shrian had slept, and even then it had only been for four hours. Lately, he'd been having trouble sleeping, staying up all night just to sit by his large window and stare out at the moonlit park. It had become almost a habit, and he didn't see it stopping in the future.

Turning back to Iris, he smiled, again slightly tired. "If she gives you any trouble, don't mind it. Just ignore her, and perhaps plot to get back at her later." he said with a small laugh, making a face and walking back to his window. He looked out once again at 'his' park, watching as the moon rose at its horizon. Shrian sighed, running his fingers through his hair distractedly. 'I guess it's another one of those nights...'

{{Yay! Congrats mister Illicit! Did I mention I'm sorry for totally disappearing for a few days? Yeah....

Oh hey! Junior announcements: Tonight at midnight EST))
Iris nodded sharply, pushing the frying pan off the eye of the stove and sliding the large serving platter she'd chosen towards the edge of the stove as well. She tipped the steaming mass of vegetables into the platter and rifled through a nearby cupboard in a search for ground ginger and, maybe, some kind of fresh cinnamon stick.

She nearly squealed in joy when she found instead a dried ginger root and, yes, the cinnamon stick. "I thought you didn't cook often?" she muttered to no one in particular, already shaving small flakes off of each with a paring knife. Iris cast an wayward glance back to Shrian in time to see his hand run through his hair and rose an eyebrow.

"I didn't upset you that much did I?" she asked quietly, already making a second judgement before she had finished speaking. "No... You're tired, maybe? ...Anxious. And tired of being anxious." Iris had never been good at translating body language, but then, Shrian wasn't exactly being hard to read either. Or perhaps she was just out-and-out wrong. It really depended, though on what we may never be entirely sure.

"Well, whatever. The food's done." she said nochalantly, her volume raising to a more audible level as she lifted the burning hot platter in one hand and carried a folded dishtowel in the other. The trick to carrying hot foods, she had learned with relative speed, was to use your finger tips, not your palm. It was also in getting the food to the proper location quickly without spilling it, a specialty of the runner, who could count the number of times she'd tripped in the past six years on one finger.

"Do I have to...get her or...something?" Iris asked, her mind flitting nervously back to the feeling of distrust she had gotten near the shorter girl. She paused for a moments before opening her mouth again. "She's a theif, you know. Pick pocket, probably, but a good one."

It wasn't a question. No one but a theif ever made her so nervous. Hell, she could have been sleeping in the same room as a psychotic serial rapist-murderer and wouldn't have known a thing, at least until he murdered her, but theives.... set off alarm bells, in a way.

Shrian blinked out of his daze, turning back to Iris. "Oh, well...I guess I just don't cook often enough for Fiye." he said, smiling slightly. "And no, you didn't upset me at all. I'm just tired, that's all." Indeed, his tiredness showed in his eyes, a faded and dimmed color to them.

"I know very well that she's a pick pocket. She had no friends, no family to speak of. I just befriended her and gave her a place to stay, and in return, she gives me the money she makes every day. It's a mutualistic relationship, though at times I wonder if she'd rather be somewhere else." he said with a tired smile. "And don't worry, she'll come out when she's ready." As he spoke, he moved from the window back to Fiye's door, rapping on it several times loudly. "Fiye, dinner's ready. If you're not out here in two minutes we're starting without you."

Turning back to Iris, Shrian's eyes traveled over the food. "Looks good. I take it you're pretty good at cooking, seeing as how you've managed this even with the meagre supplies I have." He smirked as he spoke again, inclining his head in a slight bow. "Thanks a lot for cooking. I've been really out of it lately, and it means a lot to me."

Iris's eyes narrowed at the idea that the man was willingly harbouring and accepting money from so shady a character. However, she didn't press the point. Instead she marked up a mental checklist of things to do before making her discreet exit from the apartment and bolting for the nearest sanctuary. With any luck she cloud reach Pataos in less than three months by foot, and from there it would be all but simple to garner passage to Ubboth, largest sanctuary in all of Efraen. And she could utterly avoid Yutichiko, which was- as far as she could guess- the home of her estranged parents.

After making note of the fact that she seemed to have been staring thoughtfully at the stir fry for some fourty seconds, she lifted her eyes again and caught something about Shrian being 'out of it' and thankful for the cooking.

"It's not a problem. Really." she said quietly staring at her hands, her original hands, and wondering what she was going to do with them, because the urge to fidget nervously was coming back full force and now that the cooking was done, there was nothing else to do. The very idea of actually eating the stir fry made her mildly naseous, though only for the fact that her stomach was effectively more knotted than a four year old's hair after traipsing about in a thunderstorm for an hour.

her eyes darted nervously between the food and the seat she was standing behind, though she kept them purposely of Shrian or the door of the shorter girl, Fiye. Finally, Iris sat, her newer arms twitching nervously. With an odd sense of detachment, she noted that they seemed to be meeting more resistance for the air. She didn't question it, she didn't even turn to look. Looking would only be further reassurance that the abhorred appendages were real and were, in fact, ruining her moderate semblance of a life.

Shrian blinked at Iris' glare, making no notion to acknowledge it any further. 'Well, I don't expect anyone else to understand what I do.' he thought to himself, not bothering to take his own seat. "If you're going to eat, you're not obligated to sit at the table. I don't like being in one place for too long, 'else I'll get a bit fidgetty." He smirked, watching as her hands twitched as if on their own accord. He could see the slightly nervous, if not distracted look in her eyes, almost a far away look.

Distractedly, Shrian's hand moved over his left shoulder, scratching at something around his shoulder blade. He paid it no heed, thoughts drifting off to Fiye in the other room. She'd been awfully quiet, and usually when there was food, she was right out. He glanced at the door with a raised eyebrow, shrugging his shoulders and lowering his hand slowly. Stepping once more over to the door, Shrian rapped hard with his knuckles, calling Fiye in a slightly annoyed tone. "Come on, Fiye, you're the one who wanted eat so badly. Last call for dinner." Turning back to face Iris, once again Shrian's fingers ran through his dark hair.

Eyes glazing over for a moment, he looked down at the table, a few thoughts running through his mind idly. 'I have to meet Seij in the park tomorrow morning to discuss Transcendants? Well, I know that usually, Transcendants don't stop gaining abilities. I wonder...If I am a Transcendant, what's next for me?' He shook off the thought, looking back up at Iris. "I forgot to mention, that call that came in was the other man in the park; the one who attempted to defend you against me." he said with a wry smirk. "I've gotta meet him at the park around five AM. Just thought I'd let you know, just in case." he trailed off, not really having a reason to tell Iris besides making conversation. It could get extremely tense in his apartment, with all the Transcendants grouped together and some slightly moody. "If you need anything at any time, feel free to just make yourself at home. But if you'd like to leave, I'd just like to know about that in advance, even if it's five seconds in advance." His tone was normal, though with the slightest hint of homour.
