let's see here... at 18 i started working my first real job, which was a convenience store chain in erie, pa. then i left there to go to itt tech to be a computer aided draftsman. sadly, due to my addiction to cocaine, i dropped out. realizing my mistake, i went to rehab and have been clean for 9 years. since i came back home from itt, i started working at the same store i was at before i left. i quickly climbed the management ladder and got my own store by age 21. held that job for 3 years, then went to a machine shop. made excellent money as a powder coater until disaster struck. i walked in to find the company owner telling everybody they shut down adn we all were out of a job. so much for my $14/hr easy job. after my unemployment ran out, i wound up in a plastic shop making dvd cases. boring job, lousy pay. wound up getting into a fight with my supervisor and broke his jaw. so i became unemployed and had fines to pay. so i went back to the convenience store. i was there two years when i decided i needed another change. ended up at wal mart. my suggestion: don't ever get a job at wal mart. quit there and have been a cnc machinist making turbocharger components for diesel trucks since then. so i must say, i've had a lot of different jobs in the past 10 years. hopefully, this one i'll hold onto for awhile.

Got married at 19 had a baby. Divorced at 21. Married again at 23. Married to a Marine traveled most of the US. Had two more babies. Divorced that one when he decided to go after teenage girls at the age of 32. Moved home and turned 12 again with Daddy taking care of everything. Now, I live in the South. Raised my kids by myself and stayed away from the dating scene until they were grown. Now, I have been married for 4 years to a Red neck. He is a little Barney Fife. I love him dearly. I am orginally from the North east but now I live in the South. I have a tang and lived a very relaxed life. I am suffering from the Empty Nest Syndrome. But here I am in my home which I earned and worked for. No man got it for me. But it gave my kids a home and I love this house. We are poor with little money but we have a good life. So that is where I am in my life now.

I'll be 19 in March so I don't have any real hardcore experiences yet; no children, no husband.. stuff like that. However, I did work for several months at $6.00 an hour making stained glass windows from scratch, running the storefront, and being the boss' personal secretary.. all in one job. I was severely underpaid. I also volunteer every year at our local Oktoberfest which is known to be one of the biggest (if not the biggest now) in the United States. stare
Not to mention I'm the cleaning lady here at home since no one else will do it.. and I'm a full time 4.0 IT/CNS student going into my third quarter this next month.. sweatdrop

Lesee, I am 25 (26 in April) and I work technical support for a law firm here in my home town. It's boring as hell, but I get paid well, so I shouldn't complain. Basically, i sit around and wait for a lawyer/secretary/paralegal to break something and then go spend the 2 seconds to fix it. xp Well, sometimes I get busy...have to rebuild a computer, figure out what wacked out on the server, and what not...those are the days that I love! I am getting back into school here soon. I was attending a Graphic design?animation school in New Orleans until the hurricane, but the school lost alot of their teachers (and I lost my apartment), so I moved back to my hometown (Mobile, Alabama). But, i have a good job, a new place, and a great boyfriend! Plus, all my family is here, yay! can't wait to get back into school , though!

Well...lessee...
I'm 21, and currently I'm doing a 'favor-job'. I don't really consider it a real job seeing as it's all under the table and more of a favor (going both way, actaully) then anything else. My friend's father needed someone to help him out with his personal business, and I needed a job. Therefor I now drive a van delivering car part three days a week for seven buck an hour, under the table.
But going back a little farther, right out of highschool (graduated in '03) I went to a local community college. I didn't go for me though. I wanted to wait at least a semester before I jumped back into school again, but with pressure comming from everyone in my family that didn't work. So I went, and I hated it. After that first semester I said no more and haven't gone again since.
A short while later I ended up moving in with my grandparents since they needed the help. I got my first job up in NJ at a store called Odd Job, which was later on brought by Amazing Savings. A year later (almost exactly from the day I began working there) the store closed for good, and I ended my employment there as a Lead Cashier.
Got a job at Marty's Shoe store working with my same manager from Amazing Savings. Seeing as he knew what I could do and how I worked he began training me to make me an Assistant Manager. I only ended up spending about a month working there before I came back to PA.
And now two years later I'm working at this 'favor-job' for peanuts. Hopefully that's going to change soon, though. I just recenetly called in on an add in the newspaper for people to work at the Post Office. smile
And that's it. Sorry for writing out a book. lol

I work in privat security. one of my jobs is at a steel foundry and the other is at a local mall. I ended up where I am, cause after college it was about the only thing open. I plan to move on once something better comes along. I love both my jobs, though at times I hate em. but as the sayin goes, gotta pay the bills so I don't complain to much.
to be honest, I have kinda always wanted to be a cop or firefighter. once I get a stable base set up, I may try to go back to college and take more classes to get a better job.

Well, let's see. Once I graduated from High School I spent 2 years studying Computer Science in college before deciding it wasn't for me. I transferred to one of the local community college and and almost done with an English degree (which I like a hell of alot better than Computer Science). I decided one English because creative writing is one of my biggest hobbies and I hope to get some kind of job in publication or something like that, at least until I make millions as a world famous writer. mrgreen
Ever since I graduated, I've had one job working at Toys R Us. I started in the video game section, but got moved to helping unload trucks and what have you about a year or so ago. I don't really like the job, but hey, it's money and I get a steady 30+ hours a week. I may try to find something else over the summer, but it'd have to be something where I don't deal with customers. xp

What do I do? Well for the past 17 years I've been a maid, while running a small hobby farm. (also doing the wife and mother thing) Which does not in any way reflect where I started from. Usually that's the way it goes. I went to university to get my B.ED (I thought teaching was gonna be it for me) Then I got sidetracked by theology, philosophy, quantum physics and a proposal of marriage so I stopped. Seeing as I'd lost my focus and all biggrin I kept studying various things over the years. I'm a knowledge junkie. Anyhow with the "recent unpleasantness" I've decided to do what I've always wanted and open a metaphysical store. So presently I'm tearing my hair out trying to research my business plan. It's such fun. I can't wait!

Wow, so many responses sound so much more important than what I do. redface
I'm a full-time student (by that I mean 12 units) working on a degree in journalism at the local city college. I've been going to CCs for the past three and a half years trying to figure out what the hell to do with myself, and right about now I have friends doing big important internships and finishing off their BAs. Everyone will be shin-deep in a career before I even transfer to a university for that public relations degree I'm seeking.
At the moment I work at a comic/game shop, Not only do I get a relaxed, non-corporate work atmosphere and prime access to plenty of independent and small-press comics, the job has made me fluent in geek -- y'know, like, "I'd go with the Autarch over the Exarch just for the +1 in reserve rolls," or "Cast Mishra first and Booby Trap him later! It'll be amazing!"
Wow, a whole lotta words and all I'm saying is, "What do I do? Nothing."

I'm in school, as a Digital Media major. Basically, that means anything that can be done by computer, I do. Websites, advertising, magazine layouts, video editing... I'm learning it all. By learning a lot, I keep my options open for when I start looking for a job. A lot of ads on TV are looking for website creators, and I don't want to be stuck as "just another website maker"!

Joined the military right after high school. I did my 4 years as an MP (military police). Got out and realized how unorganized the real world really was and decided to go guard. So I cross trained into a new career field and now deal with communications and comm equipment. Plan on finishing my Criminal Justice degree soon. Once I get that out of the way... who knows... I'm only 22, I've got some years ahead of me to figure out what to do. I actually want to become a Forensic Artist. So, I fore see more school in the future lol.

I'm 24 years old and a college drop out. But seriously thinking about going back and finishing up my biology degree.
In the mean time how ever, I'm in a love/hate relationship with my current job. I'm a front desk clerk at a Quality Inn. Most days I love my job, I get to sit around and talk to complete strangers or I talk to people who have been there for months and we are on a first name basis with eachother (they feed me! lol). Though if you ask me today if I loved my job I would have to say no. Not a chance in hell I actually like my job today. I work some of the most stupid hours you can think of. (sorry I'm about to go on a rant...appoligizing in advance)
When I first started working there I signed up for the 3-11pm shift. In the past week alone I have worked 7am-3am, my regular shift AND the 11pm to 7am. My sleep scheadual is beyond repair at the moment in time. Since just this past Saturday I have worked 48 hours...and it's is only Wend! (BTW Wend. is my normal day off...) and I will work another 24+ hours before seeing a day off. I've been up for going on 30 straight hours, and because of the shear amount of caffine I have injested I'll most likely be up for another 5 hours before I pass out. ONly to be back at work at 3pm tomorrow.
ANd why am I going though this, because currently we are short one person for the front desk and the other overnight guy is either a complete lier and an alcoholic (the personal choice of those who work there) or has the worst luck in the world, seeing that in the past 2 months he has had a heart attact, laringhitis and a car accident. The first I know is true, the other two well lets just say my manager is about to call him on the second. And if he doesn't give up a doctors excuse for missing last night I'm fairly sure we will be two people short for the front desk and my sleep scheadul will be null in void.
As for how I even got to be working there. I think Grandma, who thankfully is currently working there now as I type this rant up.
Again I'm sorry for this rant but I diffantly needed to get it out of my system.

AuraLynRose I'm 24 years old and a college drop out. But seriously thinking about going back and finishing up my biology degree. I'm glad to see there's someone else out there who has had their issues with the societal plan for success (school arrow career arrow happiness). Right out of high school I spent a year at State and, following a lot of high-drama BS, completely flunked my second semester. My mother said she'd kick me out of the house if I wasn't working on a degree, and since I wasn't making enough to live on my own, I sucked it up and started taking classes at the local city college. That way, if I screwed up academically it wouldn't be such a huge impact financially, and there wouldn't be as many authorities on my a** for doing poorly. Now here I am, nearly four years outta high school, still biting down and trying to make it the way we're told to.
